Nightmare on elm street reboot or new movie has been in the works since the Wes Craven family estate gained the rights back to Freddy Krueger. Now we finally have an update to what is going on. Studios like Blumhouse and more are trying to get the rights. I breakdown all the information what is true and what is questionable.

I hope they do something different. Especially with the last remake, which had interesting twist in the story. And that is what if FREDDY was wrongfully accused and killed. And the reason he is killing the elm street kids is because freddy was innocent. Idk though, I think that would be a interesting new take on nightmare on elm street.

I’m so excited to see when we fully see Freddy return to the big screen. It was my favorite franchise when I was younger before scream which was my 2nd fav at the time. They can do sm with Freddy and dreams which is exciting. Freddy to be such an icon to be the first horror icon to have his own show and a music video. I just wonder what they can do that the movies didn’t tackle from the deaths/dream sequences/methods to beat Freddy.

i don't feel that blumhouse would be a great fit for nightmare. Just my opinion. I would really like a team that would keep the Freddy campy as he was with a mix of good slasher scares. it would be modernized as thats unavoidable but the essence of the character without changing the dark humor and gore would be amazing.

Really.. I know it's been a while since there hasn't been a Freddy movie for 13 years now. But Freddy had plenty of movies already A Nightmare On Elm Street had 5 sequels, a tv show, a standalone movie, crossover and a remake. So I think Freddy has had a pretty good runtime on his popularity. Also I wouldn't trust Blumhouse for making a Freddy Movie after what they have done to the Halloween Franchise.

They should definitely consider creating a prequel for the Freddie Krueger franchise, delving into the first children he victimized, who would later become the older siblings of iconic characters in the original series. It would be a great opportunity to explore the supernatural aspects of his origin and the dark magic that played a role in his transformation into the infamous character we know. We need a horror tv show. Like x files, American Gothic.

The formula is right there, they just ignored it in 2010! 1) Make Freddy a murderer and menacing, but NOT a pedo. That turns the story into other directions that most don't want to think about. 2) keep Freddy darkly humorous 3) NO second or third killers! It ain't Scream. Freddy is his own thing 4) leave the old cast out of it! It's no longer fan service to these drag poor elderly greats into a studio for a day they'll just tire through. 5) make the dream world practical and cheap! The old movies were produced on spare change and for less than $20 million they could make one hell of a movie these days. They just need a director like Craven was back in the day; known but starving. Ti West would be perfect, in my opinion.

I would say the best case scenario is we get one last nightmare film. Three hours, ties up all the loose ends and gives the characters a better sendoff. Just let the franchise end with a film that combines the best bits of the whole franchise whilst still doing something new.

I've been waiting for so long. Freddy has always been my favorite slasher. He was the first really unique slasher with almost a fantasy element. So cool. Besides the remake, I mostly love every Nightmare film in some aspect! There's a fan film being made that is acting as a sequel to Craven's New Nightmare called Dylan's New Nightmare. It even has the original Dylan actor! The same kid! Everyone should check it out.

If they do a requel, they way it should be done is an older freddy who has lost his power to a lack of k*lling and has just become a ghost story kinda like Michael myers. Eventually freddy will then start picking off younger children who are related to previous survivors and then going on to harder targets as he regains his previous powers

I personally don’t want them to go the requel route like Halloween 2018 and Texas Chainsaw Netflix. You can do something different and crazy that goes all out with the films lore without the need to reference the original bring back the original actors. REIMAGINE AND START FRESH

Don't get me wrong I love the Nightmare movies, I didn't even mind that reboot from 2010, as I thought it wasn't as bad as everyone made it out to be I just hope Blumhouse takes it in the right direction and makes a Nightmare movie worth watching as Halloween kills, and Ends were not interesting or fun films to watch. similarly to The new Exorcist movie, on how that movie just looks a bit bland and unappealing, I hope Blumhouse doesn't throw this movie, in the toilet.

