Just started playing. These discussion videos are pretty good to get a hold of whats up. Just build blue purple croc as my first deck. Loving the deck so far, it just feels kinda meh in strength to whats out there. Anyways, cheers!

The only issue was that it had a free draw outlet and even great eruption replaces itself in every black deck. You may complain about new genesis but it is locked to green uta.

Removing Great Eruption is a hard thing for smoker players or even Moria, you want as much value reducing costs and having a draw bonus which those decks don’t have

Why didn’t they make sakas ability like a “discard a card:choose one” kinda like Perona. Wouldn’t have butchered him but he wouldn’t have been as strong.

My problem I have with big mom 10 cost is very simple. It has 2 very powerful effects as well as being a massive body you have to deal with. They gain a life and you trash a life which you don’t even get that card and now deal with massive body. I played saka into katakuri match and played through 7 cost big mom, 8 cost katakuri, and two 10 cost big mom. They dropped their third 10 cost big mom and I knew I lost this match as I can no longer deal with that.

Also I feel like we can see some more vanillas seeing play and maybe even the "when attacking" coming back so some slower cards can come back. Honestly I see Uta kinda popping off now

And they create an other monster in op08 that ist kinda similar to saka. The Marcos leader is gonna be pretty strong

I will always advocate for choice restrictions. That is the perfect way to hit decks that are strong without gutting the rest. For example: Choice restrict Rebecca and Sakazuki Leader(you can choose to play one or the other in a deck)

Made more sense to ban saka then errata that actual card because it would’ve cause too much confusion and bs for a card in a set we don’t know will be reprinted.

Great Eruption hurts. Gotta find out what to do with Gecko.

So far the bans are for JP metas so unless eng bandai says it sticks we should still get it later until op07 based off how boat ban was handled

6:00, I think it was either banning Sakazuki or banning or restricting a bunch of blue/ black cards. They can't hit Rebecca given it has an SP, Lucci has an SP, and Borsa (7) has an SP. Although it makes sense for them to be banned/ restricted in some way, given how strong they are, it doesn't make sense from the company's perspective. Although Hound Blaze was an issue and could have been banned, I am pretty sure everyone knows that hound blaze sucks unless you are specifically playing Sakazuki. The leader doesn't have any upcoming SP version, and only has AA that came out in OP05 (which is being rotated out for op06), thus by banning Sakazuki, it doesn't hurt their profits, minimizes loss of card choice, and solves the issue that the community wants.

The new version of saka could see play only cuz of the same card pool and being able to attack… not like rebecca “unable to atk”

Building for more than one deck is an impossibility. It is like building for Zoro, Saka and Yellow it is all different right. Bandai needs to fix it by giving us a 15-card side deck to handle multiple match-ups. This game is too competitive to have a straight 50-card deck and like have a one-off tech that you may never see or is useless for everything else. And it is not a wrong thing to have more than one good deck. That is the hallmark of a good competitive meta where multiple decks are topping. And Saka being gone is a problem for the game more than a help.

I think the great eruption ban is fair. In Asia decks like Rob Lucci can play 8 copies and I feel that it is way too much free value for decks like that.

Unless you’re dumping Hina for the new saka effect it’s basically useless.

Bandai hates saka players because they don’t play battle spirit.

I hate Sakazuki but banning the entire leader was too much, I think adding choose one when attacking with 1 don would have been a good nerf, maybe banning great eruption aswell. (That said it's true a lot of leaders can be played now so the game is going to be more fun, maybe)

As a player that just bought his first one piece deck and it was sakazuki, I am incredibly pissed. If they had hit rebecca/hina/lucci/houndblze/eruption all at once i still woudve been totally fine with that because i had found my favorite deck and i can always make changes. Now i guess ill just sell my stuff and go back to yugioh.

No need to worry about Nami. She is being dealt with. Op06 gives a few bombs that guarantee Nami cannot win and Moria has like an 80/20 match vs Nami.

Ill be honest Im a mediocre Sakazuki player...in the truest sense of the term. I can win locals and push decently far in a larger event, but getting top 8 in big events with saka evaded me. I have never been as happy playing this game as when I am playing Saka. I love the discard and draw, drawing cards and playing removal...it did everything I wanted and was one of my favorite characters. With this banning, I don't know if I will be coming back to the game...the deck was everything I wanted out of the card game, and now i got like 2 weeks to play with a deck I had been fiending over since op03 when we first saw spoilers. If these bans are carried over to the west.....I guess I'm out of this game.

Ban Reject because is awfull and unfair to deal 1 damage for free but not restrict 10C Big Mom who does the same thing but better it's strange... The people who say, it's hard to play 10C Big Mom are stuck in op03. With all the strong healing and swarm board trigger, it's difficult now to not find the window to play The Big Mom. At least, saka prevented this kind of game. I always said, the yellow balance it's just a question of HP. Just cut katakuri to 4 HP and Enel to 3. It's pretty fair especially when we see vegapunk with 3HP even though he can't attack. Besides, the last one won't be able to do anything against kata with his free trash HP or banish things..

General player bases as a whole hate control decks. As an old school yugioh player people hated royal oppression which is now banned. In MTG the most hated color by the masses is blue yet in mtg its necessary evil. OP being a game that you cant counter cards from being played saka was the closest deck to removing anything that would be problematic for them making it the control deck of OP. The masses just hate control in any card game.

8:25-8:34 is just the most incorrect statement ever, plenty of decks are hard checked by saka far more than enel. The best deck couldnt possibly gatekeep more than the 2nd best deck

Coming from YGO, it's scary that they can just ban a Leader and destroy an entire deck. I was expecting hits but this was WAY too much. Where was this energy in Japan for Whitebeard? He was more dominant and only Red was winning. At least now we have a triangle format and other colors are top tier. Very sad day for me. Great Eruption and the terrible retrain was the rotten cherry on top.

The ban is okay, Sakazuki was too good, but the errata really stings. It’s completely useless. If it at least still had the cycle “discard a [navy] to -1 cost OR draw a card” then it would’ve been at least playable and I don’t think it would’ve been that strong either. The errata will see 0 play and is just a waste of paper.
