2 жыл бұрын

This Only Human documentary explores the lives of Britain's biggest family and how they cope with their chaotic and unique lives. Sue and Noel Radford have 16 kids already and they aren't stopping there. The couple were both given up for adoption at birth and due to their neglected childhoods wanted a big family. Sue first fell pregnant with Chris at just 14 in 1989 and was determined to keep the baby. She married Noel four years later - and they were soon expecting their second child Sophie. From then onwards she gave birth to a new child every year for over a decade. But as they try for number 17 there are complications and the family is faced with some life-changing news.
Only Human celebrates and explores the unique and personal qualities we all have. Our channel offers a range of TV series and documentaries about human experiences and life journeys - while looking at the challenges life throws at us, turning ordinary people into everyday heroes.

As much as I think it’s too many- they all seem very happy and well adjusted! And the parents seem very able to both emotionally handle the craziness and are physically dedicated to doing the work that’s necessary. It’s not for me but they seem to be doing well! Grandpa made me laugh 😂

@@jessicasparkles1619 I’m one of two and I had to take care of the house. It’s not a crime for children to clean up after themselves and pitch in on household chores. It’s crazy that the mom does all the laundry herself. When I was in 4th grade I remember is when my sister and I started doing the dishes every other night. We’d also help our mother hang clothes on the line. Then take them down and fold them. Rake the yard and all kinds of other work around the house as well as school work. Kids seem to have it easy these days.

I worked in social services and my dad is #3 of 21 children. I can confidently say that it comes down to how healthy their attachment develops. When asked about whether or not they felt neglected, my aunts said the love only grew, it didn't divide. There weren't any luxuries such as vacations and farmwork was mandatory, but they talk about their upbringing like they won the jackpot. Contrast that with well-off, small, cold families.
@R.M.3.14
@R.M.3.14 2 жыл бұрын
@@blackswan1983 I agree with this. My ‘step’ grandma had like 14 kids/pregnancies and between miscarriages and a childhood death, she ended up with 8 living. All of them lived in a one room house/shake. They are still very close in their 50-60s and have family reunions every year and there’s always multiple some ones to lean on in times of crisis. My other grandparents had 1-3 kids each and the bonds/attachment between parent and child and between siblings is miserable compared to the big family. I’m one of two kids and I’m not close to my mother or my sister at all. I’ve had 6 kids and I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world. I’d have 10 of it weren’t for the way the world is right now.

Truth be said: There's no way parents can give total psychological attention to all of their kids. Dad doesn't even remember everyone's birthdays, so I wonder how many kids might feel displaced by that? As if it were an easy task to raise children and give them proper support and equal treatment. It's visible that there are kids who feel bugged that there are babies still popping out. I wonder also how many fights those kids pick, that's really saddening, children aren't toys to be part of a collection to an egoistic parent but humans living through their own eyes and in their own universe (mind).

I love children, especially babies and toddlers. I was a preschool teacher for many years before I became disabled. I was blessed with 2 beautiful daughters and 2 bonus daughters from my husbands first marriage. Me and my husband both worked full time to provide for our girls. I would have loved to have more then the 4 girls but we knew we couldn’t afford more and it would have been irresponsible to have more babies when couldn’t provide the life I would want to give them. Our kids took piano and guitar lessons, they played the cello, played soccer, did gymnastics and dance and took karate. So they did do extra things, and when I was a kid I was dressed in hand me downs and goodwills clothes, I was teased endlessly about my clothes and didn’t want that for my girls. I have the patience to raise lots and lots of babies but I didn’t have the pocket book to back it up so we stopped. In hindsight I’m glad I did because the kids didn’t have to compete for my attention too much and I was able to focus on them individually several times throughout the day. They had a better quality of life because we stopped

I have to agree with you. How can the kids possibly get that one-on-one time that is so precious with each child. There's no doubt of the love and care but it was a balancing act to give each of my 3 (now grown) kids alone time with me. A lot of times, when there are this many kids, the older kids are tasked with taking care of the younger ones and I believe kids should be allowed to be kids without that kind of responsibility. It can breed bitterness that may come flooding out when the kids are adults. Not to mention the sheer cost of raising children! Insanity!

I mean, it's their family, their choice. That said, even if they're financially able to support all those kids without govt assistance, I'm concerned that none of those kids are able to get the individual attention that any child needs. Also, there's the parentification of the older kids that have to care for the younger ones.

It doesn't leave much of a cushion if a kid gets injured or diagnosed with with a health condition or even a learning disability or disciplinary issue . Somethings got to give eventually that will require a lot of money and extra attention for a family that's stretched so thin .At least some of her older kids kids seem to pick up the slack and take care of the yunguns !

I agree. They already have had issues as their 17th was born stillborn. Heartbreaking what the parents are putting these children through for their own selfish reasons.

@@tristinwilson9437 I’m not even trying to put them down or sound judgmental my father is 1 of 10 and I just personally don’t think it’s a good idea I mean the kids seem pretty well behaved at least I just don’t see how you can be on the welfare and have so many and go on fancy trips and make each child feel special and attend to their individual needs properly but clearly they do I just couldn’t personally agree w it
