Let this be the response to one of Vetrimaran's opinions which is Art/Lifelike Cinema can go international. I highly doubt that because from James Bond to RRR, MCU to LCU, Harry Potter to Krish all these over the top, Fantasy filled exaggerated movies are evidently international and caught the attention of the masses. Does this prove the point those movies are the ones that have impacted and emanated the culture of the terrain that they are made from, absolutely not. They've taken up the job of entertainment through storytelling they've done it fairly well. Whereas Arthouse or lifelike movies have and will continue to have the consistent reception from a certain cinephile groups around the globe. Because the kind of impact it creates is immensely etching and will not be intimidated or undermined by the over the top fantasy commercial movies.

But aren't all the movies you've mentioned are made with a huge budget and backed by million dollar studios? They are released worldwide because that is the only way they can make a profit. Unfortunately, not all movies get such a huge investment. For those films, film festival market certainly provides a great space for selling their films.

@@231srinath Hence the huge reception. There's nothing to disagree. Vetrimaaran's belief of life like movies going international is where I'd differ they end up watched by the audience who are into those movies. But over the top movies aren't quite like that. And there's also an hesitation for me to sort movies into two categories commercial and art movies. The former is decided after the release and the range of the reception of the movie whereas the latter has been pre-decided even before the script writing begins. What Reality we all share is only so much. Cinema is where we try to sometimes experience sometimes enjoy the experience of watching one's experience on a screen. So yeah that's that.

More realistic, regional will go international in the sense he says about film festivals like Toronto,Cannes etc. The films you have mentioned are high budget films and are not grounded realistically made films.

RRR got oscar and it was not for the film but for the SONG. And moreover the movie had religious, political representations. And the movie was absolutely illogical. LCU is a great move as it is being portrayed well for the first time in Indian Cinema. I enjoyed it in the theatre but it didn't provoked any change into me. If u want to talk about Oscar, what about Parasite? And most of the awarded movies are not commercial....

Just bcoz the majority watches the movie, it doesn't mean it is good. This is the reason why life like movies are not acceptable even though they r good. There should be a chance for them to shine. But commercial movies without any good writing seize these opportunities.
