I got one of those for Christmas.. it is really good fun to fly around the house... and so far it seems to be indestructible! It has even survived my little girl's best efforts to fly/trash it.

Thank you for watching, I loved your collection room and your white wings. If you like paper airplanes you should check out the micro scale paper airplanes we have posted. The p 38 is one of my favorites but we have a bunch of them that you might like. The A 10, the x-29 and the hawker p1214 all fly great. The p 51 and the biplane don't fly as well but they look good.

Love your videos taoisflyer. I just bought a couple of these on amazon for under $14 each. I usually get 3 ch micros. Figured these are cheap enough and it would be fun flying something a little more challenging. Thanks for the great reviews.

@just4playin1 LOL, i saw your FPV video, you and your wife must really love each other. Your nice to build her a heli, and really nice to crash it for her so she doesn't have to feel bad, great on board video it just flipped right over and went head first. i think she did the right thing throwing her drink in your face ;) Thanks for watching.

It's easier then it used to be but Jamie Hyneman was right when he talks about the big difference between driving a car and driving it through a camera lens. I understand the problem you have with long or faraway turns and orientation,most new pilots who try out rc simulators have an easier time with the FPV view as opposed to the real world view for obvious reasons, you don't need to worry about controls being flipped or the wing of an airplane being straight on to your perspective.

@just4playin1 That's so true, the best pilots are the ones who get back up after they crash. I'll definitely stay tuned and in touch. You really know what your doing with FPV helicopters.

For years I have had this thing called the 'Micro Mosquito'. For $60 it was a bit on the expensive side of fun, but it was hover capable, 4 channel, and could fly around the room for about 5 minutes nonstop. Yesterday I picked up this thing clled the "protocol predator" for $25, a bit more touchey than the mosquito, but twice as fast and had a gyrostabilizer bar on top that keeps it level if I were to fly it under the celling fan. I saw one of THESE things at radioshack, spins like a blender...

Mate they're designed for indoor use and a bit of quick fun also if I'm a novice that has never used an R/C copter it would probably be more prudent to spend $24 on this and get the hang of flying it BEFORE spending $160 to $290 for a "nice copter"

I am a pro when it comes to R/C Helicopters and planes.Take it from me,these micro and small walmart Heli's do not fly outdoors at all because of the infared signal and strong lights indoors will interfere also.The batteries are short lived in the helicopters.In the past I've had 3 of these too many.So i say to anyone who is thinking of buying 1,don't waste your many.If you want an Electric Helicopter.Buy 1 with a collective pitch and swash plate.Prices range from $160 to $290 for a nice copter.

I think It has not been submitted to them. At the moment the Guinness web site shows the pocket copter from Spinmaster and Airhogs as the smallest. But you can see by the measurements that it needs to be updated. . ,Pocket copter, 10 cm long , 6.5 cm tall , 2.5 cm wide , 9.5 cm rotor , flight time 5 min , . ,Micro Elicottero, 8 cm long , 5.5 cm tall , 1.9 cm wide , 8.3 cm rotor , flight time 5 min , . Both helicopters Measured and flown by RC101 and the Taoistflyer on march 26 2011.

@BDielschneider it was actually just a blue head light, but it really does look the same shade of blue that cameras pick up when they see IR, it has a small blue led on the front that is part of the circuit board, and it has 2 small flashing red blue lights under the rotors. I love that infra red looks blue through cameras though.

the small size is important, but it also needs some weight to stabilize it, look how it turns around itself like crazy, I think it's because it's very light.
@taoistflyer

it may be infra red interference from bright lights, other electronics, or the sun, try flying in a different location and see if the problem persists.

nice work on the vids but i think these things seem to just float around go a 3channel for forward/reverse/left/right/ up down controls very basic still, i think the twister pro and ninja are really good to begin with. pay that bit extra and you can fly it exactly how you want, heli's like this can put people off the hobby when you cant control it how you want
@taoistflyer
@taoistflyer 13 жыл бұрын
@T4nm4y 3.5 channel is a subjective marketing term. Coaxial helicopters are usually fixed pitch helicopters, and fixed pitch helicopters can't hover inverted only collective pitch helicopters can.

@Shock3r919 it's so that 3 people can fly at the same time. each person sets their transmitter to a different letter and when they turn on their helicopter it syncs the helicopter and transmitter to that infra red frequency. it also helps if you encounter interference, you can switch to a different IR frequency.
@taoistflyer
@taoistflyer 12 жыл бұрын
@sonykroket Sorry tahts not the one I was talking about but That's a pretty nice variation on that classic trick. The one I was talking about is an rc helicopter, basically just like this one expect it has a round wire frame around it so that its rotors are protected.

That''s a tough one. 500 meters is a long distance to reliably transmit video. The idea of flying through a camera lens like a video game sounds fun but it's very very difficult and poses a lot of orientation and safety concerns that you can't anticipate. Even with a pan tilt system and a head tracking set of video glasses it still takes a skilled pilot and a lot of money to fly FPV. And you should Never fly out of your line of site for safety reasons plus you could easily lose your aircraft.

With regards to the overhead lights, they probably realised that as an indoor heli the lighting would be an issue, so they used an IR pulse frequency which would be nowhere near the fluoro pulses.

Well, there are various FPV ( first Person View ) setups - in its basic form, its a small camera and transmitter ( that sits on the plane ) ...and at the other end ( on the ground of course ) there is a receiver. With most of them, your receiver will allow you to plug directly into your tv set ( usually via the AV INPUTs ). Systems these days vary in price and range ( as in distance covered )- but generally quite in expensive. E-bay sold me a 1 watt unit with 32 KMs range for just over $100.00

@cessna815 it is VERY durable, it can bounce off walls, hit the ground and get knocked around and still keep going, it would be hard to break the rotors or body.
@taoistflyer
@taoistflyer 12 жыл бұрын
@akaBeastMode101 it is very sturdy and hard to break. When it hits a wall it usually just falls to the ground if you hit it really hard and sometimes it keeps flying. It's hard to damage especially if you just let go of the throttle during a crash, but that goes for all aircraft.

great advice, I love collective pitch helicopters but for first time pilots it's a wast of money, if you don't know how to fly chances are you'll total a collective pitch helicopter on your first wreck, these little infra red helicopters can handle hundreds of crashes without costing anything

Quite correct, - however its a little more complicated for me - I tried for almost 2 years and, I am just " one of those people" that have a distant turn issue - reversing is fine. Getting back to FPV though, the transition was instant, - and very rewarding. ( it was like something just clicked into place ) and I can easily calculate my position within a 3D world from the a pilots perspective instantly. i have no issue flying REAL aircraft this way as well. A GREAT tool to include is OSD..
