my new headcanon is that this is the K'vort

They've kind of doubled the width of the lower secondary hull level. It's bulked it out. Clever thing to do, along with making the wing movement mechanism less involved... The underside also makes it feel like whole new class. When you consider how much attrition it must have gone through in the Dominion war it makes sense they'd have iterated it as they built numbers back up.

I can't help but laugh when I look at this design, but for a very strange reason. So you know when you're at the gym, and there's a guy there doing dead lifts, and he's going for a new personal record, he's got like 250kg on the barbell, he's shaking with effort going up, holds it a few seconds, slams the barbell down, and then he walks off with his shoulders back and his arms out to the side, and he's real happy with himself and got that whole "F**k yeah, you see that?" energy. That's what this BoP looks like to me

am starting to think they layers for the impulse systems has gone wrong cos no one goes to the trouble of putting together a fleet like this but they didnt know enough how to light them properly.

I noticed

Looks great, though the original Bird of Prey's wings could always move under the articulated "armor" plates on the side. This is most notable in "The Voyage Home" film. I always felt the design was cool but a bit off technically. It would have made more sense to put the warp nacelles where the cannons are on the wings and put the guns on the hull where the warp nacelles are. Which seems to be kinda what the new modeler did with the hull cannons. Incidentally the "round thing" on the bottom is the landing gear, again clearly featured in "The Voyage Home".

The design definitely looks lile its designed for strafing/ hit and run which i always thought suited the bird of pray.

At 10:10 that rear photorp launcher can be seen in action in DS9, in Way o t Warrior or one of the other battles between Starfleet and the Klingon fleet. There is a BoP firing from its impulse deck onto the Defiant which pursues it in close quarters

It looks good. Just kinda sad that they forgot to turn on the impulse engines (and also forgetting to render them at all on the USS Sovereign).

I'm glad to see a spotlight on this. I've wanted and expected a BoP refresh since DS9. Sadly, this really kinda disappointed. it didn't even seem newer or more advanced. Just different and same tech level.

Between this and the variant seen in Lower Decks, could we finally have unique seperate designs to retroactively apply to the wildly differing sizes of B'rel seen in the TNG era? Like, yes we know and accept the K'vort but even with it's unique designation there's still no way to justify it being *exactly* the same just bigger. These new designs give us options to sympathetically retcon those issues away...

Another example of how the animated series teams are doing what the live action teams seem to not be able to do.

I like some elements of it, but I don't like the bridge section. specifically it clearly having two decks close together. It could work as another model of similar size and purpose to the Brel if it didn't have two decks in the bridge- I'm not sure there is enough space for two decks to comfortably fit in a ship the size of the b'rel. It could work as a replacement for the K'vort which infamously just used the same model as the 'brel with its wings up if there weren't several elements which seem to indicate it's supposed to be almost identical in scale to the Brel-would like to see more details scaling it as a larger ship if that was the case like components that are similar to the K'tinga or Vorcha. Too many components too similar and the same proportion to the rest of the ship in a manner similar to the B'Rel for it to be a ship the size of the K'vort IMO.

For me, I`m sticking with the classic. I`d like to see orthos on the new one though.

never completely buyed that as a cloaking ring..but..mostly because none of the tech manuals are canon. Official paramount line forever has been only the visual media themselves is canon. So..unless a show comes out and says thats what it is.. its just a neat design choice. But new design is cool
