This is a speedrun of RoboWarrior for the NES. This is not a tool-assisted video.

The trick with the caves is that the exit is always on the same horizontal line as the entrance. For example, at 22:16 in this video I enter a cave and just run straight to the right without using a candle to find the exit. If you remember where you entered and run out of candles, you still have a chance at finding the exit.

This is an awesome game. When I played I was such a perfectionist that I blasted all of the bushes(?) whatever those things are. I had to collect everything!

Amazing job. As much as I love the tool-assisted stuff, watching someone play-through with no cheats, hacks, time-slow, etc., is brilliant. Great stuff!

I had this game back then. I think it was pretty cool once you got inside the game with it's boss-fights, quite memorable music, and all. The game was tough, I don't think I ever finished it but I must've been close...

*Three years Later* These lyrics go with Stage 1. 1. The green Earth is now a distant dream But there is a glimmer of hope To help restore Altile to its former beauty Someone is here to face the enemy The control computer is down what a distant dream GO for break out GO for break out This is the corridor Run through it, Night! 2. The planet has lost all of its brightness Light the last remnant of hope A closed door deep inside the Earth Reboot the system program Revive the control computer Restore color to Altile GO for break out GO for break out This is the corridor Run through it, Night! In short: Takes place in the Future. Much of Earth moved to a new planet. A new home, named Altile. Then Earth lost contact with this planet and they sent an ancient robot to help them.

Impressive. I've never finished the game when I was a little kid. Maybe stages 6 or 7. But I used to bomb every single tree, and to go on all caves, and it took too long. I had no idea it was possible to finish it in 30 minutes.

I did too when I was younger. I would normally get about halfway through and quit out of boredom. Bombing trees for hours on end gets boring after awhile.

WTF only poor end???? i remember played an entire saturday and just beaten only the 1st boss (one eyed blue slime) fortunately music and scenario and panorama used to make me like dis game because it's not 4 his difficulty! but thank u chessjerk for ur video, I SWEAR one day i'll re-play with dis game and i will finish it!!!!

I'm glad I finally saw the ending of this game. Now I know I was nowhere near finishing it, I think the best I ever did was 3-1 or 3-2, and that was probably still in the 80s.

I pick up 4 lamps and use them at 7:08, 14:02, 23:18, and 31:08 (all of the totally dark periods), so I am confused by your comment.

I guess you just went so fast that hey, blink an' you miss it XD. I know I'm late to the party (more than fashionably late, admittedly), but I just want to say how impressed I was by this playthrough. I think I got a few levels past the dragon, but... ya... that's about it :D. Could never get the statue order, hit every cave I saw though, but never really got my hands on a whole lot of the megaton bombs.

What is the purpose of splashing the blue water and is it necessary in the speedrun?

Do you mean walking across the water using the life preserver item? There are spots where that is required no matter what due to the level layout.

@@chessjerk I believe he means when you break a wall to press certain spots that kill all monsters

@@vookchrysaetos8003 Thanks, that makes more sense. Those squares are the "Wells of Hope". Touching those squares not only clears the screen of enemies, but it also doubles your bombs and all of your items (except life preservers, lanterns and megaton bombs). The doubling of bombs and missiles make them crucial to a speedrun since it greatly decreases the number of items that need to be collected.
