It's interesting how Zuko's uncle keeps trying to make him see there's more to life than the hunt for the avatar, or how he can do that but also enjoy the little things in life. Seeing Sokka try to flirt with Suki while Katara and Aang were just smirking from the sidelines was hilarious 😂 You're right, Magy, those two are definitely meant for each other. Proud of you for noticing the stark difference between Iroh and Zuko, how much Iroh tries to make him pace himself, have some patience. Avatar Kyoshi made quite the splashing entrance! It's beautiful how Aang managed to make the village people regain their hope, their reason to believe in themselves. Incredible reaction, thanks for sharing it with us ❤

if anything, yangchen is actually closer to what a lot of the fandom thinks kyoshi is. kyoshi kept her composure, but stood on business.

I was staring at Suki's mother the whole episode like "is that Kumiko from Karate Kid II?" Had to look it up and it is!! 35 years later!! So crazy. Can't wait until you start your Karate Kid/Cobra Kai journey. 😁

Yes! I hope we see more of Appa’s face is seasons 2 & 3. We saw plenty of his saddle, but not enough of him as a character IMO.

Magy, be sure to watch the animated series. It's different in tone from the netfltx adaptation, but you'll like it. Here they turned the animated series into a war drama. In the original, this is a story of growing up against the background of war. The animated series has humor, love, friendship, and serious moments. The characters are not perfect at the beginning, everyone has their own flaws, but they will change.

Glad to see it only took 2 episode to make you jump from non-fan to new fan ! Congratulation on the sudden promotion ! What's for the next episode ? Hardcore fan ^^ ? Also, when Suki revealed herself without her make up, your bi-bending power just fully awakened ^^. Don't worry. If we get a season 2 and 3, you'll see her again (and she's badass !). If you want her actress' name, it's Maria Zhang, and she's actually from Poland (Chinese-Polish mixed parentage). She's done a few theatrical shows but this series is apparently her first major TV series role. And she crushed it ! I'm looking forward to see what other shows she will show up in later on. All in all, coming from an old fan of the OG animation series who also happens to be a professional animator for over 15 years (and I was still an animation student when the series came out 20 years ago, and this animated series is one of my favorite cartoons of all times), I see there are a lot of opinions and reviews flying all over the place, ranging from terrible to meh, to great. And I would say it does an overall okay job at adapting the source material. With some great additions (like the Kiyoshi moment in this episode, that moment happened in the animation, but in a later episode, and with another previous Avatar incarnation), but also some very head-scratching omissions or mixed bags episodes (where they crammed almost 10 episodes worth of stories into one). But of course, new fans like you have no idea about it, and I'm very curious to see how you're gonna react to the rest of the series. And if it makes you an actual fan of the whole franchise, that will give you a treasure trove of animated series to react to for your channel. Looking forward to the rest of your reactions about the series.

Ngl if you have watched shows for a superrr long time you can kinda predict stuff. Watching anime and shows are hard for me cause I can just predict stuff cause ngl it’s sooo easy. Like attack on titan, bleach, fairy tail, naruto, romance animes, isekai exc. I can easily predict certain things in how it will all turn out. 💀💀it sucks honestly cause I wanna watch it but my brain always puts pieces together

But plot twists are a bit harder for me. Though I was able to get some of them ngl. I’m not some genius but boy is deaths easy I’m sorry but my boy jiraiya death was easy, neji as well. Ace dying and kiku’s was easy for me as well. Kurozumi Kanjuro betrayal was easy but the plot twist with big mom helping tama wasn’t ngl didn’t think she’d help tama but I loved that twist. I guessed who would survive from jjjk was decent on that. (Didn’t think almost everyone would go but I did get Nanamis death and obviously the grandpa. Predicting fairy tail is soo easy for me and for everyone like cmon. I know no one will die and I know who will win, though I thought Lucy would win that game so it was a plot twist to me her loss sadly. And we all know about romance animes we all can predict those and who the second male lead is. It’s not hard. I’m also pretty good at telling who’s the bad guy as most people can as well. It’s really not that hard. Exc So no I’m not some genius but Iv been around animes while and shows so it’s not hard for me to

Ngl I never thought about his (he isn’t my favorite character but Wendy is) But when I first saw Natsu not be able to get out of the game laxus did I was a but confused and thought maybe he kept Natsu in. But when gajeel couldn’t get out, it did get me thinking maybe it had something to do with dragon slayers and left it at that. But then it got revealed it hat soemthing to involve Lucy’s mum and Natsu is you know who’s brother it got me thinking. (Well natsu’s brother has lives for a long time so I thought maybe Natsu died or sum and he got revived by zeref cause zeref is a powerful wizard and that’s why it didn’t let Natsu go through cause it registered Natsu as dead maybe but that didn’t make sense cause gajeel was affected too so I was lost again) But back to Lucy mum with gate keys and during the arc with the dragons I saw them go through the portal exc and I was like “well maybe but that’s not possible???” Cause who couldn’t like bring them there and I kinda though if you go into a different time then you show you aged so I thought that wasn’t it. So honestly I Kidna just figured it related to dragonslayers and left it at that. But when the whole thing got revealed it all made sense and it was very pleasing to me

Unfortunately, the film adaptation of this wonderful work was not a success! The writers clearly failed to convey the message of the original work! They had the opportunity but they ruined everything because they wanted to add something of their own and failed because they are new to this business!

Success or not depends on the measure. I also think that the live-action series has considerable flaws, while doing really well in other aspects, but not because of some specific message that might or might not be there. We knew that they intended to present the story in a different light. The problem IMHO lies mostly in trying to include too many story arcs from the original in too little time, sacrificing character development for action. They should have done it in at least ten episodes or made a lot more changes (which of course would have angered fans). This second episode is probably my favorite because it actually has good pacing (plus Kyoshi 😁).

The problem with adapting pre-existing media into another medium for a different target audience is that you'll automatically lose fans of the original who want it left untouched. Things inevitably get lost in translation going from 2D animation to live action just because of the limitations of the real world.
