So Jaiden's loss was actually like...laden with with crazy crits, just like the rest of her run. She really was going to leave things off with her loss, but the chat was urging her to try again, due to the insane bad luck and the fact that it was also her birthday. So ultimately, she left it to a poll and an overwhelming amount of people voted for her to try again. She said she would but that she wasn't going to disregard the bad ending either, and was gonna have her animation reflect it too. And yeah, it was such a cool way to show that, but I feel like you do u.u No reason to get so down on yourself, you know? It was all just on the RNG, and Jaiden even made the exact same moves her second time around too.

watching this live was an amazing experience, especially when Flakes outsped Cynthia's Garchomp, the chat went absolutely ballistic with cheers and the rest of the fight was a fever dream. the whole nuzlocke was incredible, and Jaiden worked her E4 loss into the final video perfectly

Ya know, she actually had a good combo with sqoop and milk that she never took advantage of, sqoop could set up rain dance and all of milk's thunders would have been guaranteed hits.

On top of the EV training Jaiden did with Flakes, I think I remember from the VODs that his nature also boosted his speed. Hasty, if I remember correctly.

Also Ela dupes clause only work when you've caught the pokemon. So technically after Jaiden caught Failure, if she were to encounter another member of the Shinx line (Shinx, Luxio or Luxray), that would be dupes, but the first one doesn't count.

Yeah, that Staraptor with Reckless is pretty scary, since it boosts the damage of all recoil moves. So that's 120 base power (180 with stab) with the damage boost from reckless, plus crit doubling the damage. I've had it oneshot a Bronzong before.

The problem with Thunder on Jolteon is that until she got the TM for Thunderbolt, she didn't have much choice - Jolteon learns Thundershock and Thunder, but _not_ Thunderbolt, oddly.

I was really impressed by your game knowledge! You pick up on little details like specific movesets that most people don't, that was cool to see. I only ever use thunder in rain or with Galvantula (favorite pokemon btw because of a BW nuzlocke where it swept half the E4 and got me through a majority of N and ghetsis after losing most of my team), otherwise looking at DPS calcs Thunderbolt is always better.

To explain the Kirlia death at 8:14, it was what we call the "Pursuit trap" strategy. When a Pokémon uses Pursuit on a Pokémon being switched out, it's double the damage.

Hold on- If I may be voice of reason, The Species Clause is used, when you already have a specific Pokémon(Which, basically cancels that entire pokémon’s line), So her getting Shinx later, because the first encounter was caught. It would not exactly qualify as species clause just yet. Now if she had caught that beginner sight Shinx, that would be a different Story. Also, I love your videos and I am glad, you have managed to find Jaiden Animations, Gem worthy content.

The move Aurora Veil didn't exist back in gen 4, so Abomasnow wouldn't have had it in Platinum. I think Aurora Veil got added in gen 6. CafeEla: argues that Gyarados is better than Garchomp (a pokémon that has notoriously traumatized players because of Cynthia) because Garchomp has a 4 times weakness to a not-very-common type Also CafeEla: proceeds to list several major negatives about Gyarados (it's low physical attack, it's 4 times weakness to fairly-common electric types, it's poor physical defense)

Y’know what’s funny about thunder? During my first play through of Pokémon Sword I hardly missed any. So I always thought people were over exaggerating. But, now I’ve brought my old Jolteon (oh yeah, BTW, the Pokémon using thunder was a Jolteon) to a new world so that I could keep him for the end game (and because I’m super attached to him NGL). And I’ve begun to realize that he misses allot more thunders than before. And I think I know why… His bond with my OG account was ridiculous, he would almost never miss in general, would get a lot of crits, and would almost always shake off paralysis or poison. So I just never noticed because of the bond increase. (That, and because back then I actually had REALLY good Pokémon luck, nowadays my luck is just the worst in pretty much everything that is a game)

Ive been having fun going back to me being 7 years old and playing pokemon red for the first time in like 20 years. I definately am using it as practice for a first nuzlock attempt in the future. Not making an OP starter and trying to balance my team is way harder than i remember the game being as a kid.

Actually, Spritomb did have a weakness if you knew how to expose it. I had a lucario with foresight which made fighting hit through ghost type, exposing its dark weakeness.

Dupes Clause would've applied to the Shinx if she caught the last one she encountered in a previous route, but she killed the Shinx so she had to catch the Valley Windworks Shinx.

Back in 4th gen wifi battles I had a choice specs Gyarados. Used him very rarely, only reason even made him was for a tournament after I was matched up with a guy that loved to go with Skarm Bliss combo. Also it was funny to use.

