They are so amazing together. I loved Half Baked. Where's the definitive Blu-ray version??? Same for the Chappelle Show. Throw that in a HD box set and give me that SNL skit, as a bonus. Block Party was a hit music concert and documentary with musical legends and current The Tonight Show Band (On Neal Brennan's recommendation.) That can't be remastered and given 5.1 surround sound with new interview featurettes??? These companies be slacking creatively. They could be printing money. Brennan is releasing specials and clChappell is doing the same while winning Grammys while cameo-ing huge movies/appearing in supporting roles like A Star is Born. Instead of sitting on this footage, they could be packaging it up and slapping a Grammy winner sticker on it, or Emmy winner sticker considering that David and Neal won a Emmy for writing that SNL episode, but we their adoring fans that clamor for more of their content get nothing. 😞

I always felt Dave flipped out and left the show because of how successful the Charley Murphy stories were becoming. In Dave's standup he tells a story about being at Disneyland with his kids and people coming up and saying "Rick James, bitch." Granted this might not have actually happened at Disneyland... but I'm willing to bet that joke was born from some truth.

So guys can’t disagree and still be friends? And Joe’s Job as an interviewer isn’t to just sit there and let somebody tell their story. He supposed to ask questions to see if there’s more there.

Judging just on being a casual fan of Neal and a disciple of Chappelle, I think Neal had a profound effect on Dave's writing and overall career. Dave is great by himself but I think working with Neal always pushed him to another level. Dave today also seems less afraid of the limelight or less insightful material, more trying to "keep up" with the top comics today than on doing work that will be considered classic. But then I also think there is an overabundance and hype Dave now that almost reeks of guilt for not noticing him earlier or when he was underground. This is coming from someone who has called Dave my favorite comedian for 15 years btw. Chappelle Show, Block Party and Killing them Softly are some of the greatest works ever. There's a step missing from Dave today. I think Neal deserves more credit for what he brought to the table and I think fame and the need to stay "woke" has driven a wedge between them New Dave just ain't quite what he was, just my take.

It's rather interesting to watch this clip, 3 years after airing. From the perspective that Dave's ego and persona is currently on SUPER SIZE and you'll be hard pressed to find anyone that would say a negative word publicly in 2023 about Chappelle But the fact of the matter is Dave is the sole reason for the demise of the Chappelle show. And as far as I'm concerned, the situation was made worse when Dave reappeared, a year or so later, after his Africa hiatus, in interviews blaming everyone and everything without including himself in the 'Why I left the Chappelle show' equation Neal is a great writer of comedy and a damn good comedian. Unfortunately, he caught the brunt of the blame for a situation that should have seen Dave step up and take responsibility for...

I love Talib A LOT but this was a Tough listen man… And I listen to almost every podcast Neal B. Has done so it’s not him. I guess I also don’t appreciate him inserting himself in the Joe Rogan interview considering Talib has zero presence or business Stake so nothing to do with him at all. Interviewing and hosting 101, don’t give your opinion before your guest gets a chance to answer your direct question or provide their side. Talib asked Neal a ?, Neal gets some varying portion of the way through and Talib says, “what I think is.... “ on 4 separate occasions. also the bait and bite is not going to book him from his star studded contacts he has spent 20 plus years building for very long if Talib keeps providing an opposing opinion in these accusatory and in this cas the consistency in insinuation of racism Neal abided. Even after Neal says, maybe to you, it’s seems unbalanced or Sus but I’m in it with him and he has more opportunity and white love, now and then, than I ever will... essentially Neal said. Neal was kind enough to not point out the obvious that He, the Co-Creatorand head writer, NEAL who had a fortune and career to lose on a 50/50 show; and he did when his PARTNER bailed. People are always trying to give some Jewish guy credit whenever a brilliant Black performer arises in pop culture. Dave distanced himself from Neal because he got tired of people insinuating that Neal was the "Mind" behind his comedy. There are people that actually believe that Neal even wrote Dave's standup, when Dave's being doing standup & crafting his own material since he was 14 years old before he ever even met Neal.

How long is this interview and, honestly, not one thing, not one point this guy made is even faintly amusing, much less so funny or liable to raise a single laugh. Contrast that with Dave in a similar situation. See what I mean?
