Disney has always had a habit of keeping a theme with their shows. Do you remember Disney from 2005-2010? The era of everyone having a secret. Secretly being a pop star,secretly being a wizard,secretly being a psychic. Doesn’t surprise me at all that all of a sudden they have a lot superhero shows.

This show is kinda like a combination of many kids shows like The Thundermans, Wizards of waverly place, and Lab rats. It reminds us of the Thundermans except it’s a family of villains instead of hero’s. Wizards of waverly place with the sibling dynamics and the name of the show (especially with Amy). It also reminds me of lab rats because of well, their lab lol. I guess the intro also kinda feels mechanical so in a way that reminds me of lab rats, if that makes sense. The patio really reminded me of Liv and Maddie, and it’s cool that they got Mrs. Dabney from Good Luck Charlie. I also guess since their villains with colorful hair it can remind people of descendants. I love that there is another show with the classic secret identity too, after all my favorite shows are Hannah Montana and Wizards of waverly place. I admit when I first saw the previews for this show and the beginning of the first episode it felt like a stereotypical cheesy Disney show. However after the first and second episode, it actually looks like it can be quite promising. I’ve always liked Disney’s sitcoms, so I’m glad that they have a new one. I grew up with Disney channel, so I absolutely hope the best for them!

villains is a lot like thundermans generally with only the roles reversed. superpowered family goes into hiding in a new town. the show follows the eldest girl meanwhile the eldest brother has beliefs going against the rest of the family. then they have the chaotic younger sibling(s) and a cheery best friend to the main character who finds out the family secret early on. the family also has a secret villain lair hidden within the house that used as an escape from others in the household. the sibling dynamics are eldest brother vs eldest sister (in a mostly endearing way), while the youngest causes trouble. the role reversal is instead of superheroes in hiding, they're villains.

The mom having an English accent isn’t really crazy if she migrated to the US later in her life and the kids grew up in the US. My mother has a Russian accent when she speaks English, my father has an Arab accent when he speaks English but my siblings and I all have ‘American’ accents (we didn’t grow up in the states we just consumed a lot of western media)

I see why Disney Channel went the superhero route, they’re really popular (like Stranger Things or CW drama series). Disney was being cheap with all their sitcoms, they have to have a higher budget, make it darker, and have drama in their shows if they want the network to be successful again

i absolutely love Amy’s style and everyone looks like they truly just dressed themselves instead of having a costume designer

When I saw the first episode my automatic thoughts where “this is the thundermans but villains” and “the main characters is literally Alex Russo but actually a villain” Edit: oh I also was wondering if it was in the same universe of Mighty Med and Lab Rats Also Lucy Davis just uses her normal voice I think because she sounds exactly the same as Helga in The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina

i was kinda surprised, because usually disney tries to start their characters young, they cast kids, but both amy and jake's actors are adults, I was like interesting, haven't seen that on disney in a while

I instantly thought “This is just a role reversal of the Thundermans” when I first heard the concept, but now that I’ve heard that it was made by the Lab Rats creators, I might check it out. I love Lab Rats lol

I feel like a trope the show might fall into-which they could make work with good writing-is that a love interest introduced might be a hero or even rival villain, but neither knows the other’s secret? I love superhero stuff, so I’m just thinking of possible routes an overarching story and ship story could go. Many possibilities, very interested to see what could happen! I haven’t even watched the show yet (didn’t even know it existed until this video lol), but your review of it has me curious and I might just have to check it out!

One of the things that made Wizards of Waverly Place go from good to great is the ships (like you said), but also because it became darker and felt like a drama at some parts. I think this show needs that, it shouldn’t just be a goofy villain comedy. They should have Amy do something really bad and actually felt guilt for it, and wanna save the world like Alex did. I don’t want to sound like I want a copy of WOWP, but they handled Alex’s development so well and the show improved so much because of it. I think they could’ve waited a bit longer to tell the neighbor about their powers, maybe until the season 1 finale when they trust her more.

I had so many issues with ep 1. They didnt set up the peopel well enough before they got into it we were just supposed to care about them. Also the neighbor girl is so fine with being friends with ppl who supposedly murder ppl.

