First part in a series about building a crank organ that is MIDI compatible and has 28 pipes using scrap material. Building the frame, bellows, and crankshaft mechanism. Based largely on the organs of John Smith and Ronald Walters, I added 8 extra pipes for added range from the usual 20 and opted for developing my own solenoid valves to actuate the pipes. I also implement a miter gear design to change the crank location from in the back to on the side, making the cranking process easier for the user. Enjoy!