The only thing that worries me is the cgi thing…..I feel like they just need to start fresh & get a new actor that has good movement & understands the role cause Jackie earle haley did a good job just had a bad script so it’s not impossible to find a new actor to play Freddy.. the script just has to be right… & as long as they make Freddy look right & not like a squirrel again & stick to the basics & not try to overdue things like don’t change Freddy’s claw

Here’s my movie pitch for the new Nightmare On Elm Street film We open exactly as we did with the film in 1984. A burned hand reaches for a cloth bag of knives. Only this time the hand is more burned, beaten, and weathered--you can see the bones move. Freddy constructs his claw almost exactly as he did in the first film, but this glove is made of nothing but steel, copper, and titanium. After the glove is completed, Freddy lays his right hand (even more decomposed than his left) and cleaves the hand off. A nod to the beginning of "New Nightmare." Freddy then affixes the new claw to his limb and flexes. Instead of cutting to the title screen, we descend down into the boiler room as two teenagers, fraternal twins, are navigating the maze that is Freddy's lair. The boiler room looks very similar to the original film but as you descend it becomes more corrupt, vile, and evil. The brother and sister are separated and killed by Freddy with his new glove. As the glove swings toward camera, we cut to screams as the title comes on the screen: A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET We open on a top shot of a Volvo xc90 vehicle driving through a rural area. We pan down to find Valorie, 34 years old, driving the car with her daughter Abigail, 15 years old, sitting in the passenger seat. Abigail is your typical teenager, edgy and hating anything in the world. She asks her mother why they need to pick up her grandmother, because she finds her creepy. Valorie tells Abigail that the offer is out of politeness. They pass the old Thompson house, instead of it looking like it did in the later sequels it looks pristine; it is also for sale yet again. Abigail asks Valorie why they can't find someone to keep the house for more than seven years. Valorie simply shrugs and they drive on. Past a burial ground where the two victims of the opening are being laid to rest. Surrounding their parents are their family and friends. We meet our teenage characters in this scene: Greg (drug addict), Jade (introvert), Darius(extrovert), and Samantha(social media addict). They have interractions after the ceremony concludes that show their weaknesses and strengths. Note that I am summing this up as much as I can. Otherwise we'd be here all damn day. LOL Valorie and Abigail arrive at one of the nicest houses in Springwood. Inside is the matriarch of the family: Nancy Thompson (yes, Heather Langenkamp). She welcomes them with open arms and is sad at Abigails indifference. Abigail pushes off Nancy's hug and calls her a "insane, pillhead, old bitch." Nancy almost in tears decides to leave, telling her daughter and granddaughter to make themselves at home. After Nancy drives off, Valorie looks at her daughter and asks why she would be so rude. And then Abigail says mom "do you really believe the idea that a person can kill you in your dreams?" then Valorie sigh and says it’s just her imagination. Nancy drives to the Katja Clinic for Sleep Disorders, from the first film. The clinic works in close proximity with Westin Hills. There she meets Dr. King(the dream clinic doctor from the original), who is her boss. Through their exchange we discover that both are using their access to prescriptions to abuse Hypnocil, the dream suppressant drug. Nancy then asks about John Doe, a patient who has been comatose in their facility for almost a decade. King sighs, and says that he is failing and wasting away. Throughout the film, we discover through Nancy and King's deductions that Freddy is controlled by a power greater than himself. Otherwise he would kill nonstop. Freddy can only take 6 souls at a time, and it can only happen every 6-7 years. The reason is that Freddy is truly afraid of: The Dream Vortex. A very powerful force that controls the sleeping person. But Freddy is growing stronger and stronger as the fear of him grows and grows. Abigail has several nightmares of Freddy, where he almost kills her. She tries to explain this to her mother, only to get told the classic response: "Just get some rest." It is also discovered that Freddy can touch your brain if you dream about him. But if Freddy is stuck in a geographical location, he can go no further. As this is going on, Freddy is laying waste to our teenage characters, preying on all their fears. He