Spiffing! Absolutely Spiffing!!! Well done to the Association Corps of Drums! Hey, I recognise one of the Drummers! Well done to that particular Drummer! Great selection of marches! As E. Chambers has commented they added much heft to the whole overall sound to this wonderful parade!

The association added considerable heft to the sound of the Grenadiers' Corps of Drums during the Black Sunday parade and I expect both groups enjoyed the effect. Hard to ignore the cheerful sound of a good flute band.

OK, I know I Grump about the Corps of Drums Bands, but if they all sounded this Good I wouldn't have a Complaint at all. To be honest it's the Boring March List ("Hazelmere" & "Galanthia" & maybe 1 More") & at the Risk of being Stood against a Wall & Shot, they seem Lacklustre, as if they're just Going through the Motions, there's no Spark there. I remember last Years Grenadier Guards Black Sunday & the Difference of Having the Association Corps of Drums as well as The Grenadier Guards Corps of Drums made, was Absolutely Fantastic! The Life, Emotions & Pride Factor that was on Display Put that Spark in there & bought the Whole Corps of Drums Performance to Life, I even found myself wanting The Band of the Grenadier Guards to hurry up & Finish, so I could Listen to the Corps of Drums again AND tap my foot in time to the Music! Unheard of for me. They say there's no Substitute for Experience & in this Case it's undeniably True. Although to be fair we just don't see The Grenadier Guards Corps of Drums very much, if at all. I believe the Last time was the Trooping the Colour, where the Welsh, Coldstream & Grenadier Corps of Drums, all played together enmasse as part of the Massed Bands & took their turn at playing a March all the way down the Mall, that was Awesome. This Performance by the Association's Corp of Drums, is engaging & enjoyable & the Talent of the Musicians is Clear. Which Beggars the Question, "Why Don't the Corps of Drums through out the British Army Sound this Alive & this Good"? Great Job Mr B! A Great Video of a Great Performance, Thank You!

@@yorkshirecorpsofdrums1365 Hi! Thank you for these Links. I really don't know why there is such a Difference between the Welsh Guards Corp of Drums & the Association People. Maybe it's because one Group gets Paid to do it & the other do it out of their love for playing their Instruments & that feeling that comes with sharing it with liked minded people. There's no obvious reason, they have the Ability to turn out the Great music the Corporation Corps of Drums do at the Black Sunday Parades, they just don't do it. Mind you I think Boring the Pants off People by only playing Galanthia & Hazelmere doesn't endear them to Spectators. I mean just look at the Difference between "Galanthia" played by YCOD at the Scarborough Armed Services Day & what we get from the Welsh Guards Corps of Drums Version. I don't mean to pick on them, but it's the only Corps of Drums we see. The YCOD Version is Great, full of Life & I for one would be happy to sit on the Grass on a Summers Afternoon, with a Picnic & listen to them for an Hour or Longer. Superb! @@vickyRoyalHistory Thanks for the nice comments. We are probably around 90% ex drummers from all different Regiments. We have many other like minded members who never served. We play as a hobby, mix with like minded people, meeting about every 4 weeks or so. Sad really, as young people today have no interest in traditional flute and drum music. I’m sure you’re aware we are not musicians and mostly come from backgrounds where we would have had no exposure to instruments. The simple answer why Army Corps of Drums are so weak, they don’t practice! The argument being they are so busy, we were busy when I served in and out of Ireland every 18 months. I picked up my flute continuously, took it on tours and exercises. We as a Corps went no where without our drums and flutes even in Afghanistan drums and flutes were packed. We will be playing at the national Memorial Arboretum on the 7th July. Sadly it’s boring generic marches, Banner of hope, Galanthia, children’s love as it’s a combined corps. Quick march!!!!!!.......Love it. Fife and drums. Guess it would be the original marching band music? Recognised only "colonel bogey" unfortunately. Loved their last tune and his solo. Almost historical folky in essence.
