Nen in Hunter x Hunter can get complicated, so I've simplified nen categories (somewhat) and explained them in this video in an attempt to make it more digestible. Please look forward to more videos on anime, games and more. Comment any questions or addendums you have below!

I've gotten a lot of comments about this 2:54 so I thought I should just give my answer here. I am aware of what happened to Todoroki, that he got boiling water poured on him. The point was to raise the question of how boiling water burns someone who produces flame directly from his body, that is all, feel free to debate but be nice to each other.

Well, Quirks are a muscle, if you overuse it, you may go cripple, like some fire users in fiction, can use and manipulate fire, but aren't immune, their bodies got so used to fire and heat and it barely affects them, but the problem with Todoroki now is that he barely used his fire, so he isn't used to heating. Like Killua who can use lighting but not immune to it, he was trained to have a resistance to it.

Some few advices Most of the people don’t understand what conjuration and manipulation can do Conjuration real description is : they can manifest their aura, not create things, if I spit fire that flame is conjured if the normal hunans can see it With Manipulation you can manipulate yourself as well, for example how porcupine did against uvogin And you can modify shape of aura For example killua’s godspeed is indeed a mix between conjuration and trasmutation, for example narukami(lightening palm) is a conjuration technique

Killua’s are actually both transmutation techniques, in the fight against Rammot I believe he could not see the lighting that hit him until he later unlocked his nen. I should include the self manipulation thing though, I forgot about people like Tsubone and Illumi changing their own bodies.

Fierce Aura yeah I was talking in general In the video you explained better than most people Actually only a few percentages of the fans knows that conjurers don’t only create objects What is your personal rank? Mine is 6 emitters ( yeah nothing special) 5 Enhancers ( too basic) 4 transmuters ( really deadly and strong I put transmutation here inly beacause if you turn your aura in something deadly you will suffer consequences too) 3 manipulators ( in 1v1 are strong and they have really cool powers) 2 conjurers ( to be honest they are OP, the fact that they can put these crazy conditions on their objects it’s really cool the only limit is imagination) Specialist ( obviously, like conjurers their only limit is imagination but this isn’t applied only on objects beacause they haven’t any rules

Todoroki didn't get his scar from fire, when his mom realized what she was doing then she tried to heal him by overusing her ice quirk on his face, burning (yes ice can burn) his right side. It's shown better in the manga.

@@nzbg1132 well in the manga in one of the panels right after she (shouto's mother) pours the boiling water on his face and burns him she uses her ice quirk on the wound to reduce his pain, but this is really a bad idea as using ice on burn wounds immediately after burning, only creates a huge scar to form over the area. So it might be because of this or maybe because he hasn't activated his quirk yet or hadn't developed resistance to heat at that young age as most quirk start out relatively weak when you are young.

Wing is a bad teacher for saying what even Fans now believe: Enhancers dont need a Hatsu. This is not entirely based on Wrongness, but it, in the end, shows a massive misunderstanding of what Nen and its Deepness is.

Someone pointed out that the burn scar on todoroki's left side is most likely a "freezer burn" because just after his mother realized what happened she tried to help by cooling the wound... this can also cause a burn-like effect.

Perhaps so! Though that might require the boiling water hurting him, it is probably as simple as his quirk was not developed enough to give him strong resistance.

0:07 it definitely is one of the best systems, but one contender I can think being a contender to nen is Mistborn's allomancy(haven't read the series yet, but have watched a video about it)

It’s possible, if that’s the one I’m thinking of that uses various metals to balance how power can be used. But even if not there are definitely contenders.

I imagine Trasnmuting youre Aura into Invisibility is really, really common. I mean, you just need to cover your Body Surface, which is not much Space. I imagine it to be rather easy. Of course it would have Weakneeses, as you need to be a Specialist like Meleoron to make it semi-perfect, but still: I imagine a lot of people have this Ability; at least as a Secondary One.

...Yeah, it remains a Myth that theres a Strongest Nen-Type or a Weakest One... Anyway: Most Fans dont realize that Conjuration-Nen has a Replacement-Variant, as shown by Tsubone, Ikalgo and Greed Island. A Mechanic that i imagine to be quite popular as it's simple but potent: You give something up to get something new. You could even go to Extremes and conjure yourself into something like a Blade that cant levitate but needs to be used by Someone as a mere Blade, which would sacrifice everything about you temporarily (or even forever), even youre Autonomy, just to gain give youre Comrade Power. It’s basically Transifguration-Magic, the thing that Prof McGonagall teaches. Funny/Epic enough: this is the type that doesnt just allows you to summon Creatures like Werewolves but BECOME ONE. Wow. And of course all this can be used as Self-Cursing, which Conjuration is anyway best-suited for.

