As someone with no nostalgia for the series, the battle presentation is pretty disappointing. I'm sure it calls back to the original, but I would have preferred to see the party do their attacks.

One neat feature I noticed is that the character sprites are holding their equipped weapons and shields during battle.

Honestly what I’m most excited about is experiencing this with the community who are as happy as I am that this gorgeous game is coming!! Just like last year with Star Ocean 2, people like yourself sharing your love for these games is just the best feeling when we all get to dive in to these vibrantly revitalized classics!!

Very nice graphics - I still don't understand why they're calling this "HD 2D" instead of "2.5D". On the other hand, I just played the Switch ports of the Erdrick trilogy a couple of years back, so I'd kinda prefer to save my money for other games like Visions of Mana and Zelda Echoes of Wisdom. Maybe if I can get a Steam sale price on this one, otherwise I'm more interested in seeing remakes/remasters of DQ 4 through 9.

Just replayed DQ IX which is one of my favorites (despite the hero and party having no character building) since it's a very grindy game and getting to try all the different vocations. Plus every piece of equipment changes the way your characters look since you gotta look good too! Already preordered DQ III, can't wait!

looks like you can now equip two weapons and swap mid battle.. and they both shows in the battle model. in the past we can just equip whatever during battle, so this maybe a speed thing

This is my most anticipated game of the year so I do have a lot of expectation from it, im curious to know what other new features have they added as well as if they've added in new location and how the story will be affected. In octopath traveller 2 I liked how you can steal off of NPC's I really hope they add this in the game

Started playing the DQ games recently. I and II were pretty basic and boring, but III blew me away completely. I played through it blind and the sense of adventure and discovery beats any NES and SNES JRPG I've ever played. Starting on IV now. If you haven't played any DQ games, I suggest you start now. Incredible series.

HD-2D mode should be added to Dragon Quest XI S. Maybe an Unreal Engine 5 version of 3D mode.

I guess something to note is recalling how some had hands-on from last month, but still I'm envious there and I want to get my hands on that game badly!! The only concern I have is wondering if that mini game form the SNES/GBC is still in the game, if it's gone it is a bummer for me but not a dealbreaker as I'm still too excited for this remake! Especially on wondering what bonuses 1&2 would have after 3

I know a german KZfaqr He Had the chance to play DQ3 so I think they have all ready finished localisation and waiting for the Release date. SquareEnix don't allow him to say anything but now He can Talk about and he liked it.

I first played the GBC version during my teen years. I've been hooked on the series ever since, but 3 will always hold a special place in my heart. Can't wait for this Remaster!

2:21 With the game saves they should have just replaced it with a modern save system with the allowance of many saves and auto saving slots at the top of the save file list. It is stupid that they only have a few saves.

while this is my most anticipated game of the year i am a little bummed they removed the ability to pick your sex. i liked the funny small quirky dialog changes that happened when you picked a female hero lol

I know I know, first person combat is what the majority of the series has/had... but for a remake, I just cant.

World wide releases are always like this to my knowledge. The Japanese players have always gotten games such as Dragon Quest first to act as final quality assurance testers outside the development teams as a check for anything going overseas. If a game somehow doesn't meet their standards they'll now update it and the intended western release of the game asap to ensure that it can sell somewhat to decent amount overseas, even if it's a known title like Dragon Quest that's generally seen as good. If they don't think it's going to work overseas they may put out an announcement cancelling said western release. Despite the age of download gaming now, you can't always trust your sales numbers for games even as notable as DQ.

I subbed more than a year ago but wish i could again just to support this solid RPG channel. Love the energy as always David keep it coming!

I cant wait. Already bought the game on Xbox via a digital copy and have a physical copy paid for on Switch as well. Both paid for the day it opened for pre-order. And im the first to tell folks NEVER pre-order a game lol. This one is different however and is safe to buy early.

Love the updated QOL saving and other features. One thing remakes/remasters should have is QOL features that have made gaming more enjoyable! Sounds like we're getting an orchestrated remake of the soundtrack like the amazing job done in the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster. Thanks for the continued updates David! Can't wait for this!

as for Jobs the Wizard/Black mages CAN equip Boomerangs but at level 10 they will do more damage with spells so give the Boomerang to the Hero or in my case the Gadabout/Thief class in the full game.

It's 70 euros where I live, that's 76 dollars, I don't know about that... Huge DQ fan, but for a price that high for a 2D remake I'll probably wait.

The one thing I'm not a fan of is having maps in dungeons. I 100% feel like dungeons should not have maps. Maybe I'm just oldschool, but part of the dungeon-crawling experience is feeling lost and trying to make your way through. If you can just pull up a map and see where to go immediately, that's going to ruin it a bit for me. If they made the map fill in gradually as you explore, that would be a different story, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Everything else though, is right up my alley and I'm unbelievably excited for this game!

Hard to remember a game I was this excited for. I guess the last would have to be DQ 11 and Hogwarts Legacy.

Before VII and VIII went all out into the confession theme (and other religious imagery) I did not like removing saving from the King. Of course I was much more into religious cheer by the time VII came out. What am I looking forward to? LIGHTNING! No, actually I can't decide. Is it dialing up the holy imagery to the max with an all-Priest party? Is it going super-fast with wizards? Is it taking a fine boyfriend with me to battle? And I love Masked Moths. They really stretch the brain out to force you to figure out how to win. Hey wait a minute. You didn't notice that Spiked Hare has more than 20 hit points. This is indeed more than just a remake.

Personality system? I half expected it to be renamed the gender system. Maybe that's what the localization will be.

DQXI let Zoom work indoors too. And I didn't play the 3DS remakes (nor DQX, since it's not available in English), so for all I know it's possible that hitting your head on the ceiling hasn't been a thing since the DS games.

The way David names the enemies and spells, I am assuming he has never played the remakes and only played the original NES version. I think this is a good preview. :)
