Cool diy…I’m a carpenter myself and would’ve maybe stained the wood floor but I get not wanting to spend on sanding, maybe just a sealer coat you don’t want that wood and paint to chip up too easily it’ll happen sooner then you know unfortunately

We have old ceramic floors. Normally the people who paint them regret it as the paint comes up way too easily. Old wood needs oil, which makes it beautiful. I have used oil paints on old wood. It gives a washy effect.

Floor looks great, but it will be high maintenance. For future reference, what may have worked on water stains would be oxolic acid known as wood bleach. Works great. A couple coats of clear waterborne floor polyurethane may help preserve your paint job though.

Very true! We bought/lived in a house for a couple years that we remodeled. It was 8,000sq feet of wall to wall carpet, except in the laundry room. Even the bathrooms had carpet. We tore it up and there was beautiful hardwood under it. Needed a light sanding stain and seal but worth every penny and able to sell the house we bought for $300,000 more than we bought it for with only changing the floors and taking down some wallpaper in 2 rooms.

this is super cool! I know a painted floor is bound to make some people mad but I think it's awesome when anyone takes the time to bring their personalities into their homes. It's always nice to embrace the history of homes but it's important to remember to etch yourself into the house's history as well
@DearLilBunBun
@DearLilBunBun Жыл бұрын
It's not "their" home. They're trying to sell it for profit. Painting the floors was a foolish move. It's not neutral. It doesn't appeal to as many people as a basic wood floor does. And this requires MUCH more maintenance. And then they put BLUE in too? Now you're pretty much forced to have the accent color be blue in that room, unless you want to repaint the floor. It's just not a good decision for a house you bought solely to make money off of. It's too "mid 20s to mid 30s quirky white woman" to appeal to a wide range of sellers. And I'm saying this as a white woman that LOVES quirky, and eclectic living spaces. I mean, my entire house is painted blue, pink, and green, BUT I realize when I go to sell, I will need to repaint every room to a neutral color that appeals to more people.

Right? Videos like these show how we're destroying architectural history. The worst on the endangered species list is the post-war, ______-stlye ranch house phase from the 1950s, with the super practical 4x4 bathroom tiles. The renovation craze came around just in time for people to decide those houses were outdated, so there's been a lot of ripping up, _and_ we're stuck in this timeline where we don't see the 1950s as old enough for historical preservation (that's been stuck at the 1910s, with a smattering of 20s/30s tudor-style houses, for _decades_ now).

@@jacksyoutubechannel4045 I have two bathrooms with the 4x4 wall tiles (floor tiles are 1x1 in one, and octagons in the other.) The house was built in the late 60s, and the tile is original. Flippers got ahold of the house (way before I bought it) and GLUED LAMINATE PLANKS over the 1x1 tiles. It's been such a pain in the ass trying to scrub floor adhesive out of grout and off the tile faces.

I absolutely love this! Many of the houses I'm looking to but are 360 degrees exposed wood. This is such a wonderful design ❤ (what about that wall?)
