I've been in the Apple ecosystem for almost 10 years and held off upgrading my laptop because I wanted to look for one I would be satisfied with. Needless to say, I'm now typing this on my Lenovo Yoga Slim Pro 7 with AMD Ryzen 9 4900H and I have absolutely no regrets on my purchase. It's just amazing!

Received my 4900h version this week(living in Singapore) and so far it's a fantastic laptop. There are 2 screen variations. I got the 2.4k 300nits which is mat, great option for outdoor.

The yoga line is used for their 2-in-1 device which can be folded into a tablet. The yoga SLIM line doesn’t have that folding capability and acts like a traditional laptop. It’s a little confusing but the slim line is a clamshell traditional laptop. I know everyone is confused by the naming scheme but this help clear the confusion.

Just got mine upgrading from my trustworthy E550 (~ 5+ years of good service and still running tho quite outdated now with the screenres). Was between waiting for the new Mac Book Pro 14" or the T14 Gen2 with AMD due to the milspecs..Tho the Yoga seems quite solid too & the performance

Nice teaser Andrew. Would be nice to be able to see this benchmarked against the Ryzen 4800H. The latter was already a winner in my eyes but have been holding out for updated processors. Relative Battery endurance on single charge, heat dissipation/management without throttling and good graphics performance are top 3 criteria on my wants list.

hi Andrew, I am using the same model notebook as yours except mine comes with a 4800H CPU (it was released in China in Nov 2020), essentially the screen in mine should be exactly the same as yours. I wonder if the screen in yours supports HDR streaming in Windows e.g. playing back HDR KZfaq videos in Chrome or MS Edge? Mine does NOT support HDR no matter what settings I try in Windows, a bit disappointed since it has enough nits (400) and support Dolby Vision. Thanks

How's the quality control of the latest YS7P? I heard people constantly complaining about problems with the hinge (not center-alligned), blacklight bleeding, chassis not properly assembled, etc., in the 4800H model.

Hope Lenovo brings this to USA this time, probably with IdeaPad Slim 7 nomenclature. In other markets, it iwas available last year also, with 4000u series processors, with same display and ram configuration.

I just picked up the Ryzen 9 5900hx version of this laptop in Thailand. Happy with it so far. Runs almost cool as my Mac Air M1. Only wish AMD laptops had Thunderbolt/USB 4 and this one's memory was upgradable.

This is really the dream laptop that checks all boxes. However, availability is gonna be so.. so scarce. Just looking at earlier Pro 4000H announcements from Psref, it's gonna take a while for 5000H to hit the shelves for sure. Leaked roadmap from Wepc say 6000-series gonna be announced in 2022. Only way to access Asian market is through Chinese agents like Taobao. You're probably the only channel with this laptop of 5000H - looking forward to see the first look!

By the way the scandinavian retailer called proshop is now selling Lenovo Yoga slim 7 pro 5800H/5600H and their estimate to receive in stock is 16th June. So your sources claim was pretty accurate. Proshop also sells Ideapad 5 Pro 16 inch 5600H/5800H around the same date as slim 7 pro. So there are a lot of great ryzen laptops coming this year which is a huge improvement from last year. That year, slim 7 pro 4000 series was only available in Asia. Im glad this has been changed.

Looks interesting. Not for me, though: my next laptop should have (i) LTE or 5G, (ii) preferably 32GB RAM (or more). As a touch typist, the shallow key travel doesn't sound perfect. I expect battery life to be ok. What about pen/touch sensitive screen (since it is a Yoga style...).

Dang no usb c on the right side as well for charing on either side......thats tough. I like the 2k screen. I'm used to a 4k display as for as window size but I size it down to about 2k because 4k is just too much. So this might make me interested. Because screens like this are sparse.

Do wish it was a matte display with 500nits..but now I'm getting "nit picky". It will be interesting to see the batt life and the thermal characteristics. Cheers.

it makes absolutely no sense to me anymore why EVERY computer manufacture has the worst webcams for these new computers . Its not even like an add on feature anymore its super important to almost everyone. The very cheapest smart phone manufacturers are able to put in low quality cams in every handset. Its just inexcusable and disrespectful at this point. rant over hahah great review I'm using the c-940 and think its great, other than the web cam. I'm interested in these AMD units!

We didn’t t launch the 2020 version in Europe as we were waiting for Ryzen 5000. Now we have it we are Shipping end Feb across Europe. Time to blow the doors off.

No mention of discrete graphics (or not) as well as touch screen or not. I presume being Yoga series, it is touch. Discrete graphics is important for video NLE productions. I hardly play any games, so that's a non-issue.

Nice PC. The camera and microphone are okay and are comparable to most other laptops with a 720P camera. The display is very good. 90Hz refresh rate is a plus. Would be nice if this included a micro SD at least. Since there are no Thunderbolt ports an HDMI port would be nice. Until we see the actual run specs in your upcoming detail review I would not get too excited with this at this point. Still this is a great "First Looks" review.
