Ruby Storm is a budget Red Legacy Storm combo based around Ruby Medallion to reduce mana costs. Additionally, there's Birgi, God of Storytelling! The goal of today's deck is to accelerate into a brand new card from Outlaws of Thunder Junction (OTJ) - Elemental Eruption! THIS NEW CARD SAYS STORM!
Ruby Storm can usually be defined by the core of Ruby Medallion, Seething Song, Burning Wish, and Birgi, God of Storytelling.

Exciting League! The sideboard looked a little strange to me aswell, but I just wanted to submit the list as it was posted in case I missed something. I piloted the list thought some leagues myself and managed to poison an Atraxa and Murktides, but I felt like one big advantage of Elemental Eruption as a payoff is that it already creates an aerial defense against DRCs and Delvers even at low storm counts, so I will try switching some of the Pick your Poisons to Veils.

why isn't there a burst of speed in the sideboard? tutorable with wish and makes it so you can actually finish the game the turn you play the dragons.

@@jaysmith7062wrenn’s resolve/the other identical one are in a way the glue holding ruby storm together, they let you chain into each other to get big storm counts but you need to be running 8 to get the best odds to chain them into each other.

This may be a little too "Timmy" but is there a way to fit a First Day of Class into the deck/sideboard or some haste enabler I'm not thinking of so you wouldn't have to pass the turn? Decklist seems fine and probably better without it, but just spitballing. Edit: First Day of Class is an instant so it doesn't work with Burning Wish like I imagined. :/

@@TheEPICStorm [[Burst of Speed]] is a 1 mana sorcery that would have won you the game in several spots. May be worth a single sideboard slot.

I would hesitate to say it’s always better than dragonstorm as with the correct dragons in your deck dragonstorm is a same-turn kill whereas it seems you often have to pass a turn by with the eruption

Would it be correct to have an Alchemist’s Gambit or something similar in the side so you don’t have to lose to passing the turn?

It's not good IMO. The One Ring is less than 2% of the meta, a sideboard slot is worth 7% (100/15). It's literally not worth it, you get further by trying to not beat everything and instead having more cards that are applicable in several matchups.

I like the idea of pulverize, hastegiver, and going monored to really avoid any land hate- whats the math on cutting fetches? Fewer lands overall?

I have been tearing up at the knowledge that this card’s printing is probably gonna have to mean the end of hunting pack in my legacy cube… super fun spell though, there’s a reason it replaces H-Pack: Just sad to see the pack go at the same time.

@@TheEPICStorm Swapping the 3 non-basic lands for mountains like you suggested, we would have 17 lands. So I would cut 2 Questing Druid and 1 Elemental Eruption (it goes to the sideboard). The last cut I'm not sure. Maybe we can play with 16 lands, 4 Tombs, 4 Fetches and 8 mountains ?

I don’t think a fair amount of the wishboard is doing anything(at least in this list) and in the ten matches I’ve seen of this deck in your and Phil’s leagues it would have won 3 games which seems totally worth the slot. I would also just definitely have the 4th rite in the deck tho and an empty in the sideboard so maybe this is just emblematic of the wider construction issues you kept bringing up.

That's pretty obnoxious, reminds me back when Classic was a format on MTGO because power 9 didn't exist on mtgo. Was pretty stupid at the time and that was a long, long time ago. Maybe they'll release it eventually when they realize it makes them money.

@@dstreetz91I think the only reason they're not doing it is that they fucked up the licensing agreements for Universes Beyond, so it would actually cost them more money to put the cards online. The reason Warhammer took so long is likely because they had to wrangle a new deal with Games Workshop because the absence was becoming a problem for Legacy, and it seems reasonable that whatever deal they made with GW originally is the same one they made with Bethesda.

JW, why did you play the Shatterskull Smashing t1 knowing they were a Wasteland deck? You should play the fetch, nowing you could pay 3 life to make the Shatterskull smashing be untapped so you dont lose tempo. Probably would have made the difference the last game.

-3 shatterskull, +1 RG scry land, +1 city of traitors, +1 fetch? Needs more maindeck relays. Also agree 100% that SB is too janky. Veil > mindbreak. Not having 1 warrens in board is strange. Otherwise the deck seems very good. Wizards should print this: R, sorcery: until end of turn all creatures have haste. Draw a card.

You could entomb anger to get haste. Maybe if you had echo of eons too. But if you go blue-black-red, then you just play beseech storm instead.

Shoutout to hunting pack in solidarity lists splashing green for it. Elemental eruption is so much better as a card though with the only edge that hunting pack has is instant speed, but usually that doesn't matter. I, too, was baffled by sideboard rite of flame in a deck like this it just looked odd with 4 eruptions maindeck it looked like one was meant to be a wish target or at least have an empty in the board since you can just oops spit out 10 goblins turn 1 with some draws though it is less likely without LED. Certainly a fun deck though.
