Hi cozy people! I finally watched my first Jaiden Animations video and I can't believe how long it took me ;-; this was SUCH an amazing experience and such a great ride. Jaiden is SUCH a talented human and I adored the writing and the storyboard and how she brought her nuzlocke to life.

That was pretty much my “reaction” when I saw her do Alpharad’s leaf green one. Like she clearly does know the nitty gritty of how these games *work* But she’s way more concerned about the narrative and the poor Bois dying in the line of fire. It’s kinda what reaction videos are for… to kinda share the experience and amplify you’re own through it… Everyone else I’ve seen is rather analytical about it… and while it has given me big brain… there’s something… comforting? About seeing someone fawn over the cute imagery and be like “I know right?” It weirdly… validating? Idk. Tldr: She’s like an excited kitten or something XD

Interestingly, if Jaiden _had_ used Rare Candies to train ZipZapZop then it would have probably died to Altaria's Earthquake. Marill give HP EVs to the Pokémon that gain experience so she was unknowingly giving it the added bulk to take that hit. Yeah, raw grinding can be a pain, but it does leave your Pokémon better off in the long run if you know what to grind against, whereas Rare Candy spam doesn't give that gradual incremental growth in your stats which helped save ZipZapZop from early death.

This is the reason I still grind in Nuzlockes yeah. I'm not super good at calculating odds and damage rolls so I would rather have the extra bonus to my 'Mons stats in order to compensate. Not even just that though, I feel like grinding also puts you at risk for losing 'Mons which is part of the challenge anyways. Sure in most cases it won't be an issue and be just completely boring, but for stuff like Gen 4 games and Gen 6/7 games where the wild encounters are pretty spooky throughout, you're robbing yourself of the challenge just using Rare Candies. To each their own though.

@@heartnet40exactly with the "risk of losing Pokemon" part! I get it's a grind but people can lose to wild pokemon surprisingly often!

I play with level caps, So what I do is that right after a gym leader I grind until I'm 4 levels away from the level cap and then I go to the next Gym (probably leveling up in the meantime if I'm in early game) When I get to the Gym I level all ofmy team until I get to the level cap with rare candy

it's a good video. What jaiden didnt realize was when she was grinding zip-zap and killing all the marill added HP (hit point) status to zip-zap letting it tank an earthquake from an altaria which is basically EVE training. Didnt realize it until another nuzlocker that was reacting to the same video mentioned it lol

This was a nice reaction to watch. I like seeing people appreciate the art, animation and feelz of these Nuzlockes and not just be purely analytical. Analysis is nice and good for learning, but it's good to also just take a moment and appreciate the effort made to create these videos. :)

Little fun fact the team that Jaiden showed getting wiped is the team that Teamfourstar, known for dragon ball z abridged among other things, used in their hoenn nuzlocke.

Zipzapzop survived on 2 hp cuz of the hp evs from the 80 marill, in short, Marill gives 2 hp evs, magneton survived. Reaction is cute tho

Why does it feel like an unspoken rule, to not comment on a YT video more than once? Anyway I really enjoyed watching this, I love the Jaiden Nuzlocke videos (especially this one because electrike is in there! :3) and your emotional commentary and mentioning all your Pro Nuzlocke knowlegde was really entertaining Did you actually watch her video the first time for this video?

I never follow that unspoken rule, though I do feel it. I tend to sometimes leave more than one comment on the same video, though mostly if a lot of time has passed between my previous watch and new watch and I have found more to say about the video.

the thing that always gets in the way of me doing a nuzlocke is ill decide to take a short break... then come back to it like, months later, when ive forgotten i was doing a nuzlocke, and by the time i remember i was doing one, ive broken damn near every rule and end up just playing normally.

Mawile is the very definition of wasted potential. It has a unique and kinda cool-ish design, a fantastic ability, and being Steel doesn't hurt either. ..... buuuut the positives end there. For starters, in Gen 3 Mawile doesn't learn even ONE attacking Steel move, so it can't benefit from STAB. Not only that, the physical/special split didn't exist yet then, so which one a move was was dependant on the move's type... and Mawile learns next to nothing that takes advantage of its higher physical attack stat. The best move you can teach it in Gen 3 is Slash. That's it. But even now, years later, new moves and a new typing still don't fix the biggest problem with Mawile: its stats are _absolutely pitiful._ Its physical attack stat is the only one that stands out, and its defense is just... okay. Its speed, HP, and special defense don't even crack base values of 60, meaning it gets easily outsped and effortlessly steamrolled by just about everything. As fun as its idea is, in a nuzlocke it's strictly death fodder and nothing more.

Sorry if this is harsh but she evolved certain Pokémon to early if she had evolved shroomish later after getting spore it would’ve probably won due to spore being op

I mean that's what nuzlockes are so good for, right? We learn so much!! It was her first nuzlocke and I think it's tough to expect someone to know that some evolutions need to be delayed :3 Spore IS OP (especially pre gen 6 where it still works on grass types too)

8:10-8:13 what does she mean it'll fail if the pokémon's lvl is higher than the user? Only pokémon gain lvls. Unless it's referring to the lvl cap for gym badges, like after the 2nd gym pokémon up to lvl 30 will obey you, etc. 🤔🤷

If you are using Sheer Cold with a level 50 Articuno, and you are fighting a level 51 Mudkip, Sheer Cold will automatically and always fail because the target is higher level than the user.

I think people can play nuzlockes however they enjoy it the most! Same goes for rulesets, at the end it's all about the individual fun 🥰

@@CafeEla I do agree, however wasn't the whole point of the nuzlocke to provide extra challenge? Hacking a game is a form of cheating and if your hacking something into the game that gives you an advantage, then in my eyes you defeat the purpose of said challenge and I like to think jaiden knows this

In this scenario specifically, rare candies would have resulted in Zip Zap Zop's death, making the challenge harder. The only reason it survived was because of how many HP Evs it got from the marril. So no matter how you play, you will face different challenges. In the end, most of the outcomes come down to predictions in battle, good move sets, and RNG. Assuming you dont over level, which is also perfectly valid in a standard nuzlock.
