Can you save multiple setups in the app? For example, if you have three B10 units and get the power level for each unit set up just right, can you save that setup in the app and jump back to it quickly at any time?

The B2 head weights 1.5 pounds and B10 weights 3.3 pounds. My assistants often complain of handling a heavy light lead + modifier in the air and the weight of the B2 head + modifier is much lighter. True the B2 has a power pack, but that weight is around my assistants shoulders or when mounted on a light stand it acts as sandbag. The B10 has no hanging cables which is a nice bonus but look at the pros and cons and determine which setup fills your needs. ** As of the writing of this, the B2 two head location kit comes in at $2000 USD from BH, and well under the B10 kit for early adopters.

Hey bud! Thanks so so much for the video. Can you help me.. One of the people that went to the Alaska event has said that there is only a 1/3 stop difference between this and the b1x at full power! I have a week left where I can return my b1x if needed. Can you confirm this is true?
@travisharrisphotography

YES! This helps! I have not slept in 2 days LOL. I was like.. how in the world can this be? For reference, here is where I got this info from.. (he posted up in the description the difference with the B1.) he also noted a full stop more power with the B2! Which, again.. is kinda crazy.. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Z62JpbV5v5jLgZ8.html But, man.. if you just tested it.. What can I say lol. Yeah, I was actually hoping there would be at least a 1 stop difference to justify keeping my two B1X's that I just bought!
@travisharrisphotography

Yeah, I too would have thought the same! Although, (embarrassingly enough after 8 years of shooting pro...I did not know this.. ) I watched this video last night with my man Mark.. and he did a great demo showing how watt seconds, really have very little to do with the actual output of the flash. Check this one (you may already know all this) kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ataBlLF0lamVn6c.html . This is really interesting tho.. is there any chance (even a cell phone video) you could throw something up to show the B1X vs. the B10 full power with stock heads no mods.. and show us all? This way, I can share this video with f-stoppers and also share with my man in LA because if he is getting 1 full stop more.. then something is not adding up, and I think your right on the money here. A video showing this will trend like crazy..

Totally agree with you! Yes, especially from the same manufacture! Okay great, let me know when you put up a new video.. if you can throw one together today / tonight / tomorrow id be happy to donate $50 payPal to you. I really need to see this, to determine if I keep this B1X kit, or send it back. A full stop of real world results means I keep it, because this has a big impact in the field for sure, especially with HSS. Seeing that other dudes video (and hes huge on IG too) so I also think he knows what hes doing.. makes us all scratch our head! Seeing your video will be gold!

Okay, a small break through!! I got Daniel Norton in NYC with Adorama to do a test today. It's not on his KZfaq yet.. but, he did it on his IG live, and I saw it on the replay. He literally did this for me LMAO. (what a cool guy!) If you search his name on IG, you will see his live video (for 24hrs). It was pretty interesting. In the end the difference in power that he measured on camera was 1/2 stop difference between B1X and the B10. So, not quite a full stop, and not a 1/3rd. Would love for you to confirm. If this is the case now, it's a hard call weather for me to keep the B1X kit I just got, or return and pre-order the B10's . As a wedding / location portrait guy my style is very much over powering the sun, HSS, etc.. so power is def. important. But, man.. size and portability is another big factor too! I did a mock up test here in my house, got an image properly exposed and then reduced the flash power on the back 0.5 (half a stop) and took the same image so I could visualize a real world result. It's a pretty big difference, but again if I move the light stand closer by about 18" it's the same. It just depends, it also means if I want to shoot horizontal (landscape style) then, having more room for the comp. also becomes a factor too. Of course, I can use a harder magnum and remove the power difference completely.. yet another option lol. But, that same mod. on my B1X, is also just that much more powerful as well. It's SO hard to decide! I guess having both would be the ideal. 4 light setup, with the option to just run and gun with the little guys when needed / travel etc.

Why is the Magum one of your favorite tools? Also, one of the features you failed to mention is the battery can be connected to a battery charger and you can leave the B10 on all day. I wish the B1X batteries had that functionality.

I don’t understand why Profoto claims the b10 equals to 5 speedlite when it’s not. 2.5 times to speedlite max I would say. I am a b1s user and 500w/s is also not 10 times of speedlite as well. Profoto makes things work. Very expensive with great quality but they are misleading the infos which I don’t agree.
@Molaleni
@Molaleni 5 жыл бұрын
If we’re talking about five cheap speedlites then the b10 will be more powerful. But five speedlites by canon will have more power than the B10. Lucky for Profoto, I don’t care for power. I like their design so I’ll be buying the two kit

From what I'm told is that Android is a more complicated platform (unlike apples') to make compatible as apparently you start from scratch after every update... so coding is a game of catch-up... but don't quote me, i'm not that techy,

The led lights are not that great for video/film work with the CRI rating they currently have. This together with lack of precise white balance indication there is a lot to be wished for. As strobes they seem incredibly portable and good for 95% of the work.
@michaeltebinka
@michaeltebinka 5 жыл бұрын
Raph Nogal Photography I think a CRI of 95+ or TLCI of same rating would be more accurate for more colour critical work without the need of any gels that might allow for correction. But a good start would be actual WB indication and go from there. Having purchased a pair of B10s I am very very happy with the quality of the strobes, and Im excited to see if they will improve on the LED lighting.

its 250watts at full power. same as the flashpoint / godox ad200. so you will be paying extra for the continuous light feature, the white balance adjustment , and the bluetooth function..!??! ad200 is $299 ( $30 extra for extension head ) profoto is going insane with $1600?? man..they going down the same road as.....#RIPBOWENS

Raph Nogal Photography I love my Porsche and I love my B1 and B2s. This seems an excellent choice for traveling.
@rui1863
@rui1863 5 жыл бұрын
I think you're missing some objectivity there... what about the refresh rate or light modifiers? The ad200 is a speed light with frustrating light modifiers setups. I got into Profoto modifiers with the Profoto speed light ring and Nikon speed lights. Hated working with the speed lights and sold the speed light ring and all but one speed light -- replacing them with B2s instead. I agree the price to play is high; however, Profoto has a vast collection of light modifiers that work in the field with the B series strobes and integrates into the studio with the D series strobes. I've also been looking at Rotolight for continuous lighting use for video and the B10 offers another option to consider as it would fit right it with my current lighting system -- usable for video and still photography while the Rotolight would mainly be used for video but would be brighter.

@@RaphNogalPhotography what a bullshit comparison on this all over the internet. If you want to pay 5 times the price that's your decision but don't act like these are super different and the profoto is that superior.

Jef de Vries there’s also gas mileage, customer service at the dealership, features, and maintenance. I can see the point of the comparison but in terms of getting you there, what makes Profoto shoot for that higher pricing?

Really irritating music. Why not the Elinchrom ELB500 2 light kit that provides 250ws each head, HSS, 1/8000 flash duration at $2700 CDN? I think it's a viable alternative.
@chrisklugh
@chrisklugh 5 жыл бұрын
Its also not as versatile as a do-it-all kit. The only problem I have is price. But I like how its can work for both video and photo applications, and within reason, carry an entire kit in one bag. The ELB500 is nice if your just into photos though!

Ok the Bluetooth app on the phone so you can see the power on the light is set at, but why oh why does the power output not show on the air remote! I have hired these lights and cannot understand why when you change the power on the flash with the air remote it just Beep To let you know it's doing something, I want to see the power change on the back of the air remote it cannot be that difficult for pro foto to make this happen????? And I am sorry but for the money these cost, it should have this facility???? Give me this facility I will buy some, not until!
