Wow. Your video is excellent. Ive called nest customer service three times in the past year or so. Nothing helped until i removed the programmed temps in the schedule as instructed. Makes perfect sense. Before, my husband and i would go upstairs and walk into an uncomfortably cold space. Such a waste of money to pay for a/c when we weren't even upstairs all day. We were baffled since we always set the nest to 73. My husband was ready to rip the thermostat off the wall! I wanted to give fixing it one more shot. I'm so glad i found this video. the nest customer service team needs to watch too. I love my super smart thermostat now that it's dumb! Manual is the way to go. Thank you so much!

This is the perfect fix for utterly idiotic programming. How did Google come up with such crap?! Who wants a thermostat to dictate previous settings over current day temperature conditions?! Thanks! Mine kept rising from 74 to 78. One min it was nice and cool, then HOT. Worse thing is it takes forever to get back down to temp. Im in florida, so right now its 95 and 110 heat index. I had everything off, but it was that schedule mode that kept turning it up. Fixed! Thanks again ❤

Thank you for this solution! It's been extremely frustrating for me trying to get rid of the "smart" eco features that I don't want. I've been frustrated with it for a long time and was under the impression that the only setting to change was in the app. It kept adjusting itself even though I didn't want it to. I want to be able to control the thermostat with either my phone or on the thermostat itself, not have it control itself. Your tutorial is greatly appreciated!

We just got a new hvac system installed and they put in this horrible Nest Learning thermostat. I was actually looking forward to it as it seemed like a cool idea. Boy was I wrong. My gosh, what a piece of crap. Thanks for this video. Why Google thinks it should drop the temp 10 degrees and then not turn on when you raise the temp because you are freezing is beyond me. I was about to "learn" this thing with a hammer!

Thank you! Now I won't have to constantly remove several automatic adjustments per day every week. I DON'T need my AC to constantly be trying to cool the house to 20 degrees Celsius when I DID NOT set it to. 22 is fine.

you can also change these settings in the app also and for the home/away we never had an issue with leaving it on(but I think ours are not working right so it always stay set to home). but what it should do is use it sensor onboard and your phone gps location to determine if you are home or not. the away mode should only run if the temp is not in-between 2 temp range. ex: 70-76 (so it will only run when the temp goes below 70 and if the temp goes above 76 it will run to cool it down.) it useful for when you go on vacation and you don't want to run it at your normal temp. default for eco temp settings are 50-off. also there safety temp settings and that setting is used for if your house temp get to High or Low and you have your thermostats off. it will turn the thermostats back on to go back into the temp range and then shut off again.

Thanks I live in Cypress area off of 290 in Houston and this is exactly what I needed I just installed another nest I had to nests but one of them stopped working correctly so I bought another one well my wife bought it and it was the white when I did not like the white because I don't want to get it all dirty we had the stainless steel and in a friend of mine who's in AC tech somebody gave him a used when it looks brand new so I factory reset it and installed it and it was changing my temperatures to 77 from 70 to 77 three different times within a couple of days and it was driving me crazy and my wife just called me if I had said the temperature to 77 before I left for work and I said no that the nest was trying to kill our cats we never have our temperature that high she thought the government was or ercott was trying to control our temperatures but I'm sure it's just these settings when I get home I'm going to reset it

Thank you I was sick of waking up not being able to breathe because it was too hot the nest kept raising the temp I set it at 69° and it would go up to 71°-72° and for small bedrooms with the doors closed that temp makes it stifling. I was like how do I stop this thing from turning up the heat on its own?? We've had it for 2-3 yrs there is no reason why it shouldn't have learned the temp I want it at by now if it's supposedly a "learning thermostat" it's ridiculous that it still hasn't "learned"

If you do the way you have done then how come in the morning and evening it’s start automatically everyday without any set up scheduled. I have tried your way but it doesn’t start although temperature is cold. Is there a way to set up that when temperature drop down it start without manually go on app and start. I have set up 20 C on my thermostats. I live in cold country so I want to keep my house warm. At what degree I should keep it to get house warm when the temperature is dropping. I hope you help me answering my question. I am not good at machine.
