We sent the battery to Will and we are the manufacturer of it. The original Charge/Discharge UT(Under Temperature) settings of Lvgoo LV48V100D Server Rack Battery BMS are a little bit different from other batteries but Adjustable by cable connection and communication on PC with BMS software installed and a code, they are: CHG UT Alarm(℃): 0.0 CHG UT Protect(℃): -5.0 CHG UT Protect Release(℃): 0.0 DSG UT Alarm(℃): -15.0 DSG UT Protect(℃): -20.0 DSG UT Protect Release(℃): -15.0 It should trigger the CHG UT Protect at the -5.0℃. 😅But Will was spilling the compressed gas duster drip by drip fast on the sensor to make the sensor's temperature drop fast so during the trigger action duration of CHG UT Protect, Will's temperature detector found the temperatures under -5.0℃ and finally captured the lowest -10.0℃ when the CHG UT Protect was triggered sucessfully. The battery has High Performance True A+ EVE LF100L(A) (3.2V 100Ah) Cell*16 Fastening Connected in series. EVE is the leading LiFePO4 Cell manufaturer. Actually in the official Product Specification of EVE LF100L(A) Cell, Its charging tempetature is 0~60℃ and its discharging temperature is -30~60℃ and its recommended use temperature is 10~45℃. The original Charge UT(Under Temperature) settings of Lvgoo LV48V100D as above is reasonable(not perfect) because: 1. If the battery charging temperature is in the range of -5.0~0.0℃, it is still in the minimum safe temperatures, it would not cause irreversible and permanent damage to the cell. 2. Usually the battery charging at the temperature range of -5.0~0.0℃ would not last long time because the charging creates heating of the cells and the cell temperature would be over 0.0℃ soon so with this comdition, charging temperature in the range of -5.0~0.0℃ would not cause irreversible and permanent damage to the cell. 3. It is common that the temperatare(the sensor gets) of the cell box is lower than the temperature inside the cell since the charging heat comes from the inside of the cell. This is our orignal battery pack settings of UT Alarm and Protect which are different from the official Product Specification document of EVE LF100L(A) Cell. We set up these according to the official Product Specification document of EVE LF100L(A) Cell, the layout of our temperature sensors, the working mechanism of the battery pack and BMS, the practical working conditions and the balance between the full protection&longest lifespan of the battery and the use convenience. These setting are not perfect but reasonable and adjustable and discussible.

I searched your historical videos but did not see where you have addressed my idea. I have a large piece of property in NC. My idea is to set up a complete system on a small trailer, enclosing it to protect from rain etc but allow air flow. My idea is to have power stations on various locations that will, essentially, be just power storage for use at that station. If this works, I would periodically pull my power system trailer to any power station in need of charging. When not charging at a power station, I would park it and connect to the main cabin. Please share your ideas, maybe do this build in a video or direct me to your video if you have done this already. I'm thinking like 6-8 power stations where I would not need to buy solar panels and the other gear for every power station. Thank you. Love your videos.

Aerosol Fire Extinguishing Device QRR0.016GW/S: QRR0.016GW/S is an effective hot aerosol fire extinguishing device. It is rapid, safe, non-toxic, harmless, and suitable for relatively closed spaces like battery compartments and boxes. 1. Working Mechanism When a fire occurs or temperature over 170°C is detected by the thermal line from the device, the thermal line will be ignited to start up the device. The aerosol generating agent inside would be to activated to decomposes the chemical coolant through the heat released by the redox reaction, to realize the joint participation of the aerosol generating agent and the coolant to extinguish the fire. 1) Gas-phase chemical inhibition(Main Effect); 2) Solid-phase chemical inhibition(Main Effect); 3) Cooling and extinguishing effect of endothermic decomposition(Auxiliary Effect)

Charging Lifepo4 batteries under 0°C is fine if it's at a low C rate. Most BMS cuts out completely but it would be nice if they had a way to reduce the charging according to the temperature instead, just like EVs do. As a Canadian, I actually love the fact that this battery lets you charge it in cold temps. I installed an small off grid system in my parent's cabin with a JBD BMS and it came with a -10°C discharge cut off and a 0°C charging cut off. Thank god I was able to change it because it would be unusable all winter. It never gets over 0.3C discharge and 0.05C charging rate anyway.
@bill8336
@bill8336 Жыл бұрын
Yes, You are right. In the detailed specifications of the LiFePO4 battery cells, there are detailed, ideal and accurate charge and discharge regulations at different temperature ranges. It is impossible for the packs to be used strictly according to the cells' detailed, ideal and accurate charge and discharge regulations at different temperature ranges. Keeping the battery packs work on the condition of battery safety is the most important thing. Wear and Tear of the battery pack more or less is the second thing to consider.

