@@Johnmillward9092 Learn to watch a game with a neutral eye. Then, you can clearly see the Netherlands got robbed. The penalty is not a penalty. Saka even made hands before it, so most definitely, no penalty. And even the last goal by England (even tough it was a nice goal) was set up by the referee, which gave 3 fouls to a Dutch player that did absolutely nothing wrong in a row in the last 5 minutes or so... this way obviously the Dutch pressure got stopped and the English got their free chance, then made good use of it. All in all an obvious robbery. It should have been the Netherlands in the final.

To be fair, something can be said for both viewpoints. First half England was clearly better, but second half the Dutch were the more threatening team, with some excellent saves by the English goalkeeper. I think it's stupid to say the Dutch were furious, they were more disappointed in the moment. And whereas the English have had some luck with these decisions falling their way, the Dutch have both in WC and EC matches had the decisions consistently fall against them. Match could have gone either way. Both teams played the best match they played so far and it was a good match to watch unlike the Argentine Dutch match, which was a terrible clusterfuck with a Spanish referee speaking Spanish with the Argentine players..

The law states that any player who lunges in with studs showing is yellow/red card offence. The Dutch player raised his foot with his studs showing. This is regarded as dangerous play. That's why it was deemed a penalty.

It was Kane who had kicked the Dutch player's boot !! VAR should have noticed that just half a second earlier, Saka had clrealry passed the ball with his hand to Kane !! These incompetent VAR officials and the refree must be banned for life for such a disgraceful blunder!! Holland was clearly robbed!! Unbelievable!!

That was a clean attempt to block the shot. It's Kane who had kicked and caught Dumfries boot!! It's so shocking that VAR would unnecessarily stop the play and penalize a player for something that did NOT happen.. and yet could not spot that clear handball by Saka !! VAR is being manipulative !! Disgraceful!!

How can some people say not a handball? You can clearly see Saka's right hand going up because he touches the ball/ball touches his hand. If youre not convinced this is a handball, then what is he doing with his left arm after that? And then the ball goes directly to Kane. It should never have been a penalty.

Obviously you have never played football. I am 71 years old now and played amateur level football until I was 41. I only mention this because I was a central defender and all I can say the Dutch defender was attempting to play the ball and not the man. It was Kanes follow through that brought him into contact with the defender. The ball deviated from its true path indicating that the defender did actually make contact with the ball. No Penalty.

There was nothing unfair about that game, the defender didn't mean to hurt Kane but the fact that his studs still hit him makes it a foul. Saka's unintentional contact with his arm that made little difference to the ball's direction does not make it a handball. So please stop using these stupid reasons as an excuse to why the Dutch lost. We are better accept that instead of acting like sour losers.

Wrong, the defenders studs didn’t hit Kane, Kane hit the defenders studs. Pretty significant difference. Dumfries blocked, didn’t have his leg stretched, Kane followed through on a mid air ball and then hit Dumfries. In no way that is dangerous play from the defender and in no universe should that ever be a penalty.

The defender should have not faced his studs up to him but instead the top of his shoe where you are supposed to kick a ball. @@Dropje86 It doesn't matter. By raising his studs, Dumfries opens up the possibility of a dangerous play contact foul. If you read the IFAB laws, there is nothing that says it is only classified as a foul if the contact is made intentionally by the player with the studs up. Dumfries wants to try to block the shot with his studs up? Okay, although technically that's an IFK offence if another player is going for the ball. But when Kane's follow-through makes contact, it becomes a contact foul by Dumfries, EVEN IF DUMFRIES DIDN'T INTEND THAT CONTACT. It's very similar to the "hands in a natural position" logic with handballs. Even if you didn't intend it, it's on you if it happens. DFK foul, in the area, thus a penalty. That's why the VAR team brought it to the referee's attention.

@trancemb Okay I'll give a more grown up response, I've watched the incident over and over and it's not clear if the ball touched Saka's hand, even if it did it doesn't mean it was handball and much depends on the ref's interpretation of the rules, was it intentional? Did he gain control of the ball? The way the ball was spinning and the way it looped up it's impossible to say, without the use of the snickometer we can't even be sure there was contact, however we certainly didn't need the snickometer to know that Dumfries studs were raised and made clear contact with Kane's foot, if he'd got something on the ball then fine but he didn't.

For once, I agree with Gary Neville. Never a penalty. Simply saying that the better team won is a bollocks comment. Football is notoriously fickle. Ball in the net, and the decisions that lead to them, are what's important. And that decision for Kane was just wrong. He had already hit the ball, and the connection from Drumfries did not affect that. At worst, it was an indirect free kick.

Even if the penalty wasn’t given England would have won in my opinion. It’s football! Sometimes decisions are for you and sometimes it goes the other way. England has had its share of decisions against them. You can argue to the cows come home it’s not going to change anything. I say win convincingly and play as your life depends on it to the last second. Spain will be tough and forget about getting lucky with decisions. Why would England have won without the penalty? As more time went on... they played worse and worse. The Dutch had the upper hand for most of the second half, and England needed the ref to call for 3 non-existing fouls of a Dutch player in a row in the last 5 minutes or so to turn the game around and finally get that chance to score.. If it was 1-1 and it went to extra time, i'd say the Dutch were on their way to victory. But we will never know, as the ref/var decided England should move on to the finals.

Obviously it's not a CLEAR handball ...the angle in this video does not 100% show a handball as its from behind the player so can be misconstrued....however if you watch the USA coverage they had 3 angles of it and 1 of them actually does CLEARLY show it didn't hit his hand....do your research before calling people idiots instead of relying on a video that is not a clear angle at all

Penalty or not, something needs to be done about this ridiculous hand ball rule when it is clear on many occasions that it would have been impossible for a player to get his hand out of the way, so much so that you often get the attacking side deliberately aiming at that region of the defender knowing it is going to be a Penally come what may.

If one look’s at the footage one can clearly see that number 7 Chappie has in-fact hindered the travel motion of the football, by means of his arm limb. Therefore a penalty should quite clearly not be awarded to the English/British team.

"Studs first" on a player to TACKLE them is an issue. Now be Dumfries.. would you try to block the shot? (This isn't basketball) To block that shot your studs are up. If he aimed to hit Kane he missed. Plus the defender's foot came in AFTER the shot got off. No attempt to injure or tackle Kane. Their feet touched side edge to side edge.... and of course Kane goes down howls in pain holding the top of his foot then springs up to take the penalty. Yes that's football but facts are facts via diverse visual evidence.

All these comments, with the saka and the penalty, your either all Dutch, racists, blind or unintelligent. 1. The ball didn’t seem to touch Saka’s hand 2. If it did touch saka’s hand on the occasion where shot it and it bounced back up, if that did touch his hand it would had been natural position as he wouldn’t of had enough time to fully move his hand, which is what he seemed to have tried to do. 3. The penalty might not have supposed to be given but either way England tied in the last minute so there would have been a good chance Netherlands didn’t win anyways. 4. It probably should had been a penalty because it was studs up and dangerous. Thank you for considering these points.
