@@juketolson No, it's not. That's why movies are "feature length", in order to have the appropriate time to build characters and tell a story. The fact that this accomplishes so much while doing it so well, in such a short amount of time is astounding. Establishing characters, their motivations, and their struggles in an engaging and captivating way is not easy, it's an art form of story telling. These guys not only nailed all that, but did it with roaring style and flair. Not easy, it's quite challenging, and they did an incredible job setting the example of how to do so here.

This is the fault of the writers. In the movies (not the Disney ones) the Jedi, while flawed, are hardly idiots, and even 1000 years after the last Sith sighting, they are still aware of Sith tactics (think Yoda warning Obi-Wan and Windu at the end of episode 2 of Dooku having embraced the dark side methodologies of lying, deceit and creating mistrust).

Let's be real... All the Jedis that turned evil eventually only did so because their family or loved ones were left behind by the jedis. (To be fair i only know the movies and some of the lore) They could have easily freed Anakins mom for example or given the brother of the girl in the cinematic a chance to do something else. They know that the fear of losing a loved one can eventually lead to the dark side, but yet they do the same mistake all the time.
@canisarcani

@@Blobb2013one of the jedis greatest flaws is thinking that emotional detachment is akin to enlightenment. It's a fine theory, but in reality emotions are a natural part of being alive. I'm not saying that the sith are right and you should just do what ever you want willinilli, but balance must be attained. To achieve true balance of self is to achieve oneness with the living force. simply burying your emotions and pretending that they don't exist doesn't mean they aren't affecting you, it just means that you're going to have to deal with them later... and almost always in a very unhealthy way.

The psychological aspect is always a fascinating weapon in the Sith arsenal. It’s not just the Force and lightsabers as their main weapons. Malgus isn’t just the powerful brute I assumed him to be based on the legends I’ve heard about him. They really know how to attack the mind and I find it seems overlooked sometimes. Look at Sidious and Vader. Was a potent weapon in their hands. You see it in the films as part of the narrative and it makes it hard to ignore their words because they are right on some level.

This is what makes Luke's Jedi Order in legends so special, everyone who became a padawan there came to him, regardless of age, or if they had attachments, it was the will of the force. And Luke discrovered what Obi Wan and Yoda did after the Jedi Order fell, that the Jedi were not following the will of the Force, but rather the Jedi Order's will, that is ultimately why they fell, and why Luke's Jedi Order is so special

We need this level of story telling in the live action films. Obviously we can't get the same level of fight choreography with real life people, but I felt like I was watching an actual star wars movie for the first time in a decade. Went full screen and everything. Disney needs to stop shooting itself in the foot, fire literally everyone who's worked on the sequel trilogy and hire the talented producers of this trailer and people who won't try to cram some agenda that takes place over the actual story. It's hard to find talent, it's easy to fire the incompetent.

Is he really the bad guy, when he's the only one who wants these children to embrace their nature, without limitations and without having to leave the rest of their loved ones behind to suffer? When Anakin said "From my point the jedi are evil!" there was more behind it than just the lies of Palpatine about their supposed treason. It was about them forcing their padawan to abandon everyone and everything they care about and even once they are strong enough they forbid them to go back and set things right. They turn a blind eye a billion times at the sight of suffering just so they can keep feeling important in their excessively large temple. Afterall too many people trained in the force could damage their safe little spot in the universe. The Sith are not entirely in the right either, because their doctrin is about enslaving everyone else for their own benefits, but at the very least they don't ignore a wrong when they see it and they don't lie to themselves to make themselves feel better about abandoning the rest of the world.

(Keep in mind that I DO NOT consider the Disney films as cannon) I understand that the high budget films have to appeal to the avg person who's completely unfamiliar with SW lore (except for the other films) But you hit on a point that is at the core of it all. Perhaps neither side is 'the good side' & they are BOTH just different factions fighting each other. With the Jedi being dogmatic in their beliefs (insert cheesy dad joke here about how they should be catmatic instead) while kidnapping small children in hopes of those children fighting battles at a later date. @@osmano675 You can't say "beyond the familial tie-" that's critical- and it is the reason. The idea behind the dark side "forever dominating your destiny" comes about from it being a downwards spiral. In the video you see the padawan disobey her master because she feels betrayed by him, and the closing shot on her face displaying dismay at her master's death, and rage at the one who killed him. I got chills.. Then I sensed somethin from deep within. I love the Jedi, but why is it every time The Sith do or say something, it resonates with me beyond a level I’m willing to admit..

Jedi aren't as compelling as the sith who have ambitions, desires,flaws etc this makes them human, another thing could be that most Jedi are good for the sake of good while the Sith have something they want and strive towards it even if it is wrong we can respect a person will and dedication.
