Thanks Steve. Since I started using this tip, the consistency and reliability of my serve have improved significantly. As you say, it really works!

Steve, the last bad serving day I had was when I tweaked my toss and ended up rushing my serve. I do agree that relaxation is the key. But really, in recreational tennis, players don't warm up their serves before a match. It's typically, first in, and they start. Which to me is crazy, but that's how it's done. When you get to a more advanced level, then they take the time to warm up properly. I just know, when I'm warmed up, my serve has pace and placement. If I don't warm up, it will take a few games before I get loose.

Hi Wally. Your right about some recreational players not warming up. But a lot of them do! I've trained and played in a lot of clubs in many countries and about 80% of them have a warm up routine. I'm going to make a video on warm up routines for the service shortly. It's great that your enjoying the site. www.oneminutetennis.com

Steve, I find that I hit my best serves whenever I'm able to patiently slow down and elongate the "together" mantra before exploding up to "pow" at the last available opportunity to strike, i.e., when the ball begins to hover.

Certain to try this one The statement about rythm rather than method seems correct as you pointed out how hard it is to change method so it can't happen by chance on your bad days Thank you again

very good...this rhythm you describe can be practised and achieved in other strokes. Rhythm is tempo and can be practised when we are in the rallies. But in the rallies, we must be aware of the split step. Rhythm help us to be more coordinated. No matter the stroke...I think it´s possible to create an entire article with this subject: Rhythm, thanks,,,

Interesting. Will try this out. Never thought about synchcronizing the "heels up" with racquet handle going back. It is important to get the heels up since the service motion is an upwards lift into the court. Along the same lines, is it important to get the heels up on the forehand? Or is it acceptable to hit the forehand flat footed?
@oneminutetennis
@oneminutetennis 2 жыл бұрын
Hi. The simplest way of viewing this is to see the difference between jumping with the heels on the ground and the heels off the ground. You see, when the heels are on the ground, the jump is very weak and small. With the heels off the ground, the feet and ankles are able to flex and drive upwards. Kinetic chains only work from the ground up... So starting low to the ground makes sense. Does this help at all?

release is 1 hit is 5 and everybody can find his own rhythm between 1 and 5 because not everybody is the same , some go faster then others and around. this helped me for manny manny years in teaching rhythm

Hi Steve, I am wondering when I should toss the ball... As I take back my racket slighter later than the toss, so it fits me better when I star tossing at the "loose" moment. Or should we toss and take back at the "together" timing?
@oneminutetennis
@oneminutetennis 2 жыл бұрын
Hi. Great question. In my experience, the timing of the toss is an entirely personal feel. But as long as you initiate the looseness, then usually the timing of the ball toss can still be natural and the two synchronize very well. Does that make sense. Glad your enjoying the channel Please let me know how it goes? www.oneminutetennis.com

Isn't relax and loose the same? I feel like 3 words is easier to develop a flow easier than. 4 so it would be relax together and pow

I find that my bad serving days are linked to bad tossing days. If the tossing arm is loose enough and the ball attains enough height and direction, I can get the serve right. I have started to do warm up exercises for the tossing arm to overcome this problem and it works better on the days that I stretch that arm.
