it took me years to realize that the synth in the background starting around 1:00 was added by Neil and is not present in Cloudbusting; it may be based on a short plucked string riff that appears near the beginning of the song once

I just finished listening to Kate Bush's entire discography. It gave me a new perspective on music. And none of it would have happened if it were not for this comments section. Such an amazing and influential artist but sadly overlooked in the history of pop music. The fact that I had never heard of this artist until I was 17 shows how underrated she is.

Ghast101 There's two distinct sides to it - I'm assuming you haven't listened to it here, but there's two sides. The whole thing is this new wave-ish art pop masterpiece with tons of different influences and sounds pouring in from every side, and the first side is just catchy as all hell, perfect 'pop'. The second side is this crazy half-hour story about a woman lost at sea and her final thoughts, but it's put so perfectly into these totally wild, different sounding songs and both halves together are just fucking ace, man. They're fucking ace. If you haven't heard any Kate Bush I'd recommend starting from the beginning with 'The Kick Inside' or just diving into 'Hounds Of Love'.

I originally thought the word Orgonon in the title was just a mutation of Oregon. But then I learned: Cloudbusting by Kate Bush was inspired by a real life device called the Cloudbuster. It added rain to the clouds by manipulating something called ORGONE energy. Neil did his research for this title and it payed off.

It's really high in the high frequencies, which means he probably had trouble with vocal isolation and accidentally got rid of all the lows in her voice. ASMR just naturally has those high frequencies

Idc. Niel is a genius. People probably don’t take him seriously cause his music may seem memey but cmon. It takes genius, a real musical knowledge and expertise to have an ear like this, to hear two completely unrelated songs that no normal person would put together and then create a mashup that actually works and sounds this good. It’s scary actually😭 but i’ll stick to that. Niel is a genius in music and needs to be respected more

yo this gives me such a FEELING. Often when I'm feeling down I put this on, cause it has that feeling of just being slow and kidna mellow in the beginning, but I can't stop myself from hyping up along with the track as it picks up. It's fucking amazing.

I can’t explain why but this mashup makes me so emotional, even more than Cloud busting on its own, there’s something liminal about the space between the songs I feel like the emotionally raw energy brings out the emotion in Katy’s voice so wonderfully

It's definitely dark, although I can hear duck. That's due to our human nature to hear mondegreens in music. Kate Bush is British so she says dark differently. It's pretty funny to think of her saying duck though.

i have both this and cloudbusting downloaded to my phone. they start plenty differently enough that usually i realize immediately when this comes on that i'm not listening to the original cloudbusting, but sometimes i'm not paying enough attention....

Oh, I just caught an error at 3:07 - you can hear California Gurls (is that _really_ how that's spelled?? why.) playing at its normal speed, then when it reaches "unforgettable" there's a little stutter between the "un-" and the "-forgettable" before it goes back to playing at the same tempo as Cloudbusting.

i acknowledge that the most likely interpretation of this song is that kate bush is versing katy perry here, but when i listen to this i hear two girlbosses facing off against snoop dogg and i cant view it any other way
