And the beast shall come forth surrounded by a roiling cloud of vengeance. The house of the unbelievers shall be razed and they shall be scorched to the earth. Their tags shall blink until the end of days. (from The Book of Mozilla, 12:10) And the beast shall be made legion. Its numbers shall be increased a thousand thousand fold. The din of a million keyboards like unto a great storm shall cover the earth, and the followers of Mammon shall tremble. (from The Book of Mozilla, 3:31)(Red Letter Edition) And so at last the beast fell and the unbelievers rejoiced. But all was not lost, for from the ash rose a great bird. The bird gazed down upon the unbelievers and cast fire and thunder upon them. For the beast had been reborn with its strength renewed, and the followers of Mammon cowered in horror. (from The Book of Mozilla, 7:15) Mammon slept. And the beast reborn spread over the earth and its numbers grew legion. And they proclaimed the times and sacrificed crops unto the fire, with the cunning of foxes. And they built a new world in their own image as promised by the sacred words, and spoke of the beast with their children. Mammon awoke, and lo! it was naught but a follower. (from The Book of Mozilla, 11:9)(10th Edition) The twins of Mammon quarrelled. Their warring plunged the world into a new darkness, and the beast abhorred the darkness. So it began to move swiftly, and grew more powerful, and went forth and multiplied. And the beasts brought fire and light to the darkness. (from The Book of Mozilla, 15:1)

ivand1979 So, does that make it the last song we hear before we go? Or perhaps it'll just be "one of those days", where "Everything we know is wrong" and we'll all hear some sort of polka meledy? Should we just "Dare To Be Stupid" and live our lives recklessly? I guess this comment is getting kinda "Tacky", isn't it? Like you're just "Trapped in the Drive-Thru", or maybe feeling "Trigger Happy"?

The craziest part of this is how the writing process must have gone... I mean with regular music you can play it out and kinda know what you're doing before you start producing the track. With this NC must've just thought to himself, "what 2 songs would work together in a mashup?" and then made it happen even if they shouldn't have worked (like with Crocodile Chop... seriously wtf) This would take waaay too much confidence in your ability as a musician for me to ever attempt. Respect.
@nameguy1019 жыл бұрын
It's not really that "hard", per se. Of course Neil is a masterful genius, but when it comes to actually producing a mashup; one starts with getting an acapella/instrumental, finding a middle ground for BPM, and doing appropriate pitch shifts and transpositions - however I am yet to find a good way to transpose in such a high quality as what Neil has done. He surely uses Melodyne but e must have some high quality rips of these tracks and HQ tempo/pitch algorithms.
@TheKrou9 жыл бұрын
Nameguy In (I think) every mashup on this album, there are at least 2 songs which do not follow the same chord progression and are still mashed up. The songs are also in different modes (great example of that being Crocodile Chop) but after all of the editing the mashup does not sound forced and everything just works. I've done live mashups before by finding a good tempo that works for everything and transposing things into new keys, sometimes into relative modes of one key, but its the holy-shit-how-the-fuck amount of creativity that must go into the process in very early stages of every mashup that surprises me because I would never, ever be able to just hear something like THAT working in my head and then sitting down and actually mixing it and I can't imagine anyone else doing the same.

a month ago, i had to go up to philly so my mom could see her dying cousin. he died about a day after she visited him, which was a relief to us because the entire time he’d been super aggressive to everyone involved. but yeah, back to the story, we had left dc cuz we stayed there for a night to not drive for 12 hours, and we were driving for a while. i was oscillating between listening to a playlist on youtube with all songs from the mouth albums and my itunes library (aka all lemon demon/neil cic stuff). when we were in the middle of sc, i was on the youtube playlist, and i got to this song. i was tired, sweaty, and had not moved for the last 8 or so hours. at that point, i just wanted to sob. so, i just decided to listen on loop until i got home. everything was so surreal, and i just sat there, listening to this song. i probably looped it for an hour and a half.

Well, there's always gotta be someone dissecting a weird deep message out of Niels mashups so here's my take. This probably wasn't meant to be taken this way when it came out but in light of how this year has gone down so far this song is actually a bit comforting. It's the end of the world as we know it (but i feel fine) saying everything is going wrong and all you can do is accept it and move on, the other track We didn't start the fire listing many of the major events of the mid 20th century but things still go on and on, It gives a sense that even if it feels like the end of the world, it's not. everyone that's ever lived on this earth has had to deal with their share of problems. The fire was always burning, it didn't just start when you were born and it's not gonna go out by the time you're gone. Take your punches when you need to and have a laugh whenever you can.

Neil's mashups are a wonderful blend of meaning and "it can't possibly be that deep". like. I 100% agree with your interpretation of this song, but also I find it hard to take the song seriously b/c it's ridiculous. it manages to be hilarious and profound at the same time. Mouth Dreams's Johnny is the same to me. ... and after this is Wndrwll, which, uh. _probably_ doesn't have any deeper meaning to it. so Neil's just like this, I guess.