My first thought when I saw this was a Thundermans rip-off. But I have no clue why I love it. Also the shipping, cause I myself made a plot element on why I think Amy falling in love would be a good way to introduce Starling and all the superhero business I don't want this comment to be that long but this show comes on Disney+ on June 22nd so I'll be waiting for that. Literally, the first thing I thought of when I first watched the trailer was that the Villains of Valleyview was just like The Thumbermans. I watched the Thundermans when it first came out on Nickelodeon and I stuck by that show until the very last emotional episode but now that I finished this video I can’t believe I didn’t notice the comparison between this show and Wizards of Weverly Place. I watched that show too when it first came out on Disney channel and I didn’t miss an episode. So I can’t believe I didn’t notice that comparison. I mean come on the titles speak for themselves lol!

Suggestion for Colby’s shape shifting abilities in battle: him learning how to shape shift into a weapon like a knife or a functional laser gun for one of his family members to wield, a la the Meisters and Weapons in Soul Eater. He could also potentially shapeshifter into any tool that they need, like a wrench or a rope or handcuffs.

what i like about this show is only like two characters have morals, so a slight inconvenience reveals itself to amy and she’s like “maybe i can solve this by… murder!” and hartley and jake are just like “NOOOOO”

This show to me feels like the weird love child between Wizards of Waverly place and The Thundermans. It’s definitely one of the better inspo shows by Disney at the moment

Listen I’m glad this show exists solely for the fact of I want more content about supervillain families. Not like the kind where the father is abusive or the mother doesn’t care about the kids. But like a loving family that also does morally questionable things.

i mean yeah you pretty much hit it on the head. - my first thought was this is reversed thundermans, cuz they're villains, and in thundermans, phoebe is the perfect hero and max is an aspiring villain, and in here it's reversed exactly, may is the perfect villain and jake is the aspiring good person. the moms even have the same exact power lmao. - the comparison to wizards is also spot on, and the girl reminds us of alex because besides alex there is no main character in a disney show that's the 'bad influence' that role is always the best friend, so alex being the only one, and now may, of course we're gonna compare them. - I'm also excited to see where it goes from here, it has potential. I've moved on from the need for ships, but i'd be cool with either one you said (but I'll take the gays first lmao)

It’s literally a hybrid of thundermans and labrats I can’t see the wizards comparison at all because they are villains It’s very sweet and charming While there are similarities it does have its own style and charm

My favourite character in Valley View definitely is Jake! I just love his role and how he actually wanna be good

finally! i was waiting for someone to talk about this show! this feels like a direct copy of the thundermans so far. like other people have said a LOT of the family dynamic is extremely similar. even the mom has the same powers. however, obviously this show could grow into something new and different. the acting is pretty solid, especially for a disney channel show. i especially love amy's actress and can't wait to see what she'll do next. some of the characters, specifically hartley and colby, could be fleshed out, even in the first few episodes. i love hartley in the first episode but afterwards she has really conflicting morals and seems like she could be a lot more useful/voice of reason more often. i love the dynamics, i think some of them are even more interesting than the thundermans. i can't wait to see what this show develops into, it honestly might not be that bad and could be a new and original disney show.

I watched the first episode when it came out and I couldn’t get over how small the set looked. I felt like the characters filled up the living room set entirely. It just doesn’t feel proportional to the number of actors like other Disney show sets do. I don’t know if it was just me, but something felt off

