Changing The Guard on Sunday 12th May 2024. A very busy and warm day.
Afraid i only managed to get some of it as there were a lot of others events happening.

Another Fantastic video once again MrBaton!!! I probably sound like a broken record by now, but I do mean it!! The marches played were, (Band & Bugles of the Rifles) 1) 13:55-Double Century 2) 14:19-Sons of the Brave (Band of the Welsh Guards) 3) 15:17-Bravura 4) 18:25-The Purple Pageant 5) 22:06-The Thin Red Line

Dear Wizard: Some additional details of "Triple Century" please. A cricket march ? I think this may solve a long-term mystery for me. thx

@@meadowlands1937 Hello Sir Meadowlands, O.R.D.O (Officer of the Royal Delvinian Order). From the very little information I've gathered about this march, I believe it was composed by one of the Musicians in one of the BAB Brass Bands, BAB Tidworth I think. Yes, it is a "Cricket" march. I've yet to stumble upon some rock solid information. I was lucky enough to be able to find out it's name, because I watched a video where the Musicians were close enough to the camera for me to be able to zoom in and read the march cards. My apologies for not having more info on this interesting march! Take care Sir! I

@@delvinrodriguez3341 A guess will do for the moment: Is this brand new or has it been around for a few years. Gurkhas do not normally slow march, and I've heard them use something when leaving Buckingham Palace (as in this video) --- think it was Gurkha Logistics Regt, and sounds like this from the 3 notes I heard. Intriguing Sir.

@@meadowlands1937 I can't exactly remember when I first stumbled into the video where I obtained the name from the march cards, but it was the last time the Brass Bands took part in the Guard Mounts. They where leading the Old Guard Out of Buck House, and they played it. Can't remember if it was the Engineers or The Scottish Gunners. Or even the Gurkhas themselves.

@@delvinrodriguez3341 Thanks for usual speedy reply. I'll see what I have bookmarked for BAB brass. Wouldn't be Gurkhas as they only march with 140/180 pace capable bands.

That Looks Very Much like DS Chusa Siwale leading the Band of the Welsh Guards from BP Up the Mall to SJP with the New Guard Mounted by Nijmegen Company Grenadier Guards. I have to say I'm really Surprised DS Siwale hasn't been given his Baldric yet, I've been watching him for the last 6 Months & although I'm certainly No Expert, his Performance to me has been & is Excellent! Good Morning to Jonathon Lockwood (Nearest the Camera) aka The Man with the Lungs of Steel, on Bass Trombone & Sounding Nice & Strong this Morning. OH! I really like "Purple Pageant" a lovely new March for me, this is the 2nd time I've heard it. The Welsh Band is Owning it!! This is a Truncated Version of your Usual Guard Change Videos Mr B, but Considering this is the 4th Video of Great Military Music Parades around London that you've done today, No one's Complaining. I've only Mentioned it because I've pointed a Few Newbies towards your Channel in the last week, so I want to make sure they know this isn't your Normal Video & Hopefully they'll go look at your other 3 Videos too. It's Still a Great Video though & I always think there's a Spark of Something Special when the DM or DS is leading the Band of their own Regiment. The Band & DS Siwale Look & Sound Great as they Step Out up the Mall. You did Good again Mr B!! Thanks for showing Us!

Hello Vicky! The Band of the Welsh Guards had a second Bass Trombonist on loan today, G. Craik of the Coldstream Guards. Another man with Strong Lungs. He's one of my favourites.

@@delvinrodriguez3341 Hello Delvin-Pedia! I was pretty sure there were 2 Bass Trombones, I spotted Jonathon nearest to the Camera, the Family Resemblance is Striking. I thought the 2nd Bass Trombone was at the other end of the 1st Rank, if I can't get a Good Look at the Pipes over the Shoulder or the Bell, I tend to watch the Slide Work & Match it to what I'm hearing. I prefer to be a little more sure before I say anything, because I'd rather not be Opening my Mouth to Change Feet! I'm a little disappointed DS Chusa Siwale hasn't got his Baldric, because I think he's Bloody Marvellous! but I'm the first to admit I'm no Expert & maybe there's other Parts of his Training Yet to be Done. He Certainly does Well out in Front though. I was hoping he'd get a Berth in the Trooping the Colour Next Month. Ah Yes! I've seen you talk about Bandsman Craik before & you're right, he's very Good, but not as Good as my Favourite though 😜😉😁. It's Surprising they managed to get him, with The Coldstream Guards having their Black Sunday Parade today. That was a Great Parade too. Hope all is well at the Library, Much Love, Huggz & Kisses to all 🥰🤗😘😘 Especially to the Chief Librarian! Take Care & look after each other!

@@vickyRoyalHistory Dear Vicky: Allow me a brief note on nomenclature. While the term "baldric" is used by some bands and is much favoured by fans of Blackadder who march , it is not accurate in this context. Army Dress Regulations for the Household Division (2019) , refer to "shoulder belt" although "sash" is also acceptable in daily parlance.

I'm sorry, I was just following the Name I'd been Told it was & What it Signified, which was that the Wearer had Completed their Training & was now Qualified as a Drum Major. I didn't know it was an Incorrect Term. I shall try to Remember, but wouldn't "Sash" cause Confusion with the Red Colour Sash? & isn't the Shoulder Belt the Thing the Household Cavalry Wear with the Ammo Box or Pouch thing on the Back? I'm not try to be Smart, I just wondered. I listened to those Pieces of Music too, There are some very Lovely ones.

@@vickyRoyalHistory Vicky. It's because you DO wonder that I bothered to correct you. Your comments above are all correct. Sash does conflict with the scarlet or crimson NCO/WO rank sashes. AND the officers waist sashes. It's in the context. The DM shoulder belt is analogous to the Household Cavalry or Royal Artillery or Gurkha shoulder belt. By definition, a baldric is used to support something -- a sword or maybe your car keys, but the term is used for Scottish pipe band DMs. Here's another--the peony red (some call it crimson) waist thingee worn by DMs in State Dress is officially a "scarf" although some call it a sash or apron. We're dealing with close to 400 years of history here , Indiana Jones and the Dead Sea Scrolls had an easier time of it, so never apologize for taking a bit of time to sort things out. That's the fun of this subject.
