I bought the 850 premium as well, 2021 model.. Have had it for 6 months and have 20 hours, 112 miles on it with no issues..I don't pound my machines or use them alot so hopefully with regular maintenance it will last for a few years without replacing worn parts.. Polaris are good machines, the issue is they source JUNK components such as plastic bushings, cheap brake pads, wheel bearings, garbage tires etc...If Honda ever gets their thumb out of it and produces a 850 or 1000 atv, it will be the one to own.. The starter has annoyed me on mine since day 1.. It just sounds clunky and sloppy when starting and shutting off.. Clean your air filter often, as the air box cover is not the best seal.. All manufacturers of atvs have issues from time to time, but some are less prone to problems such as Honda and Yamaha..I just ordered a Can am defender limited sxs for hunting etc.. Can am seems to have good products for the most part..

You may be able to place a piece of rubber bushing, or something that might eliminate the noise if it's too annoying... I believe other atv's have similar noises, that are just normal.... It's just a part of the design.... some components require some slack, to function properly.... It just depends.... I also wouldn't ride around in low gear, even though it will hit 30mph.... if your driving that fast, you need to be in high gear.... I wouldn't probably exceed 15mph in low gear.... I have a 2018 sportsman 850 non eps and the best advice I can give you is these are clunky machines. Mine clunks when you get on and let off the throttle. It also squeaks more than anything I've ever owned with wheels. A lot of people say just ride em and they get better over time and I feel like thats true. But just know you aren't buying a precision made machine like a Honda. These are on the cheaper side of ATVs and you're going to notice that.

I had one of these and I absolutely love the power and the engine. The rear bolts on the suspension can work themselves loose, I kid you not. Check them front and rear now that the machine is new, and after the first 500 miles or so and then again periodically. I actually had a large bolt come off on the rear end on a trail ride and luckily I was going slow. A rear control arm came loose and was dangling. It's a common problem on the 850/1000. I know a guy that had something similar happen on his front end! Not good. Polaris should use loctite on those bolts at the factory. My steering did the same thing, it's common unfortunately. When your power steering gets glitchy and stops working just stop the machine, shut it off and wait about a minute and then start it again, it should work again. It's a known issue they never fixed. Have fun with that beast and be sure to check the suspension bolts.