I think it is fair to try again if you wipe, instead of restarting completely. I don't play with the rule of restarting if I wipe, that's not fun for me, and Nuzlockes are supposed to be fun and challenging. Some people are fine with restarting from the beginning if they lose, but some people, like myself, can't handle that massive wasted time, our lives are short and not meant to be spent on restarting a difficult Nuzlocke 78 times until you can beat it without wiping once. I have wiped 4 times in all of my 17 Nuzlockes, once in Platinum, once in Black, once in Brilliant Diamond and once in Shining Pearl (Japanese Steellocke, only had my starter and lost the very first Trainer battle lol), but I always just soft reset to my last save point, I see no reason to go through everything again when I have save points. Saves are there for a reason (think Undertale). In my very first run of Brilliant Diamond, I did my very first Hardcore Nuzlocke (Nuzlocke nr. 12 in total), and while I did use the gift Jirachi and Manaphy (from SwSh save data and Mystery Gift), which SOME may find cheating - I don't, when you get Mythicals at level 1 or 5 in the beginning and never use them otherwise, so why not use them now? - I did not lose a SINGLE Pokémon throughout the region, even staying true to the level caps and never using items in battle, as well as having battle mode on "Set" (which I did from my 3rd Nuzlocke, Alpha Sapphire, and onward, now I always play on Set). It was first when I challenged the League that I not only lost Pokémon for the first time in my run, but also WIPED. I had played throughout the whole game blind, only looking at the old version of Diamond/Pearl for level caps, but not looking at the new teams so I did not know about their new move sets or held items, so I was surprised to see Roark's Cranidos use Bulldoze on my Budew. But when I reached the League, I decided to take off my blindfold and look at other people challenging the League and also at Serebii, because I had a feeling this League would be hard. Hard does not even BEGIN to describe the BDSP League. It is a straight up NIGHTMARE! I'm glad I checked! And so I formed a team I felt would work well against the League, my Infernape starter, as well as my Roserade, Luxray, Honchkrow, Mr. Mime and Gastrodon, with the best move sets and items I had and could get for them. I immediately lost my Infernape to Aaron's Drapion, and then I couldn't beat Cynthia because of her own Roserade, and even after beating the Roserade, I only had pretty much my Mr. Mime left for either Milotic or Garchomp, I don't remember, but she sweeped me. :,3 So I tried again, and this time I had better luck, did not lose anyone until Lucian, where I lost my Mr. Mime to Lucian's, either Girafarig or Alakazam, because RNG was not on my side with Attract this time (my Mr. Mime was female), but my Honchkrow managed the rest of the fight. When it came to Cynthia, I managed to beat her without my Mr. Mime, and thanks to my Infernape, Roserade was no trouble, but she did end up almost sweeping me again with her Garchomp. It ended up being my Roserade who took out her weakened Garchomp with either Giga Drain or Dazzling Gleam, I don't remember. My Roserade and Luxray were the only two survivors of my 2nd attempt at the BD League (yep, even my starter Infernape died :/), and Luxray was at red health so she was as good as dead anyway, so Roserade really was the only one who could save the run... and he did! Florentino the Roserade took down the Garchomp, after my brother said he couldn't take it down, and that makes me really happy, because I had a Roselia named Florentino in my 2nd Platinum Nuzlocke (the first one where I wiped was a Waterlocke), and he unfortunately died to a Gym Trainer's Haunter in the Hearthome Gym, because of Mean Look, Curse, Confuse Ray and Shadow Ball Sp. Def drop, and he only had Giga Drain to fight with (he had just learned that move, too). I loved that Roselia, and having no choice but to sack him was so heartbreaking, I was so looking forward to using a Roserade coz I had never used one before, and Roselia was really good... So using Florentino again, now as a Roserade, in Brilliant Diamond, and letting him win my run for me, beating the Champion, was really amazing. Roserade is really good. ANYWAY, I did not mean to write an essay again, I do this pretty often when I comment on KZfaq videos, I end up telling a story or just rambling on with my thoughts and theories on certain things that has to do with the videos. The point is... restarting from the beginning if you wipe is not an obligatory rule of the Nuzlocke, the only "mandatory" rules are 1 per area and permadeath. And hey, these are self-imposed rules, so you can even drop the permadeath if you don't like it, and just go with the 1 per area thing, because that is pretty fun, having a limited amount of Pokémon. Just do what you think is fun for you, not what other people think is fun or what they think is "right". We play video games to have fun and have a good time, after all, not to stress ourselves out. It's all up to you. :) Also, great reaction video, oops sry, almost forgot to say! ^^;

Review: if you say spiritomb doesn't have weakness, of course there is. Fairy power will do, but gen 4 doesn't have one. But if had Garedvior, it's easy win as long don't get hit with dark type

Watching that Kirlia die really stung for me, since Gardevoir is easily one of my favorite Pokemon. Any game where has Ralts is available to catch, it's one of my top priorities to get at least two of them (one male, one female, so that I can get both a Gardevoir & a Gallade). Especially once Gardevoir gains it's Fairy typing, it becomes my go-to answer for most Dragon types. ....So imagine my irritation in Sword & Shield when I find out that unless it's foggy (a weather condition that can't even happen until you defeat Leon), Ralts has an abysmally low spawn rate of 2% in the Wild Area. Also, in case you are unaware, Jaiden actually has one more Nuzlocke animation where she did a Soul Link (a cooperative two-player Nuzlocke) in Heart Gold/Soul Silver, and she did an animation for that Nuzlocke as well, titled "I Attempted a Two Player Nuzlocke". And if you still consider yourself a bit inexperienced as a Nuzlocker or are looking for possible tips, check out Pokemon Challenges. He's a professional Nuzlocker who has reacted to pretty much every KZfaqr Nuzlocke, and he offers constructive criticism and advice for all of them. Might be a good resource for you. :)

