Netflix Gets John Lasseter: Skydance Signs Exclusive Multi-Year Deal with Disney's Biggest Threat!
#netflix #disney #netflixnews #disneynews #streaming #streamingnews #pixar #skydance #johnlasseter #apple #applenews #disneyplus #disney+
Starring @JonasJCampbell , Lew's Ghost, Spencer of @BoundingIntoComics and more!
John Lasseter's studio, Skydance Animation, has inked an exclusive deal with Netflix that will have Lasseter producing Pixar-level content for Disney's biggest competitor in streaming. While John isn't an employee of Netflix per say, he's just about as close as you could get. In fact, we liken this unto the deal Lucasfilm has with Jon Favreau, who while not an employee of the Star Wars studio, nevertheless has his Golem corporation working on a long-term contract. So what does it mean when Pixar's former prince is with Disney's most dangerous foe? Maybe Bob Iger is going to need a three shower day?

I think there would be more outsourcing of animation to VFX studios. Model is working pretty well, Netflix is running majority of their animated features in this model. Paramount is doing the same thing, Warner too, even Dreamworks is going into this model.

The fact that Apple let skydance go because they aren’t into kids movie at present is truly baffling. Considering the sheer amount of money Disney has made from toys and other merchandise over the decades is ridiculous. I get Apple is a trillion dollar company but allowing the next Toy Story to go to Netflix without putting up a fight is just outright stupid.

That is the big thing. Apple is the key competitor to Microsoft, and the only company that competes with it in the information industry with parity. Compared with computer juggernauts like Apple and Microsoft, Skydance is small. Apple may learn how to do it themselves, if they hire specific animators, and they have the option to shop around other nations, like the Japanese animators, for example. They have the money to build their own animation studio. Lasseter is far too expensive to do that.

Given that that Lasseter’s last project, Luck, didn’t receive such good reviews across the board (don’t know what it’s streaming numbers were), is there a possibility that he may have lost his touch? I wonder if he would be willing to replace Rachel Zegler due to the backlash against her.

9:28 hundred percent incorrect. The same folks who worked at Pixar and ILM shared their knowledge with the globe via online classes. That's why you have movies like Spider-Verse and Super Mario. The talent is global. Pixar hardly paid folks the more established it became. Hence, many folks left to teach, start their on studios, etc.

The company I worked for over 30 years ago quoted on a huge ocean based oil drilling platform. We quoted using Korean steel because it was cheaper than US or Japanese steel. Long story short, Korea quoted the job at the same price as the cost of just their steel. Building the shipyard, and the labor, was picked up by the Korean government. Most people believe Korea is a fair, competitive, normal, capitalist system, it is not.
@shauntempley9757
@shauntempley9757 9 ай бұрын
It is. This was just a way for Korea to build a shipyard, train the labor and gain the ability to build ships for markets in the future by other deals with other companies, which is why the Korean government did it. My nation went to them for our new ferries, which are due in 2025. This is how research and development is done traditionally, and how such nations like the French and British got their shipyards done in the Industrial Revolution. Nations do deals to get what they need to develop what they wish to do. This is the system working normally, how it is supposed to. How the US games the system is not how to do it.

To answer your question about how Fraggle Rock can appear on Apple TV is that Fraggle Rock is owned by the Jim Henson Company, not Disney, Disney owns the IP for the Muppets and Bear in the Big Blue House, and the Sesame Street IP is owned by Sesame Workshop/Children's Television Workshop. While Disney was to be merged with Jim Henson's company, his death put an end to that, with Disney only getting Muppets and Bear in the Big Blue House in 2004.

Adding to Lew's wise thoughts about the breeding grounds of Asian feature animation in rips of out-of-copyright fairy tales that Disney added their own spin to....and often these asian versions came out QUICKER than the Disney ones, especially since they went direct to home video whereas Disney, to protect their in-theater boxoffice by delaying what is now becoming more commonplace day-and-date release in both venues.
@KathrynTestBot
@KathrynTestBot 9 ай бұрын
In some ways those Japanese versions of the fairy tales tended to be more authentic to the original, which I remember back in the 80's kind of made them fun. Sure, they were low budget. But it was interesting to compare how multiple studios handled certain aspects of the story. As an example, the anime version of "The Little Mermaid" had a fish sidekick, similar to Disney's, but if you know how the original fairy tale ended, well... Imagine instead of a fairytale wedding, the story ending with "Flounder" crying out for "Ariel" as he swims toward the horizon over a calm and empty ocean, with the audience knowing she's already dead. It was very emotional. I can understand why Disney re-wrote the story to be about averting a conspiracy instead of a demon's (a siren) salvation and becoming an angel (a conversion that was made possible by the mermaid giving up everything to have a chance at the prince, only to have her heart broken). While Disney's movie was amazing, I think in converting it into a Hollywood musical, some of the emotion and beauty of the story was lost.

I'm convince that the people start spreading the false accusation at lasseter motive are not just removing competition but also so they can get more less moderation because Lasseter are one of the people responsible to supervise how the projects are going. Then a year later someone got the same false accusation scandal like Lasseter suffer but worse and only expose how corrupted the Eng dub industry till this day and it was Vic Mignona as soon one of the movie he involve about Broly become one of the succesfull dub movie. Few years later someone else got the same treatment and it was Justin Royland people were just jumping hate bandwagon until months later after his firing all the accusation proven false but he blacklisted just because of a reason the previous 2 person I mention are "hard to work with" but ignored that they indeed hard to work with because they want to make good product. Three of these individual got smear campaign and till this day you still can see the cancelation attempts are still ongoing are insane but it is really clear that they want to remove these people they target not just from the competition but also from history by any mean neccesary, so they can get the piece of cakes these 3 people have, they are envy and greedy. I swear man high profile entertaiment industty are toxic and competetive in general and this are the most toxic enviroment I've been so far observe in western entertaiment industry for 6 years I witness. So far one person did manage to clear his name from these false allegation and won the lawsuit and it was a fallout writer but the damage is too severe and the gaming industry don't want to work with him. There is other people that also fell into same case but they are different when it comes to the method to get removed by these accuser like Gina Carano and Bill Murray. But hey at least the strikes really messed them up over as karma and the last strikes could happen are the voice actor strikes.