I am officially obsessed with The Villains of Valley View after watching all of the episodes that came out so far!! Amy is seriously one of the coolest characters Disney has ever had. I love how Jake is trying to abandon his evil ways and become good. I appreciate how kind Hartley is and I love her friendship with Amy. The parents and Celia are so funny - ESPECIALLY Celia, my goodness, I laugh in almost every single scene she's in! I'm surprised as to how much this show made me laugh overall. This show is just super fun to watch and I think it's one of the best Disney shows airing right now. I love this show now, it's all the way in my top 8 favorite Disney shows of all time! I hope that Amy will one day come to accept Starling and not just so that Jake and Starling will get back together, but I also want Amy and Starling to stop being enemies and become friends. Everyone should go and watch The Villains of Valley View if they haven't seen it already. Also, since you mentioned these shows, I will say that I'm surprised you didn't like Gabby Duran and The Unsittables. As for right now, I like that show more than The Villains of Valley View. Season 2 is where the show gets so much better, so if you are interested in giving it another chance, then watch a season 2 episode! Since it's Halloween time, perhaps you should check out the season 2 Halloween episode called "Beware of the Fright Master". That episode is SOOO good. And as for Bunk'd, okay - While Gabby Duran and other Disney shows (like The Villains of Valley View) are still better than Bunk'd, the newer seasons of Bunk'd HAVE been improving, believe it or not. In my opinion, the show got BETTER once Lou became the main character (so basically season 4 and beyond). I think season 5 is the best season of the show. I feel like ever since Lou became the main character, the show has been trying to tell a decent story and be a better example for younger audience. Really, if you look at the episodes objectively, the quality of the newer seasons are not any worse than any other average Disney show. No, Bunk'd is still not the best thing Disney has ever made it and it still has some weak episodes from time to time, but for the most part, the newer seasons are better. I'd say you should watch a season 5 episode and give it a chance. Honestly, if the newer seasons were as bad as some people think, then why would it be getting a season 7? Lou is such a great main character, she is compassionate and hilarious. Also, the actress that plays her, Miranda, has written and directed some of the newer episodes and she's the executive producer of season 6! I think she's the reason the show is getting better and I'm really proud of her. Anyways thanks for making this video Caitlin! I only just now started watching this. It's hard not to see Celia as Mrs Dabney, they're the exact same character. Cool seeing the kid from Stuck in the Middle again, he's much better in this (then they took him out kinda???). Amy reminds me of a mix between Cece from Shake It Up and Alex from Wizards (her abusive dynamic with Hartley is like the same as Alex and Harper), but she has some very funny moments and is a good character. The dad is literally a carbon copy of the dad from lab rats but I guess that's to be expected. Would love to see you make another video now that the first season is done and it's already been renewed

the family with the kids remind me of Stargirl’s best villain family, Sportsmaster, Tigress and their daughter Artemis. it’s so great, they’re deadly assassin’s that love their daughter and the daughter is so freaking intense about her athlete career and they’re 100% behind her. when the coach benched her for the season for ‘being too aggressive’ they k-worded him with baseball bats (and he was the third coach it’s happened to) they escaped from jail just watch her play football. i love them.

Tbh I don’t know why they cancelled Sidney to the Max, stories felt so real and deep but it got canceled after 3 seasons, that’s incredibly sad for me. I kinda love and kinda don’t love The Villains of Valley View because, first I love it because it’s the same creators of Lab Rats and Mighty Med and the story seems interesting idk, but the other I didn’t love is the characters, Amy felt like Alex which I kinda love because I miss the funny shade that Alex always do in wizards of waverly place 😂 and also the characters felt like the opposite of the thundermans, I just wish they do something new and fresh instead of paste and copy but add a little glitter. I will still watch to see what happens in the future episodes to see if there will be a darker and dramatic side similar to Lab Rats season 1 finale with Marcus. I’m also shock this show ain’t on Disney XD, I wonder what happened?. Give the show a 7.1/10.

Me and my sister are currently watching this show on Netflix call No Good Nick. It kind of comes off as a currently airing Nickelodeon show but with some leeway. It's about a girl who's trying to scam a family out of money after posing as an orphan. The acting is very hit or miss at times, but they do handle some of the things they try to talk about well and it's entertaining. It's 2 parts with 10 episodes each. I'd love to see your thoughts on it if possible, if not that okay.

I think something interesting they could do with Amy’s character with a love interest is just have her uncomfortable with the feeling. She seems like the kind of character who focuses on anything but romance and because of that hasn’t felt so when she finally does she’d just be disgusted and uncomfortable. I think if done right it could be a very interesting way to go

Hi Caitlin! So what drew me to this show is that the actor who plays the dad played Valentine Cassidine, a villain character, in the soap opera General Hospital and I was curious about what he would be like in this show. This show is one of the few shows currently that I can watch without feeling the need to multi-task by playing games while watching it. I agree that it feels like Wizards and other shows from that time period, which is why I love it! This show reminds me of my childhood! Jake/Chaos is currently my favorite character. I love how despite his villainous upbringing he genuinely wants to become a better person! I can easily see him going from a villain to a hero over time! As for the comparisons to The Thundermans, the biggest issue that I see is that in both shows the mom has electricity powers. From what I can see both sets of powers are pretty much identical. And the premise of both shows are similar, but I like how in this show they are on the run both from heroes and other villains as it adds stakes to the show, unlike The Thundermans where there was no driving force connecting the episodes. I am hooked on this show and cannot wait to see how this show goes!

