I agree 100% with the comment about hoods open at a car show. It just shows me that the owner doesn't care about the style and looks of the car. If someone wants to see the engine compartment then they can open it for them.

Yeah i had to chuckle when Tony made that comment because i thought i was the only person who felt that way about wanting to see the entire car properly. The shape and body lines of the car get all distorted when the hood is open.

It's nice that you only have to remove the radio knobs and 2 screws for the trim piece to get to the clock and not have to pull the whole dash. And it's great that you found a working clock. I'm really enjoying these videos and looking forward to seeing more. Great work!

There was a lot of good tutorials in this video Tony!! Fun fact: That digital clock was standard in the LTD Landau and LTD Country Squire wagon. The other models had an analog clock. And the quality on them wasn't very good. When we took delivery of our special order 1978 Ford Country Squire wagon, the clock was broken. We had to bring the car back in the first week of ownership to have it replaced under warranty. And sadly, when the new clock was installed, the dealer didn't align it correctly so those silver bars(outlines) embedded in black panel of the clock face weren't horizontal. My father had to remove it just like you did in this video and make sure it was square before tightening up the screws. Brings back memories.

Wow.....I didn't realize dealerships were so careless back then. I guess some things never change. This new clock keeps perfect time and is quite as a mouse.

You made the right call on replacing the radiator Tony. When I had my 1991 Crown Victoria LX wagon restored in 2020 my mechanic Butch told me that the original radiator was becoming delaminated so I told them to replace it. Since I was getting the engine and transmission rebuilt there was no sense putting the old radiator back in . In regards to your comments on white wall tires versus black walls - no contest . In my opinion white walls on these cars is the only way to go. I had all new white walls put on the 1991 in 2020, on my Mercury Grand Marquis in 2023 ( Hankook ) and just this year 4 new white walls ( Uniroyal Tiger Paws ) on my 1987 Crown Victoria wagon. As you say they are attainable if you look for them. Good luck with the Country Squire. I am sure it will be greatly admired at the car shows as are my wagons.

Tony, I used to own a ‘79 Buick Electra Park Avenue like the one you saw at the shop, only a 4-door. Bought it from the original elderly owner. The Park Avenue trim got you a super-posh crushed velour loose-pillow interior, shag carpet and assorted Cadillac bits. Mine had the Olds 403. What a gorgeous car, especially with the chrome Buick wheels like on the one you saw.

Job well done Tony we had the Landau Luxury group on our 1975 Country Squire at the time we thought The Mechanical digital clock was cool Ford was notorious back in the 70s & 80s for shipping Customers factory specked ordered cars void of what was actually ordered Yes this happened at Chry Co AMC & GM but again Ford was notorious for this fallacy even getting the color wrong the dealers always blamed the Order Processing Center And Ford came back at the dealership Manager and told them they need to take their time & double check the PO order codes when when useing the Punch Key device with the aluminum plate Properly inserted in the machine then they wire the information to the assembly plant and still Mail in the punch plate about the size of a Cars License plate

That wagon is going to be really nice when you get done with it. You are so careful with your cars. You said that you’re going to Dearborn with the car. Is that at Greenfield village on father’s day weekend? If so may see you there. Enjoy your desire to make the restoration factory correct, and the white walls. If it had 4 channel Quadrasonic sound, the best seats would be back at the checkerboard table. Humans don't detect the direction of sound from behind their head as they do for sound in front of them. Quad tends to be most effective when it's at the side and infront of the listener. That wagon would probably sound pretty nice in 4 channel.

Yeah my 77 Lincoln town Coupe needs a radiator 400 bucks. A four row radiator. Car overheats, it has a startup running problem. I want to yank the 460 and put in a turbo diesel but that would cost a lot of money and have too many cars. But a 460 in today's gas prices just isn't worth it in a big car. I restore Hood ornaments. I'm always needing the bottom mounting pieces I have plenty of light new top part pieces.
