I see the pose as he's in the anticipatory position of springing up into the air to perform a 2-handed over-head hammer blow to the opponent. Probably some innocent Nomad who just wants to keep humans free from the tyranny of AI. There is a concept in photography, back in the very beginnings, that I can't remember the name of, or who first describe it, but the idea is that when trying to capture action you want to capture that moment of stillness. The apex of a jump, when the jumper is almost hanging in the air before gravity is victorious. This is that moment, all of Ajax is coiled like a spring. The very next frame he is up in the air, the hammer's haft sliding through his hands until he has two hands around the grip and is ready to bring it all crashing down.

Old Ajax - immediately looks like A mythical Ajax. New Ajax .. looks like dollar store knock off Thanos

Nail. On. The. Head. Fact is N3 sculpts were absolute fire - Red Veil, every model is amazing, Tunguska every model amazing, Shasvaasti every model amazing, Invincible Army - a glorious chonk squad plus Su Jian. CB have new sculptors and on the whole they're a tier below the old ones - posing is weaker, faces are disproportionate. The detailing is as good as ever but that is really ancillary when the posing is lacking dynamism. They still have some great sculpts coming through but nothing making my jaw drop like some of those older sets.

I’m still this way with Xwing. Not with the models but with the rules. I find myself mumbling in the corner “I remember when positioning mattered.”

Laughed when he mentioned malifaux. I love malifaux, but I'd love it more if it had silhouette rules instead of its wonky size/height thing. As for the model, I've always enjoyed the realistic posing on my infinity models. Makes for a nice contrast to the chonksters on my warhammer shelf. I think the new Ajax is just too beefy. I get he's a larger than life hero reborn; but this one almost looks like an MCP model.

The new model initially underwhelmed me. It’s growing on me, but I fully agree the old model is better.

Agreed the new model could have gone a more epic direction. Like a proud hero standing doing a capt Morgan pose pointing that hammer at the next face he’s gonna smash. Just asking to be challenged

The old model looked very much like a comic book cover art, the new one just look like a new 3d printable miniature. On the argumente, thought onmalifaux selling STLs?

Looking forward to full colour 3d prints that are fully articulated and posable minis. Come on CB wha cha waiting for!

I have and prefer the old model. I may get the new one as a proxy for Agamemnon since I really dislike that model.

I love the new model. I love the old model. I think CB has the undesirable position of being told by vocal people on the internet that they are tired of the same posing and then when CB does something different other vocal people on the internet complain. Is every model a success? Hell no. They’ve made some weird stuff. But I would prefer they take chances over not taking them. Now excuse me while I try to figure out how to repose my Road Bot.

The way he is holding the hammer looks wrong like he is carrying it, not like he is about to smash the F out of something. Agamemnon also looks dumb he is holding the incorrectly to hit anything. Missed opportunities.
