I miss the old bulkheads. I love the mood lighting too. I enjoy the Alaska planes that do have the foot rests.

I recently took an Alaska 737-800. I originally hoped I'd get this interior but I happened to be on one of the newer ones with the full sky interior. Was a real surprise given how rare sky-interior -800s are in Alaska's fleet. As a bonus it was also in a special livery: "Pixar Pier"!

I envy you that you have so much fun of flying. I am fascinated by aviation but I'm afraid of flying and fly only when I have to and it's absolutely necessary otherwise I tend to avoid it.

I am SO HAPPY you posted this as I am about to fly on this plane. I am a huge fan of your videos, especially your ALASKA videos. I was wondering what ALASKA was going to do after retiring the Airbus A321's. Thanks for the great videos and I hope you continue to post your ALASKA flights. It's worth noting that Alaska's lounge policy has since changed since this video was made. It's now open to only Alaska lounge members and those with an itinerary covering 2,100 miles. No more first classes passengers are being let in.

The first pictures I saw of the retrofit made it look like Alaska was moving towards American's horribly drab interior, but it is nice to see it in action and it is not as bad as American.

I am disappointed that they didn't replace the FC seats with the new Recaro ones, but I do like the look of the retrofit. Is the padding improved with the new upholstery? While I like the old bulkhead with sculptured carpet, it's looking pretty tattered, so I'm OK with the new look. I agree that AlaskaAir's real strength is it's cabin crew. Very few disappointing crew members on AlaskaAir's team.

While I appreciate Alaska is updating its interiors, I like the original bulkhead design as it’s brand signature.

Sadly, another airline that doesn't have a bulkhead between first and economy (not that Alaska ever did).

AS has a mileage requirement for the lounge? Well, that's disappointing, but its why I watch these types of vids, need that info before I travel. Got a trip booked, SEA-SAN, but upon further review, its only 1050 miles.

I cant imagine being in one of these aircraft on a long flight, for example, from the east coast to west coast which usually takes over 4 hours. No screens and horrible looking seats! How do people do it??

Alaska has always been very special to me so it is disappointing on their retrofitting by removing the old front of the cabin and replacing it with something very bland and away from the Alaska theme. The new seats are just going to show wear/dirt faster so I am not sure of their purpose. The mood lighting is fine and the food looked good just not enough of it. All things change but it seems their changing without much thought to keeping Alaska's spirit.

Just a guess, but perhaps these 737-800's are near to retirement as the MAX's come in. Perhaps AS didn't want to spend the money on a full retrofit if the life of the current 800's are not long.

Was disappointing to learn that this retrofit is getting cancelled - but also not surprising, given low seat quality and lack of a third bathroom in the aft cabin.

I preferred the MD-80 or whatever. With the engines mounted 100+ feet behind, 1st class was really like a magic carpet ride. The food choices in Alaska lounges currently are quite poor. They have the same tired, cold, chicken for weeks on end. Nothing hot except coffee. Marginal.

So sad the lounge is only accessible for paid first class on flights longer than 2100 miles now. Were there really that many paying first class passengers that they had to institute that policy? I doubt it.
