The NC Miata track build now needs just a rollbar to be ready for its first testing session. The Blackbird Fabworx RZ rollbar is the standard option for the NC Miata. In this episode, we install the final component needed to make the car track ready!

Sorry if this is obvious but with this rollbar and a soft top, are you able to still put the soft top up completely over the bar? If so, is it harder to put up now than before or still pretty easy? Also I noticed you had the soft top down at the track day you did. Why was that?

Good question, the soft top actually functions the exact same and isn’t any harder to put up. Even with padding there’s no obstruction between the bar and top. I put it down at the track day to avoid it generating additional drag. It usually is less drag with the top up but that’s assuming windows up. Since windows are required to be down I figured it would act like a giant parachute.

⁠​⁠@@running2redlineappreciate the response, that’s exactly what I wanted to know seeing as I’ll be tracking and weekend driving my NC. For the top down on track, i seem to find on forums that top up even with windows down is going to yield less drag. I think the cabin is going to be filled with slow moving turbulent high pressure air which will almost act as an air curtain, keeping faster moving air out rather than bringing it in as a full parachute. You probably still have some parachute effects but I think it’s better than full top down. Now I think soft top down vs up is really most important/noticeable on high speed tracks so it may be negligible in a lot of cases. One thing is for sure, top down gives better peripheral views than top up. I’ll have to try both as I experiment myself

@@emerica21321 Thanks for that info, I'll definitely be trying top up then. I tested it at Sebring which is super power hungry and struggled to get much beyond 100mph. Sounds like you have an NC for a similar purpose as well, enjoy it!