Would a transmuter be able to turn someone to water by shooting a bit of their aura (like an emitter) at someone, and then be able to manipulate the the thing or person that was turned to water? (Example) An assassin walks up to their target, using their ability to turn the nearby air to mist. As they launch aura at their target, their target is now completely water. The assassin then makes the water float up into a jar, meaning that their target is now water, stuck in a jar.

Todoroki got burned on the same side that he can create fire probably because he has a certain amount of resistance to his own heat but heat from other sources does more damage

Anyway: From observations, we can tell things about Specialist-Nen that this video here just doesnt mention. Like that this Nen-Type seems 'unwilling' to hurt anyone directly. Or the more important Observation-Conclusion that this Type ALWAYS 'layers above' some other Type?

For me specialist is the strongest among any nen categories 1.Chrolo copying any nen abilities 2.Kurapika emperor time which allow her to access all nen abilities 3.meruem aura senthesist everytime he consumes or eat a person with nen abilities he can copy it and becom even more stronger if meruem didn't die he would be the strongest nen user in the story

Not all specialist are strong tho, it really depends on what they were born with or how they chose to specialise it (e.g Pitou who could decide what they want their nen to develop into). Neon was a specialist, and she's just a helpless spoiled rich girl who can see the future of others. She's neither strong physically nor her nen is initially offensive, in her case it depends on how she uses it to her advantage.

@@killemwifkindness i was thinking about that when i was watching the anime and how transmuters* make abilities that are initially not threatening so deadly. hisoka's bungee gum, machi's thread, no one thinks thread or such a substance is that deadly - but their creativity is what allows them to win. if they didn't have that level of skill to use their nen like that then they would surely lose.

@@snailsrslow625 true. That's why the power scaling through common system in hxh doesn't work, 'cause all types of nen has its ups and downs, and the user's maximum strength is leveled by how they hone their nen and their creativity to use it. HxH is really just an amazing piece of work

Transmuters change what aura does. They can make aura hot, cold, bouncy, etc. Emitters can maintain their aura apart from their body. Hope this helps

Theres more detailed explanations on the Nen personality test in the manga and/or Hunter wiki. However you have to keep in mind that Hisokas Nen personality test is essentially the same concept as zodiac signs. Like... yes I am a Virgo zodiac sign and I may have a lot of similar personality traits to Virgo. However, this may not be the case for everyone. FOR EXAMPLE, Emitters are said to be hot-headed. This may be true for characters like Knuckle, Leorio, and the octopus. But what about Emitters like Franklin and Ging? They seem super chill most times. But there were small instances where their "hot headedness" may have shown. But since they're Emitters, you already assume that about them. Just like if I said I was a certain Zodiac sign

Manipulation adds "Choices" to other Abilities. Ya know: Kastro could have just gone with a Clone that Slaps people with Blonde Hair in the Face, cause he's Racist against Blonde Babes! Thats a pure Conjuration Ability then; but to make it adaptive (=useful in an actual Battle), he needed Manipulation too! Manipulation does not so much mean Manipulation as it means 'Control' and/or 'Decisions'!!

Tbh I don’t know if you can enhance concepts? Perhaps enhancers could buff their heart so they bleed out faster? That seems doable

@@FierceAura Sounds very unlikely. Enhacing blood-flow to make the bloodloss more intense could be possible, but concept-enhancing aka 'special-enhancing' is what Kurapika and other Specialists do. It would therefore be a Specialist-Ability.

Feitan is Transmutation and Ging is unknown, but has only shown emission abilities from what I know.

I’ll be covering it in more detail sometime. Short answer is you can make your aura behave like something, but it will still be aura. So I could make my aura act like electricity, but it will still be aura.

i want to be a manipulator and my ability is called 'overclock, ( cause i like cpu overclocking) i can put a 100% on other nen types , lets see i want to overclock my enhancer type but the other nen will "undervolt" the transmuter , emmiter and conjuration (not manipulation lol) i can only use and enhancer ability for 3 hours and if i want to overclock another nen type i have to wait 24 hours or else i will die and my other ability i want for my manipulation i wanna call it "control" anything my nen touch or something exposed of my nen i can control it things etc even nen but i can only manipulate enhancer and transmutation what do i mean manipulate? like i can use their nen abilities for a short period of time and i can even enhance it if im overclock on enhancement but only offensive abilities not defensive ( i know this sounds like a specialist lol but fk it , and i cant do it with emmiter and conjurer) so yeah thats my dream nen lol thanks 4 reading

Ok, but grammar? Anyway, onto youre Ability: Should be possible, as Manipulationg ABilities is a Thing, as Pouf has granted Abilities before.

It’s actually unknown, but I think emission is the safest bet considering the teleportation (the wiki says this)