makes the addict OD, makes the introvert popular, makes the extrovert a bullied nerd, and shows off his chops with the girl Samantha who’s addicted to social media and here comes the line that will either make you laugh or groan. As Freddy is ready to kill her, he whispers in a creepy voice , "Time to go viral Samantha while laughing Nancy decides that it is all her fault, because of the pattern of the deaths that happened over the last 40 years--don't ask, it's complex. So she decides to kill herself. Then Abigail finds her grandmother about to kill herself and saves her. Nancy cries on Abigail shoulder, and Abigail tells Nancy to not take her pills, and see what Abigail is seeing when she goes to sleep. Nancy does, they fall asleep, and Nancy and Freddy finally reunite. They battle to the edge of The Dream Vortex. Freddy hums happy pills by the Weathers and starts sprinting while Nancy almost transcedent because she sees her friends, mother, in the colorful swirl. Nancy and Abigail awaken to find Valorie glaring at them. Because of the power in the dreams, both women touch Valorie and she finally sees it all (huge flashback to previous dream sequences from this film and the original) and after they discuss their options in a roundtable talk where they really don't have any options, they all fall asleep and decide to fight Freddy. Before they show up, Freddy releases the coma patient (who has been stuck in a permanent nightmare for ten years) and he awakens in the real world. Nancy, Valorie , and Abigail fight Freddy to the death in the dream world. In the end they get Freddy next to The Dream Vortex. From the mist rise Rod, Tina, and Glen from the first film. They pull Freddy into the pit as he screams and fights. Rod yells, "I couldn't see you. Do you see me now you sick mother fucker?" Freddy is pulled into The Dream Vortex, Nancy and Valorie then looks back towards the pit as they walk away. Glen is there and he winks at Nancy; she blows him a kiss. Abigail is still standing by the edge of The Dream Vortex, looking at Freddy's fedora. She spits on it and kicks it into the pit, saying "Sweet dreams, Krueger." Fade to black, until the whine of hospital machinery begins with a single cardiographic blip... on the tv in the hospital there is a female reporter that got word out a man named Bill Savage killed his family in his home on elm street covered in blood and was obsessed with dark magic books yelling in panic saying he can open door ways to different dimensions and that Freddy is coming for us all, The screen zooms in on a blurry face and John Doe is awake with fear on his face. If you are a huge fan of the Nightmare film series, I think you know who he is. A very attractive blonde woman comes and strokes her son's head and says, "Let's get out of here, Jacob." You don't see her, but if you are a fan of the series you know damn well who she is. They are driving out of Springwood (which would unleash Freddy on the world we cut to a scene of Bill getting strapped to the electric chair laughing and humming the opening nightmare on elm street song then all of sudden a beam of yellow lightning strikes through the roof striking him as he vanishes, then we cut back to Jacob as he sees the jumprope girls by the town limits Singing one two Freddie’s coming for you.

I'd do anything to see Blumhouse work on a Nightmare on Elm Street movie. I feel like Blumhouse's style in terms of atmosphere would be perfect for a Freddy Krueger movie. EDIT: I think Cody Leach had a great idea for a "requel" for the franchise that instead of making it a direct sequel to the first one, he would make it a direct sequel to Dream Warriors. I'm on the same boat, because Dream Warriors is regarded as the best of the franchise, and I think me personally, that would be a smart move for both Blumhouse and the fans of the Elm Street movies.

The idea I’ve had for years now would be another sequel, keeping the continuity. A Nightmare on Elm Street: Dream World. It would even open the doors for a Friday the 13th sequel. A girl is running down a hall trying to open various doors. At the end is a big steel door (like you would see on a ship), water seeping out. Freddy says You open that door and we’re all fu@#ed! She picks up an old machete leaning in the corner. Freddy raises his glove and his knives are now machetes. Once Freddy is defeated and the Dream World is destroyed (with the help of some spirits of past movie victims) there’s an end credit scene. The camera is going along a dock at dusk. When it gets to the end of the dock it holds on the water. Then a couple bubbles float to the surface. Cut to black. Implying the ending of FvJ was a dream Freddy put Jason in to keep him subdued this whole time.
