I don't understand why you would put these up against the "Tesla Model Y and Ford Mach E" and not also mention the Hyundai Ionic 5 and Kia EV6 given the Ionic and EV6 are some of the most competitive in the segment? Not a bad effort from Nissan, but I'd go Kia EV6 first, Ionic 5 second, Ford Mach E/Tesla tied for third... but hey...all great vehicles

It was on my short list but for many of the reasons mentioned here I went with the Model Y. But if it can squeeze out close to 350 miles EPA then it will be another decent choice in the EV space. Because as it stands...only being able to charge to 80-90% as well as driving conditions and the car's BMS you're not going to get the advertised range. But with an ever expanding charging network, Tesla getting closer and closer to opening up theirs to everyone as well as charging at home, work etc. I'd say getting over 300 miles is still a good option with no real fear of range anxiety.

Two little niggles in this otherwise excellent report... First you said it was rear wheel drive in the single engine, then you said front wheel drive towards the end of the video. I'm hoping it's rwd but, and here's my second niggle... when you said you were going to show us the storage I was pleased, but then you didn't show us inside the boot, I'd love to have seen that clever arrangement you mentioned. (Did they not want you to show a less than finished article, maybe?) Going back to the rwd/fwd debate, I'm guessing it's the latter if there's more boot space on the two wheel drive model? Perhaps you could confirm, it'll be a shame, with all that torque I'd like the power going to the rear wheels... 🤔
@Phillandben
@Phillandben 2 жыл бұрын
So in th opening “recap” you say it’s available in 2 versions. Rear wheel drive and all wheel drive. Then later on you say that if you go for the all wheel drive version then you get less underfloor storage in the boot due to the electric motor. Surely if it’s rear wheel drive or all wheel drive then there is ALWAYS going to be a motor at the back?

Something in the 40k to 60k mark would be nice....Ev market right now feels like either you get a low end Chevy Spark or Nissan Leaf or a freaking Model X. Need more middle grounds for us that don't want a low end vehicle but don't want to shed out for a top trim model or brand

Nope, I bought the Y frimarily because it had the hatchback compared to the model 3's saloon boot. Note while the Ariya has underfloor storage this _isn't_ suitable for charging cables because its underfloor storage - that means if you need to charge on a long journey (say a family holiday, not an unreasonable expectation with a car aimed as a family car) you have to take a bunch of luggage out of the boot to be able to get to the underfloor compartment. This is something that tends to get missed on just about any electric car review - they say something like extra storage in the boot is great for the charging cables. In reality you'd want them in a smaller compartment you can access without having to remove other luggage - the frunk that is present on a model y or mach e but not the ariya

For this price tag, Nissan might as well have this model as one of an Infiniti. This car is definitely NOT on my shortlist. I'm going take a hard pass unless I know this SUV have dual zone climate control, proper full leather seats, 360 camera and an independent rear suspension. A long range from the battery is a plus.

Range on EVs its still a massive issue The Range figures are somewhat completely irrelevant because having the heater or Motorway driving in the previous Leaf you would loose 2.2 Miles per every 1 mile Travelled specially in Cold . Than some people were running out for being 40 to 60 miles Range less the GOM predicted 🤷🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♂️
