I have a 2017 Hyundai Tucson. I went with the Tucson because I wanted AWD. It has been one of the biggest mistakes. The first was getting a Hyundai. They don’t care about their consumers. My car has been blowing headlights- having electrical issues (my auto windows go back down when you roll them up, my rear windshield wipers go off whenever they want, my break light seems to go on and off at random. I have reached out because as a company they should only want the best products out there. I was told that “because my car is over 3 years old. There is nothing they can do for me. To bring it to a dealer and “see what I can get” for it. I owe more than it’s worth because one thing they don’t tell you when you buy a Hyundai is they depreciate way faster than you can make payments to survive. DO NOT BUY A HYUNDAI.

@@familybusiness8138 : I have a 2020 tucson Ultimate with 4510 miles and you hit the bull eyes. Hyundai has the worst customer service ever, if gasoline was rum, my car would be on rehab. I only get 17.5 MPG, when they advertizes 26MPG. I purchased it for 32k and now kellys blue book value is 23k with only 4500miles I looking for another car ASAP.

The Only negative point is the positition of directional lights, they are now too low, in the bottom of the SUV behind. It is not safe from my point of view. The interior, the screen little touch options will distraction a lot. It will take longer to manipulate a function as what you normally take in the analog.

Good review. Its quite a modern design. From the side it looks like a mini Lexus. Not sure why they put the rear indicators SO low down though.

I really love your videos. I have a question you might or not be able to answer. I live in the USA and was wondering if you knew if the Petrol Limited AWD (not hybrid) would also have the passenger seat adjustment that the driver can reach and the digital temperature control for the rear passengers? Once again, thank you for all of the reviews you do.

You have to choose the "Walk-In Seat" option for those feature.

New subscriber here! Nice review of a very impressive vehicle. Agree with Rado....you call out the bad and the good which is appreciated. Was seriously looking at the hybrid version of this, but no spare tire torpedoes my interest. Totally unacceptable!

Thanks for your review of this hybrid vehicle. I like the look of the car and it seems it handles quite well. I think it is time Hyundai and KIA start using better tires for their hybrid vehicles. I know the tires add some economy as well however, tires that grips the road and offers better performance is a better option. As with this car and the new Sorento hybrid, they are not only fuel efficient but also handle well with good performance.

Very nice upgrade. I think I would buy this Tucson. Do you know if trim with 2.0 turbo diesel has a classic 8-speed automatic transmission as in the previous generation, or Hyundai completely moved to dual-clutch transmissions? I have read different statements about this and I just don't know what's true and what's not.

The 2.2 diesel is paired with the new 8 speed wet DCT.

On reading more, I find that the base model has an 8" screen *with* Android Auto/Apply CarPlay. However, my major concern and question is this: in the more upscale models with the 10.25" screen (your test drive showed the navigation map) will Android Auto/CarPlay be included? If not that is a serious issue which will dissuade me from showing any more interest in this car. I've had a Lexus ES 350 for 7 years and every year or two I've got to pay Lexus $200 for a map update. Even then, the way the development across the USA is going, these maps go out of date in just a few months. With Android/CarPlay we can get the latest maps on our smartphones PLUS live traffic which we CANNOT get in a USB-drive based navigation system. Could you kindly clarify?

👍 You really pointed out what I hate, no real buttons instead touchscreen buttons (btw it is a hazard, just like using smartphone while driving), dashboard which is just a flatscreen, when sunlight hits it the visibility, glare will be terrible. Also all that shiny piano black, fingerprint magnet. Personally also not a big fan of that hideous grille. All that aside, I like the car. I will wait for new update, face-lift to buy the plug-in Hybrid version. I subbed.

Great review BK! I have to say, I do prefer the old generation styling. It seems like the new Tuscon styling looks confused. The black plastic cladding around the fenders and around the bottom on the exterior of the car suggest off-road capabilities but the interior suggest on-road cruiser. But I'm surprised they didn't have any hybrid badges on the exterior, did Hyundai give a reason for that?

@@MotorgraphWorld Is the instrument cluster customizable to make it look similar to Sonata which shows digital speed inside the speed dial? It doesn't have a HUD so it would be nice to have digital speed. Thanks for showing the hands-free tailgate, a hidden feature!

