Posca pens on the Gel Plate-Tutorial Tidbits

This week I'm drawing directly on my 9x11 Dina Wakely gel plate with Posca Paint Pens! These paint markers are amazing, they write on any surface including glass, wood, metal, ceramic, and even the rubbery surface of your gel plate.
I'm using my Tree of Life Gustav Klimt inspired mask by Joggles as a template for my colorful Posca Pen doodling. When it's all dry, I'll show you how to coat the whole colorful mess with Golden Fluid Acrylics and pull a beautiful, colorful, whimsical print on a 9x12 sheet of rice paper.

I guess I don't understand the point of using Posca pens on a Gelli plate... Why not just use them on your paper?

Funny that I found this video today on You Tube - I was just thinking about you....I took a class in paper painting in Fernandina Beach FL. I was thinking you are one of the top 5 best instructors ever! Your classes are so well planned and enjoyable. Thank you...I hope to find you again for another class. Sooo, I accidentally ordered the High Flow golden paint, and of course I opened several before I realized my mistake. I tried it on the gel plate, and it didn’t work very well for this technique. Please let me know how to use them appropriately. The are almost water colors. 😢

I tried using podcasts markers as my first layer. Then after that layer was dry I used acrylic paint as a second layer and tried to pull up a print. The posca markers stayed on the geliplate!! So disappointed! What did I do wrong? I’ll try again

I'm going to try this, but I already have so much trouble with my rice paper sticking to the gel plate. In the months since February, have you had any ideas on how to alleviate the sticking? Less than 10 minutes before the pull? Thanks for any tips! I need to order this stencil, so no rush!

Thanks for this video! I tried Posca pens on my gel plate, BUT didn't wait before pulling. The pens stayed on the plate AND the paper stuck...gonna try again and wait 10 minutes.

Do you think the soft crayons would work, or would they shift too much with the final coat of paint?
