My dad had a MF 1135 when I was growing up in Northeast Wisconsin (USA). It was our big tractor on our small dairy farm. We plowed, disked, dragged, chisel plowed, chopped haylage & corn silage. When it was a little muddy, we would pick corn with it cuz our little MF 265 would get stuck easily. It was put on our Farmhand grinder/blower (1000pto) to grind hi-moisture ear corn to put in a silo. Take care Mike & Family. Best of luck with '23 harvest. Stay safe.

That is one SWEET looking 1135, damn. Brings back memories of when I grew up on the farm. My grandpa owned the farm dealership in our town when I was a kid growing up on the farm mid 70s to early 80s and we always had the newest and best Massey Ferguson tractors, 1105, 1135 and the king of all the 1155. Seeing one in that great of condition now days goes straight to my heart.

The problem with the modified parking brake arrangement is that it is on a hydraulic system. It works sort of like a micro lock, there will be hydraulic leak-down over time, so it should not be used to park on inclines over extended periods, like days etc. The machine will eventually run down the incline.

They are good tractors, rebuilt a MF 1105. TOP list of things to look out for: PTO drive coupler might be warn, $20 part but wears quickly as it's above the hydraulic line in the transmission, hydraulic pump, clutch bearing, loose parking break lever on the side sometimes jambs when parked on a slope. I've got to find out why my hydarulic pump seems to be surging a little at certain rev's. WOW nice parking break idea, I am going to implement that one we have a lot of hills here in Ontario.

MF 1105 and 1135 are both turbocharged. 1105 has smaller head (plungers) in the injection pump, meaning longer injection time which in turn means more smoke, less effiency and power. Turbo is different too, as 1105 has the ATC6.354 engine in which the "C" stands for "compensated" or lightly turbocharged so to speak. Speaking of the V8, the Perkins V8.540 engine in MF 1155 is probably one of the best V8 diesels in tractors, but they are expensive to rebuild and parts are quite hard to find these days.

If your going to go down the road of painting, all our old masseys I generally do the grey part myself. Because you generally paint over almost everything. But take the red parts to a car paint shop and get it done in 2 pack. Then it won’t fade on you and in 10 years it’ll still look decent if it gets left outside a fair bit.

Ah Mike. I would never weld on or to a pto shaft. You would crystallize the shaft and it would fail at the weld. A smarter way is to have a new shaft made, with the proper splines and diameter then properly hardened, then reinstalled. Nothing wrong with the old school

I thought the 1105's were also turbocharged, but less boost and lower fuel setting for 105 pto hp while the 1135 was set up for 125 hp...but I could be wrong and we never had an 1105, but I put many hours in our 1135. It was very versatile, everything from planting to baling (we had one of the first round balers in our area and did a lot of custom baling) to running a silage blower. It was a very good starting tractor in the cold and I did a lot of snow removal in the late seventies when we had real winters here in Indiana. The worst thing about it was when cultivating, the steering crept to one side so you had to pay attention and constantly adjust to the opposite side. For other jobs it wasn't noticeable. It's nice to see one of these older MF units running, they are very rare around here now.