Regard to the door handles and the doors quality i think the car that buikds in Europe (Czech Republic) is different ! I mean the same car some parts exept the mechanic once are different , deppending on the market they target ! Am I right?

I think the rear turning lights positioned over the rear bumber at the bottom can be dangerous, especially if you have someone on your back too close. What do you think? I really don't understand this approach.

Yeah, absolutely true. I like the all-in-one light module instead of that separated kind. Moreover, putting the signal lights at the low position like that might make them broken when someone hit the car, causing more money for repairing.

It makes it more obvious that the blinker is on being separate from the group of lights. If you can’t see it, you’re driving two feet away from the person.

Awesome review as usual. To me, this Tucson is a step backwards. Too busy, too many crazy angles and definitely will age fast! And what’s with the Mustang rear end and the turn signals almost hitting the road? Ugh.

The AWD version will have better traction but more weight, so probably slightly quicker from a dead stop, but slightly slower during passing...

Fantastic looking vehicle! One negative. Don’t like the position of the rear indicators located along the bumper. To me it’s a safety issue and looks horribly wrong. Should be located amongst the taillight cluster.

The Tucson's noise level is 62 dB @ 100kph, which is 2 dB lower than the Sorento's.

A major safety issue for me is the rear turn signals are at almost their lowest point and should be much high up for greater visibility. This is a huge design defect and enough for me to cross it off my short list. Very disappointed since we are big Hyundai fans.

I like the new Tucson I find it well designed. Who in the world needs a volume knob?!? Everything these days are touch controlled. You can adjust almost anything from your steering instead of going and looking through your center infotainment. You may have your likes and dislikes that goes the same us others. I actually have more "Likes" on the new Tucson than the dislikes. You cannot please everybody and nothing is perfect.

The anti-glare film is coated on the instrument panel, and it works quite well. But it produces some heat.

So Honda and Toyota are starting to smooth out their garish transformer like lines and Hyundai has crashed the party late with this Tuscon. Front end so much potential if the rest followed the same theme but it looks like a RAV4 and RDX angular lines, bulges like Mitsubishi. Then absolutely minimalist nice but bleak interior. Inside and outside don’t follow the same theme either.

Tuscon or Santa Fe? Which would you choose and why? I like the Tuscon. It's lighter and probably handles better.

I think it's a difference in taste. When comparing Santa Fe and Tucson LWB models, the only significant difference is the exterior & interior design and seat configuration. I personally prefer Santa Fe's ride quality tho.

What is the difference in curb weight. The ride quality of course with Santa Fe. But if one is looking for lighter and better handling wouldn't this be the Tuscon (at expense of some ride quality).

@@Ben-bs4od For diesels, which is the only available powertrain for Santa Fe now, 145 Kg (=320 lb) difference in curb weight.

Don’t like this new design, the headlights seem like a step back, I would like knobs on the dash for radio control. The interior seems more confusing and will always have smudges!

Don't mind losing the cowl over the gauges DO mind losing a volume know. The volume knob cannot be improved. Buttons aren't better Honda made this mistake when they redesigned the Civic a couple of years ago They returned to the volume knob 2 years later, after so much negative feedback.

The 2021 model year Tucson is currently on sale in the US. This will be sold as of 2022 model year in 2021.

I love the new aesthetic of the Tucson and the interior is beautiful. Very clean, minimalistic design. I love the fact they just put the speedometer and tachometer screen in a simple setting as opposed to being inside a curved hood. I never really liked the curved hood and this Tucson is following the design aesthetic of EVs. This is the future of all cars. I can assure you the curved hood will be done with in a few years. I wish Hyundai had released this in the US for 2021 we would've bought this in a heartbeat. We had to get the 2020 Sonata Limited instead as that was the only Hyundai with the latest interior and tech and was under $30,000 for the top trim with panoramic roof. I feel bad for my wife as she would've loved to have this as her daily driver over the Sonata. Especially as it's the same price but an SUV/Crossover just has a much more comfortable drive. We may do the unthinkable and trade in the barely one year Sonata as soon as this one is released in the US.

What I don't understand is, you posted this in October 2020. However this vehicle is not going to be released in the United States until later on in 2021, I dont understand, why is there such a delay?

Simple. In Korea, it is a domestic car, but in the US, it is an imported car.
