Guide to the music theory terms used in this video: *Harmony:* Notes sounding simultaneously, or implying doing so. *Chord:* Three or more notes sounding simultaneously, particularly when begun synchronously. *Triad:* A chord made of three notes, particularly when those notes are arranged in intervals of thirds. Usually sounds pleasing and easy to the ear, unless we're referring to a diminished triad like the one used in Sticker, in which it sounds like a car horn. *Octave:* The distance from one note to a note with exactly twice (or half) its frequency - sounds essentially like the same note, just higher (or lower) *Tritone:* A dissonant interval; technically only synonymous with an augmented fourth interval, but frequently also used interchangeably with a diminished fifth interval as well. Sounds clashy and dark. For more information on intervals and chords, watch Classical Composer Breaks Down the K, Ep. 4, on NCT 127’s Superhuman: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hNJdZLma3bSYZ58.html *Scale Degrees:* The notes in a scale assigned to #s 1-7. They are counted upward starting from tonic; most (not all) scales in Western music use 7 notes, repeating every octave *Verse:* The beginning of the first two major arcs in standard pop song form - establishes initial characteristics in the song, has a change of lyrics with each repetition *Prechorus:* The section in standard pop song form that leads toward the chorus, often builds upwards in energy *Chorus:* The sections with the highest energy and the catchiest melodies in most pop songs. When this section returns, all instrumental and lyrics *tend* to repeat. *Bridge:* The section, generally between the second and third choruses, frequently used as a contrast from other material in the song; SM bridges frequently have multiple subsections. For more information on pop song form, both standard construction and variations, watch Classical Composer Breaks Down the K, Ep. 6, on Red Velvet’s Zimzalabim: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/n9lnnMh7qcquoZs.html

Thanks! Those were a bit of a whim - I wanted some way to convey the idea visually, so I just looked up one of 127's bonus videos from this era and started skimming through for anything that fit, and as soon as they started playing jenga, I knew that would be perfect, and just a matter of finding the right moments to capture for each one.

@SWCcomposer
@SWCcomposer 2 жыл бұрын
My *guess* (and this is just a guess; I don't have inside information) is that the similarity is Dem Jointz's influence - he worked on both of these tracks (so did Ryan Jhun, this sort of sound seems much more in line with Dem Jointz's other work than Ryan Jhun's).

Funny enough someone said which I saw actually on twitter that Sticker has the same flow as Bad Boy especially in the chorus and bridge, I thought they were just hearing things but I played it back a couple of times and did the choreo and they were pretty accurate! SM doesn’t play.

Everything about this video is golden, from the intensely informative subject to the editing quality (and editing jokes, so many Gee jumpscares) and conciseness of the delivery, my hat's off to you. It also finally puts a lot of my jumbled thoughts into words. Listening to Sticker at first (and for the next 20+ times) felt like a headache, but understanding how the song was put together was like Tylenol to me. I'm confident in saying that my enjoyment of K-pop on this level would never have happened without this channel. Love you guys ❤️

Don't Call Me was the first song that came up to my mind while listening to Sticker. And all the unexpected leads were also unexpected for me. But what I understood from this video is that you listen to the songs in a *completely* different way😹 Yet to the similar effect. That's interesting.

Was waiting for this series to return! So glad for this explanation. I thought I heard a tritone in there. I personally can’t jam with the song, and I understand people’s distaste for the song since it is very unstable in terms of harmony (not to mention the fact that the tritone is center stage, which is a very interesting choice), but it’s too bad that some listeners immediately thought the song was trash because it sounded different. Both NCT and Aespa are doing things that go against the norm, and it’s brought nothing but success for them. Hope that more listeners would be willing to give such songs a chance. In other news, I now need Don’t Call Me as a ringtone… and a full mashup of Don’t Call Me + Sticker 👀
