Sanitary pads are really expensive. We have to buy a big pack as we are 3 girls and it's costs 800rs. Also, if you have heavy flow, then there are variations in pads, and it gets more expensive. 😭

It's suprising how something this essential is still a luxury for many. I'm grateful that I have sanitary hygiene access, not just pads but also menstrual cups. Can't deny that people in the rural areas would be skeptical to use it though!

I think government should promote menstrual cups too. They are a one time investment and can last upto 10 years. And they come in Rs. 300 only. So basically the most affordable (Rs300 = 10 years) and most environmental friendly thing and basically it is more comfortable than pads.

Yes but also the sense that you can't use it for 10 years. At most you can use it for 1 year after that it kinds of wears of due to decay of silicon there

@@TechnicalDhruva That would still be less expensive than buying the pads! 5-7 pads will last half a period at most, so you’d need to buy AT LEAST two packs per period, which would be 110rs- or 1320rs per year! (And if you have a heavy flow, you need more pads, which increases that number quite a bit). Even if you have to purchase a new menstrual cup every year, it’s much less expensive than continually buying pads!

The myths about the menstrual cups and tampons that they break the hymen and lead to virginity loss will never let these products to become popular in India. What is more disturbing is that a lot of medical stores don't even provide cups or tampon on a regular basis like pads. Indian girls have to either buy them online or have to tell the medical stores in advance so that they can arrange.

OMG this scene reminded me when I went to buy pads at my local dept. store. They didn't have any black bags, so everyone was looking for newspapers or something to wrap it in.
