Blizzard used to be like that. "when its done" was their preferred answer to any date of release question. They would re-do the game 2-3 times from the ground up if necessary. You would wait for half a decade. But when it came out - it was industry-defining. And then they got merged with Activision.

I thought the idea of how client authoritative the game is was still in the air despite what AGS said about it. Something about how certain bugs that can be committed client side really points towards client authoritative, but I've also heard the foundational code for New World isn't helping with bugs so it may just be that.

To be fair: "The GNB changes were not tested" could very well be true because... the reality is Endwalker its still not released. But being real... we know it probably will arrive like this to release and be fixed on a later patch.

For most games, open betas before release are basically demos and used as advertising or as an incentive to get people to preorder the game.

Sure, there are times when I wish a game wouldn't be delayed and I could play it earlier, but it's always for the better for devs to delay the launch, because it gets them more time to polish the game. I remember when they announced Mortal Kombat 11 in December 2018 on Game Awards and released it in April 2019. It helps to keep the hype alive, which worked for me even tho I'm not a big fan of the MK franchise, I always preferred Tekken.

People are too quick to shit on QA and developers. QA finds bugs or things that are wrong (ex: something that isn't fun, or doesn't work as intended). QA writes up bugs and feedback. Devs get feedback, determine how difficult things are to fix. Management sees all this and determines whether or not the work is worth doing. Quit blaming devs. Company management tells the devs and QAs what to do.

The thing is that the programmers are saying we need more time. The corporation is saying we need more money. The programmers then say if you give us more time you’ll make even more money. Then the corporation lays down the gauntlet. The corporation says we need more money NOW! Programmers say but it’s not ready. Corporation says NOW! And that is the world we live in.

Nowadays generally a beta test or early access (especially within a couple months of release) = just releasing the game in a limited way to build hype for the full release. They just call it beta/early access to cover their asses if its broken.

The intro of the vid reminds me of ESO the players there defend that you have to bug out the combat system (which is super ping reliant) to deal good damage, which causes an extreme gap between players not because of skill but because they litteraly can't do it due to lag. Litteraly cancelling any attempt of revamping the combat.

Josh isn't a content creator anymore, he's creating a movement that will improve the whole industry and raise it's standard. BETAs became a marketing tool and they are sold as early access and secure pre release purchases / revenue. Testing is supposed to cost money and companies should know that very well and take those costs into account. "Release now, patch later", that's what it boils down to and it all started online gameplay and faster internet connections.

I think my issue is Amazon doesn't seem to have any better overall grasp then say Blue Hole with Tera, Trion with RIft, or whoever makes Black Desert, throw swtor in too. Yes AMazon has god money but does that translate to the gaming department, not sure Bezos cares beyond his own pursuits and it's clear there's some sort of disconnect on making a fully good game. I could care less about trees falling or light rays, there's literally woods within miles of me I can get that in real life but wasting time I don't have in a product that "maybe" will get better is kinda bad feels. I have played it for 100 hours , left cause game is basically copy paste its gets extremally boring both pve and pvp. You are on point that ppl are on extreme amount of copium , i expierenced it from players and guildies alike. These giants tech companies are known for dropping projects that doesn't have success in a short period of time, if this game doesn't reach the expected profit they will simple close the game in 2 to 3 years

Not sure why people are surprised there's issues with pvp. WoW has shown what some of the worst elements that can develop in pvp, specifically world pvp. It's very hard to keep it balanced.
