NEW HOME TIPS: ALL THINGS CURTAINS | Styles | Common Mistakes & Fixes | Hanging My Own Curtains

New home, time to decorate! Curtains were something I knew I wanted but WOW are there a lot of choices and so many things to consider. I had curtains before in our previous home but there were a lot of mistakes made there that I couldn't quite put my finger on at the time, I just knew the looked... off.
Here we take a look at some of the main styles of curtains, some of the common mistakes made when hanging them (I've done so many of these in the past!) and finally, the measurements I did for my own home.

For hanging curtains, I highly recommend using a laser level to ensure that you have a level line for hanging the rods. These can be pretty cheap, and save you a ton of time and hassle.

I’ve thought of getting one so many times and have had one in my Amazon cart forever! That would’ve been so helpful, I really need to commit to that for some future projects

It's so funny how I never really knew about other types of blinds/shades growing up. We always had standard blinds and the roller shades and roman shades are just so beautiful

This may seem strange but when I was growing up we never had blinds in our house my mother had Shade the white rolling shades you pulled down and every window in our house with a sheer curtain in front of them and today all these different shades and blinds they have out I am so ready to put my own stamp on my own home but there’s one thing that I like that my husband don’t like is shuttles I want them in my owner suite that’s the only room I want them in there is four windows in their and I want shutters on them does that sound strange is it strange that someone want the it in just one room

@@reba4327 I don't think that sounds strange at all! We're going to end up having some different varieties throughout the house, mostly roller shades but I do want some roman shades. Having something different and special in your bedroom sounds wonderful!