The BMS of Lvgoo LV48V100D Server Rack Battery is high quality and long, so with 2 terminals on each side of the BMS inside the battery case, the spaces for the 2 solid Handles are narrow and have to be quite closed to the terminal nearby. The Insulated materials like Heatshrink and Rubber Sheath are good improvement considerable. We will find the good solution and solve the problem soon.

"Server racks" otherwise known as electrical or electronic equipment racks are available in every city. They've been around for decades, used for radio, TV and computer equipment including commercial servers. Just look for an electric/electronic equipment store. Btw IBM used these for mainframes, mini computers, switch racks, etc., so when designing their PC they started with a rack tray. If you took the cover off the screw holes line up with server rack slide rails and the holes in the back and front plates match the hole placement in server rack posts. Racks have feet that you can get so they can be bolted to the floor and ceiling. Racks server UPS's are usually mounted on the bottom of the rack and can provide backup power for several servers. No solar inputs, but battery charger, battery and inverter.

Here is the complete and accurate words description of the re-setting and test: In the factory, we changed the settings of the BMS CHG(Charging) UT(Under Temperatures) Alarm/Protect/Protect Realease(℃) From 0.0/ -5.0/ 0.0 TO 5.0/ -0.5/3.0(Because the practical and accurate temperature of Ice Water is almost a little bit higher than 0.00℃ like 0.05℃ ) and I have to mention that the duration time in the BMS from the reaching of the temperature settings to practical alarm/action(protect and protect/alarm releasing) happen is 2 seconds. 1. We put the 4 Temp. Sensors of LV48V100D battery into the Ice Water, the BMS shows T1/2/3/4 data drops from 23.1/24.8/24.8/24.9℃ to 4.3/6.8/5.5/7.3℃ in about 5 seconds to reach the CHG UT Alarm setting 5℃, then in 2s to trigger the CHG UT Alarm, then drops to 0.5/ 0.7/ 0.7/ 0.7℃ to reach the 0.5℃ CHG UTP Protect, then in 2s to trigger CHG UTP(UT Protect) and the charge stops. 2. Then we get the 4 Temp. Sensors out of the Ice Water, they start to be back to the Air Temp. to be 5.2/ 4.7/ 4.0/ 3.4℃ to reach the CHG UT Protect Realease setting 3.0℃(for all sensors≥3.0℃) then in 2s to trigger CHG UTP Release then the charge re-starts. then the sensors continue to be back to be 7.2/ 7.0/ 6.3/ 5.0℃ to reach the UT Alarm release setting 5.0℃(for all sensors≥5.0℃) then in 2s to trigger UT Alarm Release. I think this test proves that there are no problems with the battery hardware especially the BMS and the Temp. Sensors. The Temp. Issue in the video was caused by the differances between the original Charge UT/UTP settings of the Lvgoo LV48V100D Server Rack Battery in this video and the common Temp. settings of other competitors' batteries. We decide to be consistent with the Charge UT/UTP settings as Will suggested and other competitors' batteries settings like SOK and EG4 to keep the cells in state of charging 100% away from 0.00℃. Thank you Will!!! and we will email you the videos and report of this test and we want to hear your comment. Bill😀

In Test A, the sensor temp. went down so fast to be -10℃ captured in the 2s duration time. I did not ask Will to find out the accurate -0.5℃ CHG UTP since it is difficult. Hello David, Will did not deny our battery 100%. He mentioned: deserve attention and not bad and he thinks there are space for the battery to improve to be better. Here we are going to do for the server rack batteries: 1.We will change the temp. setings of the CHG UT Alarm/Protect/Protect Release as Will pointed to keep the battery 100% away from the freezing 0.00℃. 2. We will use the copper bus bars as Will suggested with 2.0mm thickness/25mm width specifications inside the batteries to replace the aluminium bus bars to make the 2 connecting terminals more capable for large current. 3. We will have fully PVC(0.7mm thickness) coated handles for the next batch of server rack batteries. 4. For racks or cabinet where the server rack batteries connecting to each other in parallel, We have 2 different solutions(modular assemble racks and assemble battery cabinet) and they are going to be in our USA warehouse soon. With the welded battery terminals in mind, I am curious what the rack mounted batteries designers are doing to overcome long term expansion of the cells, with the welded terminals at the top, and no equivalent restriction at the bottom of the cells? They have probably designed for this, but what is it they are doing to allow welded battery cell bus-bars some room for expansion between adjacent cells? Do you have rack mounted batteries that you have used for more than a year which could be checked for expansion issues that would only show up over time?

