Just wanted to say thank you for producing your content. I started watching last spring after I broke my femur, and realized I wouldn't be able to get much backpacking or fly fishing in. Your positive outlook and beautiful shots kept my spirits up as I recovered. Your videos are much more true to what fishing is actually like for the average person, as opposed to professional guides posting highlight reels. Its full of great scenery and enjoyment for the act itself. I feel I can actually relate to your videos. Fast forward 9 months and the leg is almost fully recovered, and after watching your first Hawaii video I decided to book a trip to Kauai for some backpacking and fishing! Thank you again!

I've been on a few charters and while they're great and can get you on some amazing fish, nothing beats just going out and "figuring it out" yourself. Glad to hear that you're almost recovered! Just to make a comment on you talking about rouge waves last video. I got hit by a rogue wave when I was fishing in Santa Cruz. I was up on this rock and all the waves are crashing 10 to 15 feet below me and my dad pointed out in the ocean and he said what’s that and I looked in this wave was about a half a foot over the rock that I was standing on, I couldn’t get up any higher so I just braced myself and the wave rushed over my body and off the cliff about 35 to 40 feet into the ocean below. Never seen anything like that in my life 😳

I was cliff jumping in Bermuda and a rogue wave came between these two cliffs blasted us and then as fast as it came in went out and almost sucked me out to sea

This brings me back to my land. Where I come from we an amazing abundance of different types of grouper, snapper, two great seasons of yellow fin, black fins are also abundant, many species of shellfish, all the mackerels in the Caribbean, wahoo, swordfish and marlins, etc etc etc. Yet I’ve never heard of the term “trash fish” back home. Jacks are actually a staple food, sardines and barracudas are just as loved as expensive fish. I love seeing an American angler making videos like these and not using the term “trash fish” on the title (so many others have used that dumb strategy)but rather just name the fish followed by catch and cook! Hell yeah, brother! You know what’s up!

Going to try to get back into watching your videos. You were the original KZfaqr who inspired me to get back out and Chase my dreams with a rod and reel I'm a disabled veteran I live in Colorado I was hoping that one day I'd be able to meet you but all I get are fake messages prizes etc so not going to worry about it any longer just going to say wish you the best brother and one day if I ever see you I'll say hi but I got plenty of fish to slay I'm 600+ for 2022. We actually get a lot of the Needlefish here in Denmark. In the summertime when we go fishing for seatrout, the needlefish come close to the shore during the warm parts of the day, and they take all the prey for the seatrout. Therefore, it is actually an irritating fish to catch. But very interesting to see them in Hawaii. Nice video

The needle fish come to Denmark in early may and its absolute bonkers to catch along the coast. Super easy as they are in the thousands and much bigger than that one. If you ever get the chance to catch Them again, and in larmer size. Try to smoke them or grill with lemon and various spices. Tip to catching them is super small treble hooks or silkstrings. Their teeth gets tangled and it does not harm the fish. ;)

Nice video. I'm from Big Island (FBI). Those plants in the beginning are aloe Vera. Very healing plant, you can eat the gel inside and good for cuts and burns (sunburn too). Peace

The plants you found that you said is a relative to cactus are actually called Aloe Vera. What you do is cut the plant stems’ open and paste on your skin/hair. It’s helps your skin from breakouts and helps with hair growth. It’s an awesome plant bro.

02:50 - those are Aloe Vera. if you get a sunburn you can skin them and rub the jell/slime on the burn. it cools it down, keeps it hydrated, and helps to alleviate some of the pain. it's amazing for sunburns. you can also skin the Aloe and eat the gel inside. it's really good for you, but it can be pretty bitter, especially the parts of the leave that are closer to the center of the plant. you can get rid of some of the bitterness by rinsing off as much of the slime as you can, then soaking it in water for 10 or 15min. but most people still don't love it, but in a survival situation it's a really great find 03:45 - those little black crabs are some of the best bait you can get on the islands. the locals will go out on the rocks at night with a headlight and use the light to stun them and catch them. but the really easy way to get them is to get a bucket, or a 2 liter soda bottle with the top cut off, then put that in a hole so the crabs can easily climb in, but cant get out. then just bait it up with some fish guts or squid, and when you come back the next morning it should be full of crabs
