Here are 6 reasons I bought a 2021 Polaris Sportsman 850 Premium. These are great features on the Polaris Sportsman and I go over if you should order a Sportsman.
I was considering a Can am Outlander 850 but decided to go with a Polaris Sportsman. I used to drive a Polaris Hawkeye and that was a reliable machine. Some other family members of mine drove Polaris ATV's and they were reliable. In this video I review the top features that the Sportsman has and why I decided to buy it!

I bought the 2021 Sportsman 850 Premium Trail in Matte Orange Rust Metallic. You have hit most of the same reasons I had for choosing this machine. Ride, storage, comfort and power. Enjoy yours, and we look forward to future vids

I bought a 2020 sportsman 850 base model and it really goes great, the suspension and handling are great. I had a 96 sportsman 500 and I loved that one so that's why I chose to go with Polaris again. They've always been great machines to ride.

@@richsgarage5897 I did have some problems with it, but that was due to the previous owner not maintaining it properly and not using it very often. I also had a 97 scrambler 400 2 stroke before my sportsman 500 which was a blast to drive. I do believe Polaris makes good machines that are very reliable. That's mostly why I bought my new 850.

Rich, I am currently in a situation where Im about to buy a quad but I am torn between a Can Am Outlander 850 vs Polaris Sportsman 850... Thanks so much for the video... Very helpful. Thanks for the support! Have you driven any of them yet? I can't do any trail riding until the spring time unfortunately. Might do some local field, snow stuff. I'm trying to get creative haha. I have never driven a Can am but both are great quads. Sportsman is a smoother ride from everyone I've talked to. Can am rides a little sportier.

I got the 2020 1000xp hunter edition the seats are very nice and power more than i need mostly keep it in standard and work mode

Very nice! A few people have mentioned they keep it in work mode on the 1000XP because it's so fast haha.

I bought the 2022 850 as a workhorse I live in Fairbanks Alaska I got it the day before the ice storm we just had I chose it because of the power it has it will push a 60” plow,the power steering,the comfort, it has zerk fittings on everything over the 570 ,it has adjustable front shocks that I need for the plow, the 570 has mcferson struts that cant be adjusted for the weight of the plow,it’s already wired for the heated hand grips,the winch ,it has an awesome digital display. So I was trying to break it in during the ice storm but that didn’t go so well I froze I can’t wait until spring so I can go out and see what It can do it should be well broke in bye then with all of the snow plow we have to do

I looked at a 850 Polaris and a 570 trail edition. I purchased the 570 trail. My only complaint is not enough storage. Mine rides smooth! Enjoy Polaris for sure!

Does the clutch intake above the rear tire suck in a lot of dirt? That's by far one of the dumbest things I've ever seen Polaris do.

@@HorsepowerGarageVideos I'm a trail rider, some water and mud. I put a soft screen mask over it. Just to stop large dirt or mud from getting in. Yes, it was a problem on my 2014 570.

I'm right with you man, I have a 2018 Sportsman XP 1000 and that storage is easy to get to while you're sitting on the four-wheeler front and back ,the seat is amazing, the ride is the best and the all wheel drive works flawlessly better than anyone because can am is only 2 wheel drive because if one wheel is in the air it doesn't put power to the other wheel and even the new 2021 xmr has a diff lock but that is still crap like my Grizzy if you wait until you need it it's too late and if you lock it before now you can't steer you have to fip in and out pain in the ass and for this one reason I wouldn't have any other brand than Polaris.

@@richsgarage5897 and I hope enjoy your Sportsman 850 but please keep updated has I thinking about upgrading my Kodiak 700 to the Sportsman 850 so I don't have to let my wife ride my Sportsman XP 1000 then I have to ride the Kodiak 😭 it just rides rougher ,harder to steer ,seat harder and the throttle is harder .

Those tires play a roll in how soft the ride is also. I went with the 21 Sportsman xp1K trail stealth grey. Ergonomics, ride, feel, handling, suspension, storage, all the accessories are great and its 90hp to top it off!! It does drink the fuel, but I'm perfectly ok with that!!

Good point with the tires I didn't think of that. Very nice, I am sure the thrill of driving that 90hp machine is worth a couple extra bucks at the gas station! Haha

I have a 2018 Sportsman XP 1000 and I can safely say that it still rides like buttery smooth with 4 XTR 27x11x14 didn't notice much difference in ride but it handles much better.

Just got my 2021 Sportsman 850 Premium in Steel Blue. I ordered it with the trail package just for the cost savings of adding the winch and bumpers but would have preferred it to have the black springs like yours. I Look forward to seeing what you do with yours and your trail rides. If you decide to add the third center LED brake light please make a video. been thinking about doing that with mine. I did install the LED headlights from Polaris. I subbed to your channel and will be watching your vids. Thanks for sharing!.

@@erick462 If you were refering to mine, I got my 850 premium trail with the LED headlights, rear rack extender and hand guards added to the price for $11,300 out the door. that was tax and everything out the door. I installed the lights, rack and hand guards myself. I've since added the third brake light and wired the LED halos to be on when the ignition is on. Great machine!

@@nchighwayman wow that's great deal I'm shopping around I'm actually looking for exca t same set up. There giving me MSRP plus 900 mark up trail package dealer mark up 1300 plus tax reg and shipping way too much almost 3k more then what you paid. Where Are you located? What dealer did you use?

@@erick462 I got mine at Great Western Motorcycles in Statesville, NC. I did get about $1K off because they were offering a first responder discount at the time. They didn't have exactly what I wanted in stock so I ordered it. They had it within a month. I ordered it on 12/7/2020 and they had it on 12/22/2020. Good luck! I hope you can find the one you want at a fair price!

Just got the same unit and color only with a winch and bumpers. Only thing disappointing is 2021 they quit led head lights and no longer have curved lower a arms

My 2012 had one inch wider tires stock so that's what I put on my 2021, 9" wide front 11" rear

Whats the price most people can get the sportsman 850 premium out the door. Any info my local dealer has like 1300 mark up

It depends. My buddy with his 850 Ultimate trail bought it marked up too. With inventory low some places are screwing people. If your willing to drive you should be able to find one at MSRP maybe a couple hundred off if anything.

@@richsgarage5897 thanks I've tried 5 dealers they all want MSRP plus dealer mark up because oflow inventory. I tell wl what's the difference inventory is low that's correct but it's a special order so not buying from there inventory

All have issues I feel. I have a 2020 850 with now 6,500 miles and just love the ride and power it has. I agree the Polaris will have issues, 2 starters replaced so far with no other problems. Would I buy another? Nope.
