It's grandads first time seeing our land plot on Siargao island in the Philippines! Feeling a little nervous to show him actually. But it'll be nice to finally have a visitor where our new home will be in the future. It's also our first time hiring Filipino workers to come and work the land which turns out to be a bit of a hurdle straight away. But it's all part of the journey!

Can I suggest that before you build your foundation for your new house that you treat the area for termites. It would also be advisable to dig holes about 1m deep around the periphery of your house with small gravel at the base and insert 3" plastic pipes to enable you to retreat for termites every year. Remember to fit a cover over the top of the pipe so that rain water is kept out.

Jhay, I'm glad that you and you family have learned so much from the Filipino people. I remember the first time you experienced a severe typhoon in your place, destroying a lot of establishments, structures, trees, etc. People were so confused, panicked and so afraid most wanted to fly out to other cities just to escape the uncertainties of Surigao. I remember you, Sacha crying but your daughter Story, full of hope especially since it was the Christmas season. That episode of yours was titled, "Reacting to RAW TYPHOON DEVASTATION Odette Has Destroyed Siargao", and this was my comment...

Hi from New Zealand Jay Sacha, Story and Rob. My Filipina wife Lina, noticed on this video, there are a few fruit bearing trees on your land of different varieties. You might want to seek Filipino advice on which trees they are so you can save them. Bob n Lina. NZ.

As a Filipino we are grateful and thankful for your love to our country to settle down permanently and we are all would like to congratulate you and your family as you are now planning to have a permanent land and house where Storey can be grow up in this one of the famous island of the Philippines, There are lots to do to make a perfect or at least not almost perfect place but in few years and month you can manage a better landscape, garden, a vegetable place and for relaxation area, since you buy a big land that can be plan well in the future, GOD BLESS AND MABUHAY...

Don’t build under a coconut tree….the coconuts will break stuff and you when they fall. The wind will knock them down in storms! Beautiful property! Plant fruit trees!

There should be a concrete monument laid and if it's missing you can hire a geodetic engineer to do the survey and find the exact boundaries

Raise the level of your land by dumping some soil as i noticed water puddles when it Rains. To protect your foundation and being washed away when flooding

Good advice from so many fans of J & S. Here's mine. Change tall coconut trees to DWARF variety. Meanwhile, put a fence around each tall tree -- to keep Story safe from falling nuts. Plant some trees whose leaves & flowers are edible, like jackfruit (langka), moringa (malunggay) and alukon (himbabao). Put up bat houses (nocturnal insects) and owl houses (snakes & rats). And KZfaq shows how wastewater from your septic tank can be used for your plants. Remember -- your neighbors will be watching you, hoping to learn something NEW from you. Good luck!

Siargao is a million dollar place to own a land. With all the development in the Philippines for sure this is a good investment.