For dupes you need to have caught the pokemon before, just seeing it isn't enough. I've seen some different ways nuzlockers use dupes. The one is basically, if you catch one pokemon from the evolution line, every pokemon in the line is dupes. I think it's the more common thing, but I've also seen people use dupes only for the pokemon that they have the dex entry to (and a pokeball next to it in the battle screen which means caught), so if you catch a Shinx and it dies as a Luxio, you could technically still catch a Luxray. Of course both variants can be good or bad in some situations.

Crazy thing real quick if anyone wants to use this in their nuzlockes/playthroughs. A really fun thing you can do to give Spiritomb a weakness is you can setup foresight Lucario. Lucario is also crazy good in nuzlockes, fighting/steel is not that bad a typing.

I hit Thunder over 40 times in a row, switching between it and another move. I was training Jolteon against the ghost Pokémon in that haunted house, because SpA EVs.

My take on it is she failed the challenge due to bad RNG, but she failed. Though there is no shame in trying if she could have won, as you said basically, its all about fun at the end. An this subplot was just awesome in the video, so its a win for every viewer too :D

nerly all the comments on the video go on to talk about Jaiden's loss, so ill address it to. while it's self imposed, it is a fail. that said, what Jaiden did WITH the story of the two is incredible. besides, her fans weren't gonan let the circumstances of this one go unanswered. What i love about this nuzlocke are the little and big details. the glimmer in turts eyes when Turt took out that first shinx, and then that look of "OH NO" and eye play when the Gible dropped later. heck, every use of turt as a club (then Gyarados). all of the expressions around shellos/gastrodon, and the drool lines on sqoop, LOL, and Oops. backing the whole Cynthia boss fight with the approaching Piano rendition along with the dimension world set up is perfect. little shocks of "WTF" leading into a foreboding entrance, that plays throughout until the raining confetti of victory.. only to be replaced with such a... thoughtful, in my mind musical following. to really make it sink in, at least to me, that despite it all... it felt hollow. which it goes out on perfectly. reminds me of my own challenge runs which don't complete to my personal standard. That Staraptor hit though. people need to not underestimate flying, but especially not Staraptor. that brave bird even without a crit is such a potent thing. that was likely an intimidate one, but even under those conditions, this was still a 120 base attack flying move pre-stab, coming off a base attack stat that is just 5 less than a Gyarados. had that been a hidden ability Staraptor... tack on an extra 20%. in this Gen's OU competitive tier, this sucker was even capable of pulling out moves like U-turn, Double-edge, and Return or frustriation, all moves which under optimal conditions were over 100 base power or great utility. what REALLY set 'em apart is Close Combat as a fighting type 120 power move gained on level-up no less, so this thing even had limited fighting coverage! Taillow is one of my favorite early route pokemon, but this thing broke the scale for me.

Since Jaiden didn't catch the previous Shinx, this Shinx is her encounter for the Valley Windworks 8:50 Jaiden knows that would technically be a dupes clause encounter, but dupes doesn't count if you caught the Pokemon, at that point it's just your encounter

So let’s mention the 4x weakness comment lol, okay yes Garchomp does have a 4x weakness to Ice but Gyarados also has a 4x weakness but instead to Electric which is by far more common than Ice type Pokemon. Both Gyarados and Garchomp hit hard, But the Pseudo is faster. I’d take my pick with Garchomp haha. But I respect the opinion. I´m all for Jaiden giving it a 2nd go and showing that she lost the way she did was a brilliant move and she said it at the end that she failed. By the rules she used she failed the run. A Nuzlocke has the status and popularity it does becouse it has some hard set rules u use from the start like whiting out is a run lose. So u cant then go around claiming to have completed your Nuzlocke run when u clearly failed under the rule set u used from the beginning. CafeEla saying it dosent make u any less of a winner, in this case yeah it does Jaiden failed the challenge of the run. Just to be perfectly clear i dont have any issues with Jaiden doing a 2nd run at the E4 becouse her chat overwelmingly wanted her to. But u cant ignore the fact that she failed the Nuzlocke and she dident. Jaiden dident accept this as a victory becouse she knew she hade failed it and just did a 2nd E4 run becouse chat wanted her to and in the end it was a masterful way for her to show that she failed while still finishing the games story. U cant just ignore your own rules set at the start of the game and say u completed a Nuzlocke when u dident becouse at that point u may aswell do a standard playthrough and it would destroy the whole ide of what a Nuzlocke really is if u just say "that wipe was just bad luck lets ignore that" Jaiden knew she failed the run and despite how many ppl wanted her to accept the win. Her last words was pretty clear and she accepted the fact that she failed her Nuzlocke run.
