This is PERFECT for my daughter. At her young age ,we aren't ready for her to have a fully-functioning phone yet, but she really wants an iPhone. She has had an iPad for some years, so she is already familiar with the App Store and her favorite apps. She wants something for her pocket that she can film videos on and use iMessage to communicate with her cousins. This is the perfect small step towards a phone! And PINK??? Perfect!! Thanks!

ipods are actually so useful because they teach kids how to handle a device so that they are ready when they get a real phone. i had one until i was 11 and it really helped me learn how to manage my phone responsibly and i never broke or lost it once

Honestly I think iPods are great for younger kids, like you said. I know a lot of parents give their kids their old phones with no sim card so it's basically an iPod. But the "problem" with that is that it still was at one point an expensive device. Personally I don't think kids need have fully functional smart phones (Just my opinion. I'm not a parent and I would never tell anyone how to parent their kids). So this is a perfect device for them and really affordable when it comes to smart devices.

iPod touch 6 has an old A8 chip and 1 GB of RAM (and, of course, it doesn’t support iOS 13). iPod touch 7 has a decent A10 Fusion chip and 2 GB of RAM. And, of course, new 7th generation support AR (augmented reality)

TheEshmolWaffle My childhood was the ipod 4. But back then it was actually a thing. iPhones had the same screen sizes and the same internals so it was almost the same. Now the ipod 7 has the same design as the old one and it's small af. The camera and is also outdated. Plus everyone has a phone now. So the only reason I would buy that would be for my child (which I don't have) and I would use family sharing to check on what apps he/she downloads. It has no other use than that imo.

I had one of the first Ipod touches. I just got this for my son for Christmas. He is 10 so I rather get this then spend a ton of money on a phone. I got it in blue. I cant wait for him to get it. He is dying for one. :) He has watched this video like 10 times to learn about it. Thanks Justine. :)

I don't know why people wonder why they still make ipods. I still have my 5g touch and thats just to be a music player, saves memory and battery on regular phone for apps and pictures/videos. Also as someone with massive music library its nice to have a device with all my music that isn't as big as phone, and doesn't require cell/wifi service to listen to my music. Contrary to what people believe ipods/mp3 players are not obsolete.
