You need to re-read the numbers, because Gas isn't up and the economy is expanding, so no, not shrinkflation, not stagflation, in fact, barely even inflation anymore. Are you hoping for deflation? Is that what this post is trying to say? Because deflation is even worse than inflation. We had 2 years of terrible inflation and people are learning the hard way how much that stings. But unemployment is near record low and we haven't had a single recessive quarter.

The US is doing better economically than every other developed country in the world right now and it's not even close. The Eurozone pays 8 euros for a liter gas and has roughly the same GDP they had in 2008. Japan and Korea are in terminal demographic decline. Canada's private sector is so monopolized that it's become inefficient. If you want better than the best economy in the world, then you want a fairytale, not reality, because this is the best there is. Sorry that life is hard.

@@ThePredilection "facts" without context. Stock market is up, but fails to mention the 24% loss in revenue from companies that are not publicly traded (which, you know, make up the MAJORITY of businesses). You know, failing to mention the two trillion dollar annual deficit with over 4% CPI. Those facts? Or how every major credit card company is reporting record number charge-offs because Americans now owe more than $1trillion in credit card debt on top of all the other debt, including those that bought cars priced tens of thousands over MSRP at climbing interest rates that they can no longer pay back, so there's a massive recall of cars and a massive wave of defaults that many banks will likely not be able to recover from because those same vehicles are no longer valued at the price they were financed for. This also has trickle down effects for people looking for loans in the future which puts the brakes on spending... which as we know in a capitalist economy is a BAD THING. But let's focus on how good those stock prices are doing...for the investors and inside traders in congress that own stock. Oh let's also say "the housing market is great!" while the housing market continues to cool because those people that bought houses they couldn't afford at interest rates that are too high are now being foreclosed on. Do you know who is coming in to buy these houses? It's not you and me. It's Wallstreet. It will give this illusion of an okay market while also neglecting what increased home values are doing to property taxes...which again, means that homeowners that were able to afford their homes no longer can. The percentage of people who rent rather than own is going up, and those that haven't locked in affordable rates at affordable prices are not going to be buying homes in the foreseeable future. And the job growth? Over the last 4 months, those impressive job numbers have been revised to be over 100,000 jobs less than what was reported. Most of the job growth ISN'T in the private sector, either. It takes just a drop of common sense to know why this is a BAD thing long-term... hell, right now, it's bad in the short term. Why don't you look at other 'facts' instead of what is being parroted here. The only goal the media has right now is to make the current administration look good while the administration does everything in its power to delay the inevitable. It's coming, and boy is it going to hit the ground hard when it does. But let's keep up the illusion so that big bag Trump doesn't take the Whitehouse again (which at this point is almost inevitable).

If you look at the job market from before he got into office and today, the job market hasn't recovered. If a company had 2,000 workers, pre-covid, and things were running smoothly, then government mandates cause 1,000 to be fired or quit, you're hurting. After those people left, the older folks at that place retire due to their age and not wanting to keep doing their job because it just got 3x harder to do, so now you have 900 people left to run the place. Now you might get people hired in due to incentives to get new blood in there, but most quit before they've been there a month and more regular people quit. Fast forward 4 years and the place might have 1,700 working there today. The government says they've created jobs because 1,700 people are working there when they compare it to the 900 they had before, but the business is still 300 people short of where they were 4 years ago.

"The stock market is high". Bill, you and I BOTH know that don't mean shit to regular Americans and is exactly the kind of thing Trump would have used to praise his Presidency. In fact, it was still high under his Presidency, even despite the pandemic. He was even gladly gloating about it. Let's not keep giving Republicans more right-wing talking points to justfy further bleeding the American economy.

The stock market DOES matter to regular Americans. You think ppl would be out spending money on houses, cars, furniture, vacations, restaurants etc… if the stock market was way down? It’s about a general “environment” of investments and economic growth. Jobs and wages would suffer if the stock market was trending down. How convenient to downplay the good economic trends while a Democrat is in office.

@@ericjames4887 Got nothing to do with Democrat vs Republican. Trump was just as happy to play it up during the pandemic, despite the fact that the stock market's success even during a pandemic would NOT mean much to regular people, especially those dying or who lost family members to Covid. And no, it does NOT matter to a regular person unless they have stock in a company. The stock is and always has been pure speculation. The only reason is isn't "gambling" is because real returns can be made based on the financial health of a company. But that financial health and success is beholden to investors" emotions and hesitation. Most people don't base their wealth or even standard of living and salary on stocks. Capital gains are just one way of earning money, but you have to have money first to invest before you can turn it around for even more money. And that's something many Americans don't even have the luxury of being able to do that much. People want to see gains realized TODAY. NOT weeks, months, or years from now. They need money to put food on the table now. And only a higher salary guarantees that. Stocks mean nothing if consumers can't afford the products and services that these companies sell. Or simply aren't interested in said product/service (see AMC stock).

I'm a strong liberal but I feel like I got stuck in the wrong era. Leftists have massacred the old fashioned (and pragmatic) liberalism and radicalized it while calling themselves liberals as a mask to hide their extremism. They aren't even close to liberalism and it's humiliating that I get lumped up with them. I'm just surprised no one cheered about this particular issue, it's like the audience last night was filled with people who don't believe women should have equal human rights and freedom. Like wtf? And that was a damn novel. Apologies. I guess I had to vent.

It's not weird when you consider the grip extreme feminism has on the left. Sadly, most liberals don't know that feminism and women's rights are not the same thing, just as animal rights and animal welfare are different. Not surprisingly, both feminism and animal rights use the same tactic by making themselves synonymous with moderate positions, all while subtly steering the narrative towards their extreme views. And also not surprisingly, both originated with the same people. I suggest doing a deep dive into feminism and its true history, and especially their core literature. Misandry and misinformation have been there from the start. Support women's rights, but not feminism.

Saying "inflation is a problem" is sensible. Saying "Biden caused inflation, Trump is the solution" is profoundly stupid. The US government under Trump quadrupled the amount of money in circulation, from $4 trillion to $16 trillion. And people wonder why we had inflation in 2021 onwards. Don't get me wrong, Biden contributed to inflation as well. But people only think he's the main cause because most people are dumb enough to assume "it happened at the same time as X" means "X caused it". Neither Biden nor Trump is fit to deal with this problem.
