Great content guys as always. It’s always so hard to find honest and complete comparisons of multiple brands and their various models without bias of the particular KZfaqr elsewhere. What I have found personally is that the shaft makes more difference than the head. The era of stiff and extra stiff is over and lightweight with more flex is where you gain distance
@todaysgolfer

Thanks so much for feeding back Stephen, appreciate your input on shafts too. It does feel that weight has become more important than flex.

Love the video lads, as always, very well done. I think I’ve shared this comment with you before but I’m a moderate swing speed player with the driver (97-100mph), but I do deliver a bit of excess loft and spin. My fitter put me in a Stealth 2+ Driver, 9 degrees turned down to 7.5 with the weight in the center and it has been absolutely excellent for me. The low loft and low spin has offset my high loft and high spin delivery and I’ve gained distance and accuracy in a club I never thought was suited for me with my swing speed and 6.1 handicap. I love that you always emphasize the importance of testing and fitting because you never quite know what will work for you until you try it with a trained fitter. Keep up the good work 🏌🏻‍♂️

Thanks so much Legend, really appreciate your feedback as always. Great you've found a set-up that works for you. Fitting is so important, we see lots of difference between stock settings and dialing Neil into a loft/set-up which gives his optimal numbers.

Thanks for taking the time to feedback, really appreciate it. Will see what we can do on leaving the data on screen for longer. We have toyed with using data for the pair of us before, but years of testing just highlights how even though Simon is a short but consistent driver (swinging driver at 88 - 89 MPH) his data is much more strike than club dependent. Our feeling is we don't want to mislead anyone so having some input from Simon (after hitting the drivers) is useful for slower speeds, where his data would be very much based on how he hit each product on that particularly. Hope that explains.👍

New to the channel. Very informative. Thank you. I do have a question. I am currently a 16 handicap on my way to working down to a single digit this year (goal is 9). Currently at 100 clubhead speed, 142 ball speed. Doing personal training and speed stick training and will be at 105 club speed and about 150 ball speed by spring. Do you suggest the "Max version" of these options or the "middle version" between LS and Max for these options for a new driver. I'm looking at QI10, Ping G430, Callaway AI Smoke, and Cobra Darkspeek?

Hi is there an exact MOI figure on the Ai Smoke Max. Would you say there is a notable difference between the 10k MOI drivers vs Stealth 2022 in terms of forgiveness/ dispersion!?
@chrisimes478

9K on Max according to this video! Look at the Max at the bottom at about 8:30.
@todaysgolfer
@todaysgolfer 7 ай бұрын
It's around 9K. Callaway as you'd expect say not to read too much in to MOI numbers as you want a blend of ball speed, distance and forgiveness. Plus due to how their Ai Smart face is set-up the 'effective' MOI of the Max is higher than the stated 9K.

Could you please help me decide which of the 3 Qi10 Head Options I should get. I’m a 62 year old golfer that usually shoots low 90’s. A Cobra Speed Zone is my current Driver. I’m very inconsistent. I hit right down the middle or I slice right. Sometimes I hit the ball too high on a miss hit. A good carry distance for me is around 220-230. Could you please tell me which of the 3 Head options should I get and what loft?
@todaysgolfer
@todaysgolfer 7 ай бұрын
Hi Robert, it's really tough to say for sure without seeing you hit shots. But from what you have said it sounds like the Max could well be a good option. As for loft you really need to go and give them a try yourself or preferably with a fitter. If you currently use a 10.5deg loft driver, start here but also try the next loft down (a 9deg). Keep an eye on spin numbers, shot height and descent angle, plus how the ball speed numbers are little higher as you reduce loft. Don't be tempted to dial a 10.5deg head down to 8.5deg, this just opens the face angle and encourages a slice. If your current driver is 12deg start here and try a 10.5deg. Make sure you try both the standard stock Fujikura Speeder NX shaft (Simon felt it unloaded to early in the downswing) and the Mitsubishi Tensei a stock shaft in the standard Qi10 driver head. Hope that helps.

Great review guys, I am a high spin player with close to 180 mph ball speed so I have always gravitated towards the low spin drivers despite not being that accurate so I could do with some more forgiveness, so how do you think the 9 degree Darkspeed X (with the heavy weight forward) would perform vs the Darkspeed LS?
@todaysgolfer
@todaysgolfer 7 ай бұрын
Thanks Scott appreciate the feedback. Understand where you're coming from. We've just been hitting the X and LS together this week in different settings. For us at least the X with a front weight setting was spinning a fraction less than the LS and flying a little bit lower, which might not be optimal for you. Try both and see how you get on. Gut feel is MOI won't be too far apart, but just in favour of the X.

Hey guys great video. I’m a fairly high swing speed player. About 167-170 ball speed and I’m also a high spin player. My G430 LST and I just aren’t getting along at the moment. It’s set to max lowering setting from 9 degree with the stock chrome X flex shaft. Even on perfect strikes I’m still at 3500-3800 back spin. What’s the ultimate spin killer of these models?
@todaysgolfer
@todaysgolfer 7 ай бұрын
We've done additional testing since the video was filmed, and the Callaway Ai Smoke TD and Cobra Darkspeed LS can certainly cut spin. You can see our test data on all of the 2024 low spin drivers here shorturl.at/eimY0

I have a question. If you order a driver from a company such as Ping and you want it shorter than normal say 44 inches or so do they cut some off the butt end or do they already have well balanced shafts pre made for golfers who don't want a full length driver??? Thanks guys.
@todaysgolfer
@todaysgolfer 6 ай бұрын
It depends on the company Joseph. There won't be shorter shafts made for those wanting to play a shorter driver, so some cutting from tip or butt will have to take place. How much depends on the company's ability to re-weight the head so the swing weight remains at a playable level. Hope that helps.
@josephdubiel7129
@josephdubiel7129 6 ай бұрын
Thank you very much. Love your video reviews. The two of you are nothing short of terrific. Being only 5 ft 6 inches tall put me in the spot where I really needed a shorter driver for myself. Hence I am having Ping make one for me. Picking up a G 425 Max as they are priced pretty well right now. Jack Nicklaus actually played with a driver under 43 inches. :) I use one at 43.75 inches. Easier for me to control.

Hi I swing about 90 to 95 mph with driver and I want to look at an LS model, I strike it mainly in centre, my miss is my fault not squaring the face up, so if I hit it left or right it still comes from the centre as by the strike marks on face tape. I use 10 degree and it goes so hi and drops out the sky with no roll. DO YOU think I could use a Ls model at my speed? I like the slightly fade shot but I'm looking for more roll out.
@todaysgolfer
@todaysgolfer 7 ай бұрын
Thanks for the question. You really need to find a fitter who can help you decide whether an LS driver is for you or not. Which will come through trialling several models. Delivery is really important with LS models as they're usually designed for an upward attack onto the ball, so downward attack angles can lead to generating more spin not less. You have to appreciate LS drivers are designed to lower spin for higher speed players, so it's unlikely they will be your best option, but it's not impossible they could be a solution for you. Go and give a couple a try. You'll soon know if they're going to help or hinder your on game course performance. Hope that helps.

Why would you compare an 8.5 to a 10.5 in looking at distance? Of course the 8.5 will spin less and roll out further. It's physics. Wait till you get the proper lofts and heads in if you're doing a true head to head video. 👎
@todaysgolfer
@todaysgolfer 7 ай бұрын
Because we believe it's the right thing to do when we can clearly see our usual 10.5deg loft is spinning too much (so it's not an optimal setup) for the tester. We show both sets of data so viewers can see the difference. Doing anything else would be misleading...right?