I've started the first episode and I've noticed a few similarities to The Thundermans. 1. It's about a new family that moves to a town, away from their old super life, and having to blend in and keep their powers a secret, when they use to be well known heroes/ villains. 2. The mom has the power of electricity on both.

I watched every episode of this show and i love it already

5:45 Beast Boy is a DC Teen Titans hero who commonly shapeshifts into a lot of different animals! We've mainly seen Colby turn into household objects because of him getting his power while they're on the run, he hasn't had any reason to shape shift into something that would help in battle. However we have seen him turn into a dog, so I easily imagine he could turn into a scary animal

This show reminds me more of mighty med and lab rats more than anything and I feel like it kinda ties together to mighty med cause it was left on a cliffhanger so did Lab rats elite force and the bad guy villain there on the run from could be Oliver's mom. The shape-shifting part makes me think of Roman and Riker from lab rats elite force

for me, with Jake and Hartley I think they would make a cute couple, and the dynamic of how Hartley is this good person and all-around ball of sunshine while Jake is an ex-villain who out of his family is trying to be a better person, so I ship it.

Something that the Thundermans and TheVilliansOfValleyVeiw have in common is that they both have a son odd out, in the Thundermans the oldest son Max wants to be a villain and in TheVilliansOfValleyVeiw, jake wants to be a hero. They both move away from where they originally lived to have a " normal " life. Also the moms have the some what same power, I think they both have lightning but there different colors

I feel like what they’ve done best over the years has be the animated shows gravity falls, star vs the forces of evil, the owl house, amphibia and big city greens the only live shows I have enjoyed after my time was liv and Maddie, Austin and Ally, and others from the end of those years and Andi Mack, stuck in the middle, Sydney to the max and ravens home

My favorite characters so far are the parents, who go all in on the goofy comedy and make it work. The actress playing the mom is, in fact, a Brit (she played Steve Trevor's secretary in "Wonder Woman"), so maybe they just liked her and told her she didn't need to use a fake American accent. Why shouldn't she be British? Supervillains are international!😎

Haven't watched a "kidcom" in awhile, but I gave this one a chance largely because I knew the parents from other projects (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and Gen Hospital; also, Steve Blum voices Onyx!) and the basic concept was one I hadn't seen before. I did enjoy WoWP back in the day, but didn't catch the similarities of the names (also, Harper=Hartley, yeah, this can't be coincidence!), but what this most reminds me of is a much-older show: The Addams Family, where the characters have a cheerfully inverted sense of morality to everyone around them! Things like seeing the family get excited and actually like their house MORE after learning of a murder that took place there never gets old for me...!

Amy and Hartley Alex and Harper one is a snarky sometimes rude unimpressed sassy person and the other is happy and fun and bubbly and kind of awkward

i like the shapeshifter power being seemingly limited to objects, the chainsaw thing reminded me of the anime Soul Eater where fighters pair with ppl that turn into weapons, (shipping potential? high). also could go the miraculous ladybug route where he turns into niche but useful items that save the day

I’ve been watching Disney Channel on Friday Nights and this is my favorite show of the current line followed by Raven’s Home, Ultra Violet & Black Scorpion and Bunk’d. I’m really enjoying The Villains Of Valley View, I was immediately hooked and I think Jake and Hartley are gonna become at thing because the promos for the show feature Jake and Hartley together a lot. Also u should give Season 5 of Raven’s Home another chance or at least watch 05x12: Truth or Hair.

I’m pretty sure they made villains of valley view for the same kids who watched the thundermans.

I enjoyed it. I already watched 3 episodes about to watch the 4th one. I also love their costumes. Even if some say it's kind of like the Thundermans, which I like I think when it comes to costumes this show they did it better.