The battery has High Performance Brand New True A+ EVE LF100L(A) (3.2V 100Ah) Cell*16 Fastening Connected in series. EVE is the leading LiFePO4 Cell manufaturer. As the Manufacturer of this battery pack, I can tell you that there are Terminal Pipe Caps in the package of the battery. The Terminal Pipe Caps are suitable size and tight for the cable lugs and battery terminals and very helpful for the Insulation including the Insulation between Handle and the battery terminal. The good connection operations are as below: For example, When Connect the 2 Main Cables to the terminals of the Top/Bottom LV48V100D in parallel string. 1)Insert the Red Labeled Positive Main Cable(RLPMC) into 2 Red Terminal Pipe Caps; Insert the Black Labeled Negative Main Cable(BLNMC) into 2 Black Terminal Pipe Caps. 2)Connect the the RLPMC to Upper Red Positive (+) Terminal of the Top layer LV48V100D and Connect the the BLNMC to Lower Black Negative(-) Terminal of the Bottom layer LV48V100D. or Connect the the RLPMC to Lower Red Positive (+) Terminal of the Bottom layer LV48V100D and Connect the the BLNMC to Upper Black Negative(-) Terminal of the TOP layer LV48V100D.(Connection steps: removing the Terminal Bolt, inserting it through the eyelet of the Main Cable Lug then reseating the Bolts into the Terminal Block). 3)Fasten the nuts by wrench to the correct torque(100~130 in-lbs/12~15 N-m)Cover the connection of Terminal Block, Main Cable Lug, Washer and Bolt with Terminal Pipe Cap.

You have mentioned that in cold climate areas that LifePO4 batteries can still be used. I want to build an off grid system for a camp where the inverter and batteries will be in an insulated shed. Typical night temps in January 5F with a day temperature of 30F although several days below zero can happen. A few winter days with highs in the +40s can also occur. Camp would not be in use during those really cold spells. Could you make a video with a cold weather system? Perhaps the battery cabinet can have removable panels for the winter season. Note that the "top 12" states in USA have this problem. Thanks!

Hello Darryl, We are the manufacturer of the server rack battery LV48V100D. I think It is better for you to have the insulation materials around to protect the batteries from the freezing and even lower temp. in winter. We have the assembly battery cabinets to work with max 6 units of our server rack batteries connecting with each other in the cabinet. The Front/Back Door are removable, there is one removable panel on each side of the cabinet. I think this cabinet is good for the added insulation materials since you can add and move the insulation materials easily by the 4 sides removable design. The heating pads probably are not practical since the batteries are big. That is what I thought.

A 16s 48v bank with 13.4kWh of capacity would then cost about 2300USD. While a regular 5kWh battery costs almost 1500USD. @@pteepan2708 hello Ptee, thank you for your advice. The current price of Lvgoo Server Rack battery LV48V100D is $1639 including tax and free shipping. It is competitive with EG4 and SOK at the same product level. You can check that. Of course I know EG4 has cheaper sever rack batteries without display screen and fire arrester but the this is not the same level of LV48V100D. In addition, for the cells in LV48V100D, they are the top lifepo4 leading manufacturer EVE and the EVE cells are the most expensive ones in the market and their quality is highly and commonly admitted and recommended in the lifepo4 cell market. This point was not pointed out in the video and Will thinks the cells and BMS in the server rack batteries are almost the same if they are brand new. Yes, it would be a hardware fix on a software problem. Though, once the values are known and where to solder, you could aftermarket mod them for $1 in resistors and 30-60 min of your time in disassembly, soldering/crimping, and reassembly. If the cheaper battery is that coveted. Though, I would advise against this if soldering or liPo are unfamiliar to someone.

@@EricStott potentially yes, though the burden of proof that adjusting the low temp cut off sensor caused a failure elsewhere is legally on them. If there is a situation where these batteries might get that could, I think charge controllers can also cut power at certain temps, or just use a heat pad. If I installed these, I really hope my house won't get that cold, or something else has gone really wrong. So low temp cut off wouldn't affect my use case and if I bought them, I probably not even mod them.

Look up "potential divider". That's a simple way to do it, using a couple of resistors. You will probably need power resistors and protect it with a fuse. But make sure you understand the equations and can design it properly so you don't get too much voltage drop when a load current is drawn. And carefully consider what quiescent current you want down through the resistors when no load current is being drawn, as that is wasted power. And ensure you calculate the power dissipation in the resistors so you can select the power rating of resistor appropriately. Or you can go down the route of a voltage regulator circuit.
