As a magnetic resonance imaging professional, having something like this implanted, may prevent you from having critical imaging done such as stroke assessments as this can be quite unsafe in MRI given the interaction with the magnetic field and radio-waves. I seriously hope companies producing this do the proper ASTM testing and consult MRI safety professionals before mass production and implantation.

And this technology already was known decades ago, and even published for example in Popular Mechanics, 1989, 02, on the page 16 you can find this invention to help disabled people with spinal cord bypass. The implant is called N1, it’s an early design from what the company anticipates to have to evaluate severe neurological diseases and disabilities. Next step is inputting signals into disabled limbs not the brain to regain motor function. I tried to provide more information than speculation, I know it’ll help, because the comment section is inundated with future dystopian sci-fi fans with animosity towards Elon’s wealth, and just copy each other’s comments. @@reennduta BTW real bible scholars know that the real mark of the beast was an ash mark that Rome put on citizens entering the marketplace after they worshipped a statue of the emperor Nero who was commonly referred to as THE BEAST during the time that the letter of Revelation was written.

Patient 0's first words after the surgery : "I want to buy a Tesla CyberTruck!" This is a road no sane person would go down! It will begin as a beneficial thing, helping the disabled, the damaged among us. But like all things they will keep expanding it until it becomes manipulation and control... and worse.

Yeah, don't worry about that. Nearly all of Musk's "revolutionary" projects for which he hires engineers have failed. He just has a huge amount of money from selling his company at the most convenient time back during when the internet was booming/growing and then scamming governments with "muh futuristic mega project number 576" which keep flopping. Yet he still sells these "ideas" even though scientists warn they will never work and explain why in advance. People are gullible. Including those in power. Specially when media hypes this nonsense up to the moon. That's why there's an increase in these "i have a revolutionary new idea! And it works on(insert something that needs the laws of physics to not be the laws of physics)" pseudo-science scammers who convince people because their promises look so revolutionary and the "creator" managed to get a diploma from a reputable university.

No it cannot. The fibres implanted in the brain cannot stimulate the neurons. They can only detect signals. However, for patients who have lost the use of their limbs due to spinal injury, there will be implants in either the spine or limbs that will read the signals from the brain to cause movement in the limbs. It might be possible for someone to spoof the signals to those devices and make the person move. I'm sure they have thought of that, though.
