Hi Tony, I have an 88 TC. Having a problem with my left rear door window. It goes down slowly but doesn’t come back up. Starts clicking. Die you think it’s the motor or the regulator.

Thank you for this video!!! I believe this is what might have failed on my 1972 Ford LTD Country Squire. The power window motor was making a rhythmic clunking sound when the window was moved, and now there is no more movement from the window when the motor is operated from the "Accessory" switch. Fortunately the window is all the way up !! Of course these pins are now more than 50 years old, so what can be expected ?

I have a '97 Towncar and I'm having an intermittent problem with the latch. Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't. But If it doesn't go down and lock when I close the hood, I'll just park the car and sometime during the night it will close on it's own. Because when I come down in the morning the hood is fully closed. So whats up with that? Also your video is finally giving me an answer to the function of the top latch, and that it's just a ground cutoff switch? It has no moving parts other than that little lever, and if the hood isn't closing it's always the motor that needs to be replaced? I'd like to fix this soon.. It just started giving me problems a couple of months ago. Great video

I have a keyless entry system just a universal one i ordered from Amazon. I have yet to try to install, your video has helped me alot with what wire is what on these trucks! if i cant figure it out im definitely going to order this one from you i really wish these trucks came with keyless entry i have the 17+ style mirrors with puddle lights that id love for them to turn on when i hit the unlock buttom (wired into the dome lights) thanks for the video!!.. i have a 05 f250

In my opinion there hasn't been a Town Car worth having since 1989. I've had several of the newer models. None of them drove as good as the 85-89 models. Load leveling shocks or aftermarket rear air shocks were better anyway. I know those who prefer floaty rides disagree but my contention there was if you want a floaty ride without much control you should have bought a Cadillac Brougham. +My 88 LTC radio worked just fine..but when the cassette player ate my John Stearns tape I took it out and put in a Sony CD player. Might still have the radio. I have a 92 Ford radio with cassette player that works still. Best I ever got with the 88 was 22.4 and with the converters. Mine were fine. It didn't use oil even with over 300,000 miles when I last saw it. My 80 model Continental Town Coupe 351W the cats were removed when I got it and it had a nice 300cfm autolite 2150 with that first year Overdrive and I think the only overdrive behind the 351. Best mileage I ever got with it and it was 2.73 behind the 351 whereas 302 used 3.08 final.. anyway I drove it from Golden City to Nevada dealership to have something adjusted and it was a cold day with snow on the highway and that tank I registered 22.2 mpg but like the 88 I mostly got 20-21. I still prefer the SBF to the Mod 4.6. The 85 up Siamese bore block, SEFI SD injected and E6 or E7 or GT40 heads just really didn't have too many issues and with good care 400,000 miles wasn't uncommon.

Two very beautiful examples of why they called Ford/Mercury the Wagonmasters. I recently had the key switch replaced on my 1987 Crown Victoria wagon and the mechanic who did the work had to cobble together parts from a used tailgate with the existing linkages to get everything including the power door lock to work due to wear . These two way door gates are a marvel and never fail to impress people. I was at the Grocery store today and a man parked behind me said he waited until I returned to the car so he could talk to me about it. It always amazes people when I tell them I have two wagons that are almost twins. My 1991 LX model is my show car although the1987 is in fair condition. Thanks for the video.

I believe the gas mileage in the mid 20s mpg as I bought a 1989 Ford LTD Crown Vic which routinely averaged 24=26 mpg on the highway.

Thanks. I did it! A Lincoln Mark LT so a few differences. Took me several days over a few weeks cause I'd start and get stuck put things back together. Frustrated. Wait. Search for what I was stuck on and tried again. Got it, then took everything out again. 3rd day after 6 hours the rain cam early so had to cover everything then the next day finished and put most things back. Lost a couple screws and a bit and have some screws I don't remember where they went but it works. Hopefully for the rest of my ownership cause I don't want to have to do it again. Being an older woman I'm proud that I did it. Thanks again.

The rear window in my '74 Country Squire doesn't go up or down, and I don't hear the window motor trying to run, either, so I have some sorting out to do with it. Maybe it's the switch on the dash panel? If I need torque pins, are those available new somewhere? I just might have to try and find a NOS window motor, though. Thanks again for the info!

Hi Tony. It was interesting to see how you do that but you sure have more patience than I do. You would think they would provide a way to remove that metal panel so you have access to the internal parts without drilling holes and reaching inside to do everything. You need three hands. Maybe not using plastic parts would be a good idea too. Probably blame that on the bean counters like Adam. Always fun.

Hey Tony what mufflers does Darin have on the Colony Park? I have a 76 Country Squire and put thrush hush mufflers, sound nice at idle but too noisy for driving on the highway. I’d like something quieter but still hear the V8.

Too much stuff detracts. Those thin black body side moldings look cheap, from Walmart. 😂 They stick on w/that 3m 2 sided tape. Don’t put it in your wagon, junky looking…

I have owned a lot of Ford and LINCOLN products with power windows. I have never had a motor go out. It’s always those three bushings. I do not know what GM uses on that much GM person least you can buy just those three bushings by themselves are a bushing and a gear.

To me both those wagons are in really good condition and shape they were very well preserved, I would choose and pick those two wagons over a mini van, crossover or suv anytime. At least back then you knew exactly what you had and drove back in the day. Our dad 👨🏾 had a 72 Ford LTD Country Squire And a 75 Mercury Grand Marquis Colonial Park. They both were Fully Equipped, Fully Loaded Fully Powered the 72 Ford was like a burnt gold color with brown interior and Big Block 4BBL 429 V8 and the 75 Mercury Grand Marquis was a light yellow cream puff with a Big Block 4BBL 460 V8 it was the envy of the street and where he worked at they both had the same exact factory 🏭 installed roof racks and AM/FM Stereo Radios 📻 tilt steering wheel cruise control dual remote control mirrors. I remember both of those wagons to this very day right along with the other 4 he had, his first two were Dodges a 1960 and a 68 and the other two were 69 Chevy Caprice wagons. The 60 Dodge was Black with the tail fins on the rear quarter panel fenders and the tailgate rear window it had the armstrong folding handle to roll the tailgate glass window down to get the air and cross breeze and to roll it up when it rained🌧️ ☔️ or snowed the other was a 68 Black Dodge Monaco with the fake wood like grain contact decal on both sides and tailgate along with the bodyside molding and the tailgate as well factory installed ladder roof rack they were all 8 to 9 passengers and the 69 Chevy Caprice Wagons 1 was a dark chocolate brown the other was a light yellow cream. Dad didn’t have a choice back then there were seven of us 4 boys 👦🏽👦🏾👦🏾👦🏽 and 3 girls 👧🏽👧🏾👧🏽 2 older brothers 3 older sisters and then there the youngest boys me and our mom’s youngest of whom she would spoil rotten to the core when we weren’t looking 👀. Ahh those were the days. The days of the beach 🏖️🏝️ wagon station 🚉 wagon no minivans but there was the VW Minibus. So many awesome and great memories we had back then. Yo thanks for this video I watched this one time while I was at work an went home an swap out the regulator in about 15min what helped the most was that it was the same door also the factory bolt up top did match the aftermarket replacement on mine but thank you so much for the video AAA all the way much love my guy
